"Kunsel, use Quick Attack!" Zack shifted his bag watching as Kunsel executed the attack, striking the metapod strait on. Their opponent fainted and Zack let out a whoop of triumph. "Good job Kunsel."

Zack reached into his bag pull out Kunsel's ball to call him back when a light called his attention to his pokemon, only to see him shifting and changing and when the light faded away he can see that Kunsel had evolved into a new form.

"Awesome, Kunsel!"

Pulling out his pokedex he read the entry.

It makes a nest to suit its long and skinny body. The nest is impossible for other Pokémon to enter.

Cloud was off to the side, watching. He let his own Pokedex record the new Pokemon, letting him know what it was. The Furret definitely looked a lot sleeker. Pretty impressive.

"Good job, Zack."

They were out here because Zack wanted to go back to the Dark Cave, he had seen something in there during their short time within and he wanted to go back and try and catch it. He didn't before and considering they needed to train anyway, Cloud had figured why not. Besides, he wasn't comfortable with Zack going off alone.

"Thanks!" Zack said, grinning brightly at Cloud. He was glad his friend was coming with him on this trip.

He wasn't quite sure what the Pokemon he saw was since he didn't get his pokedex out in time, but he wanted to find out. When he had told Cloud about wanting to go back and look he hadn't really expected the blond to decide to go with him, but he was happy for the company. He was also glad that it gave Cloud a break from the group, well Squall mainly, as Zidane and Ammy were just more hyper, like Zack, than anything else.

It really was mostly an excuse to get away from Squall and the others. Zack was hyper enough, but three hyper people was just exhausting. Besides, it gave him more chances to train his Pokemon. Wartortle was proving something fierce in battle and his Bulbasaur evolved into an Ivysaur, along with his Pidgey becoming a Pidgeotto. Vulpix had gotten a little stronger but since she was the strongest, Cloud didn't use her as often because he wanted to give his other Pokemon a chance to train. Staryu and Eevee, the only two who won't evolve until he got them a stone, simply grew stronger.

Of course, he knew his work would be cut out for him once he got a Slowpoke, if what Yosuke told him was true. Though he hoped this one didn't eat material.

"So, ever figure out what you saw in the cave?"

Zack recalled Kunsel, putting his ball back with the four others he had on him, having left Sephiroth back in the PC as punishment for having decided to claw him once too often. How the pokemon fit in their balls then those balls could be stored in a computer still baffled him, but he tried not to think about it too much. Of the rest of his team Beautiful, Mimic and Air Strike were looking fit as ever, and even Reno seemed to be happy to be getting stronger.

Zack looked forward to catching what ever it was that he had seen, and since he had only five pokemon on him he could keep the new on with him.

"Still not sure yet, but I am sure of a few things; it was small, about the size of a child's teddy bear, it seemed to be a tan or light brown color, though with the light in there its hard to tell which, and I am sure now that odd sucking sound was coming from where I had seen it." Zack was fairly confident in his observation skills, having been trained in Soldier, and in his own senses.

Cloud never really questioned it because the technology was just beyond him. He didn't mind keeping his Pokemon in the Pokeballs since there wasn't any ill will happening to the Pokemon within. And really, having six Pokemon following them around just got too crowding. He simply just made sure to let them out once a day to play around.

"Sucking sound? Was it eating something?" Cloud questioned.

Zack had come to stop minding keeping most of his pokemon in their balls, though he liked having one out all the time, rotating which one was out from time to time.

"I don't know for sure, it might have been." He answered

"Guess we'll just find out when we get there," Cloud shrugged lightly, setting off again to reach the Dark Cave. Though it seemed to be easier this time, since they were able to jump down the ledges that, for some reason, they just couldn't get up before. "Hopefully the trip'll be short and we can get back soon."

Not that he didn't like this trip. If nothing else, he would rather not see Squall and the others, but he also wasn't real fond of the backtracking either. It only took forever to leave Cherrygrove, after all.

"Yeah... I can't wait to find out what it was." Zack was beyond perplexed at the ledges, after he had spent a good hour, during a rest break, on the way between Dinkyville and Cherrygrove, trying to get up one of them. "Well I don't want to take too long, I figure a whole day would be more than enough to find what it was, and if we can't then I will have to just go without."

Zack hadn't been happy when he asked if they could stop so he could find out what it was and Squall had insisted they keep going at get to Violet. He had done his best to keep his word to Cloud and not bother with Squall at all, but the man continued to irritate him, without even trying it seemed.

"Even so, the Pokemon could always turn up somewhere else. Some of them are pretty common anyway," Cloud suggested, jumping down said ledge.

The region seemed pretty vast, so for certain areas to only have specific Pokemon just seemed unlikely. Sure, there would be some rare ones but still. He was sure that if whatever Zack saw in the Cave wasn't found today, then it could probably found at another Cave.

"Yeah, it could... but this is also nice, we get time to train our teams. No one but us two and our pokemon. Most of the group is nice but it can get noisy quickly, some relative quiet is nice too." Zack did his best not to point out that Cloud being with him was what really made it nice.

