[So they're in Ilex forest, because Fuji thought it'd be a good idea, and very few people have the actual nerve to tell him otherwise when he gets that certain glint in his eyes. So he's riding on a bear, giving the forest a very genial look, and pausing only to snap photos every once in a while at the local wildlife, which isn't anything too amazing. It feels like nighttime -- and it probably is, for once, because night falls quickly when you are busy trying to figure out which of these similar-looking trees you just passed fifteen minutes ago.

A hum, and a delighted gasp. His camera lens turns, points and clicks. He then gestures to Shiraishi, amused.]

Ah, look, a shrine. Isn't it quaint?

[A forest was really something different from all the other places Shiraishi had been in Johto. Somehow it was calm there... and it was easier to relax in a place without too many people around. It was also interesting to see what kind of forests the place itself had.

Though Shiraishi had to wonder how long they had been there. But he trusted Fuji on this, since he had been in Johto longer than him... and would hopefully know a way back.

And found the most interesting things, apparantly.]

It really is. Maybe it has some kind of a special purpose?

Feels a bit counterproductive, though, to have a shrine in the middle of a forest. [He wrinkles his nose a little, and clambers off of his bear to get a closer look. It's a small, quaint-looking shrine, wooden, not entirely too much worse off for the wear.

He snaps a few photos before reaching for the door. A slight tug--]

Ah, it's stuck.

It must be quite old.

[He then looks around a little, to see if there are any signs of what it's for]

Maybe there used to be a village here?

[He sounds a tad doubtful, though, glancing around as well. The foliage is pretty thick.] Or maybe we've accidentally stumbled upon sacred grounds.

I think we would have seen evidence of a village while walking... but who knows. [There might have been books on the shrine somewhere in a library... or some near town people might now what it was about. Sadly, there wasn't anything there to find... at least not with eyes alone]

Not knowing makes it rather mysterious. And fascinating.

With the wildlife here, I wouldn't be surprised if villages could be obliterated without a trace. [a shrug] But you're right -- it's a good thing that we might never find out. It wouldn't be interesting if there were an answer.

[He turns again, the shrine having lost its luster. It's rather quiet in these woods, and he looks up at the canopy of leaves above. There doesn't seem to be a lot of light filtering through, really. A thoughtful pause.] Ah, so they were right.

[Shiraishi looks at Fuji] Right about what?

[reveiller]

That every hour brings about nightfall. [a shrug] What time is it, do you know?

[His internal clock says it's sometime at about 7pm, true nightfall -- but that clock is a little skewed from all the traveling that they've done. Idly, he wonders if this world has anything semblance of timezones.]

I have no idea.

[He was pretty sure it was late, but had no further thoughts on the subject]

Don't the Pokegears have a clock?

[a bit of a laugh, and he holds up his camera and equipment ruefully -- both hands rather tied at the moment. teasing--] Don't you have a pokegear?

[Ah, of course. Shiraishi takes his pokegear out of his pocket and looks at the clock that it has]

7.30 pm. It's getting late, isn't it?

[reveiller]

[so he was more-or-less on the dot, huh. he considers this thoughtfully through the lens of his camera, before turning around and taking a shot of Shiraishi, flash illuminating the otherwise darkened forest.

a grin as he peers over the screen.] Let's set up camp.

[Shiraishi blinks]

Out here? We're not even trying to get back?

[reveiller]

Why should we? Unless you have a terribly pressing engagement waiting for you. Let me guess -- hot date?

How did you guess? [Stares seriously for a while and then shakes his head]

Mmh, I guess spending a night in a forest doesn't sound too bad.

[reveiller]

Freaky prophet powers -- runs in the genes. [a