"I could also try asking if anyone else has seen a pokemon like what I saw, in this area or else where." He said, gesturing to his gear to make a point of who all he was talking about. He could have tied that before, but Zack liked to do things hands on, so he would rather not use that resource until later.

Cloud couldn't help the small chuckle and smirk. "Quiet, coming from you? Never would have thought."

The blond didn't answer to the last bit, just giving a shrug. There were always people to ask and quiet a few were very informative. He was just never good at asking for help, he'd rather leave that up to Zack, really.

Zack pushed at Cloud playfully in response to his comment, acting a little put off. "Yes, I happen to like quiet too, thank you very much. I just don't make a habit out of keeping that way all the time." He teased back, knowing that Cloud could be talkative when you got on the right subjects.

He rushed ahead a couple paces to turn and face Cloud, walking backwards, with a large grin on his face.

"Since when did being quiet become a habit?" Cloud responded, rolling his eyes lightly as Zack decided to walk backwards. "If that were the cast then you have a habit of being talkative."

"I don't know, but I got pretty convinced it is one being around you and Squall all the time." Zack's grin widened in response to Cloud's eye roll as he continued to walk backwards. "Hey I have to balance the two of you out somehow." He said with a laugh, not noticing the root sticking out right behind him. He tripped on the root and fell over backwards, letting out a huff of air in the process.

Cloud knelt down, resting his chin in his hand as he looked down at Zack, an eyebrow raised. "Perhaps you should focus on keeping your body balanced rather than the quiet to loud ratio between me and Squall?"

"Haha." Zack responds, wiggling around a little to make sure he won't hit Cloud and tries to launch himself to his feet. And fails, but actually succeeds the second try. "Yeah, still got it!" He pumps his fist to celebrate.

"You mean you had it to begin with?" Cloud replied easily, pushing himself up and heading back onto the road. He was still smirking lightly, though. Despite not having all of his memories, and knowing what Zack's fate was, he could still enjoy what he had now.

The inevitable was inevitable, and he couldn't change that. Once he returned home, it would be the same. So he may as well enjoy the time while it lasts.

"Oh~ you wound me Cloud, I though you were a better friend then that..." Zack said, acting thoroughly dramatic. Really he was happy that Cloud felt like joking, the lighter side of the blond was much easier on Zack than his quiet stoic-ness like when he was around Squall.

Squall made everything stoic and quiet, Cloud couldn't help it. But at least the others and Zack allowed him to not feel so tense all the time. "Friends tell the truth and that's all I was doing."

He chuckled lightly. "Sorry if the truth was hard to handle."

"I know, I know, you only say something cause you care." He said, laughing slightly along with Cloud. He didn't care that it came at his own expense, getting Cloud to laugh was worth any amount of hit heads and bruised egos.

He looked in front of them as he started moving again, and seeing a shape that was getting closer he pointed it out. "Looks like we are getting close."

"Mm, let's hope you find what you're looking for," Cloud replied, shoving his hands into his pocket. He should probably let one of his pokemon out. They were going to into a place that had primarily rock and ground type, so both Meteodrive and Earth Rave could do the trick. Granted that they stopped bickering at one another. All of his Pokemon were caught/hatched around the same time.

It was suddenly like a competition on who could was the better Pokemon for Cloud. He sighed softly, at least Stardust was quiet and Starburst just liked to hang around. Actually, Starburst seemed like the better candidate for now, so he reached to his belt and pulled out its PokeBall. Letting it out, it immediately plastered itself onto Cloud's back.

"Yeah, it would be nice for things to go well." He said. Beautiful would probably be his best bet when they go in there, since her fighting move seemed to work best against the rock types out of Zack's party.

He let out a small laugh when Cloud let out Starburst and the Staryu immediately attached itself to the blond's back. "He seems rather," Zack started, stopping to chuckle a moment. "attached to you."

Cloud looked over his shoulder to Starburst, who let out a "Hiyah!", and shrugged. "It's a water Pokemon and usually swims in the water, not walking on land. Makes sense for it to attach itself to something mobile."

He didn't particularly mind and besides, Starburst was his first Pokemon.

Zack just chuckled a little more, shaking his head and staring up at the cave opening. It wasn't frightening, heck this whole place could be consider a vacation in Zack's opinion, but that didn't mean he lost his healthy respect for terrain. "At least the cave looks stable." He said, tapping one of the sides with his fist.

He wanted to get in there and get searching. He just had to know what it was that he had seen.

The first day of searching through the cave had been rather fruitless. They got some good training out of it, at least. Staryu got stronger as did Beautiful. But it seemed like there was still no sign of the pokemon Zack swears he saw. The next morning, their last day there, was spent still searching. Cloud had decided to pull out his Ivysaur, Earth Rave, this time. "Find anything yet, Zack?"

"No, nothin-" He cut's himself off, giving Cloud a quick hand signal to be quiet. He then point, Cloud should be just able to see it where he is, he is pointing to the side of one of the taller areas in the cave. There, just peaking out from behind it is a small little tan head, with big round ears and a paw covering part of it's face. Zack breaths evenly and deeply, trying to keep himself from getting too excited.
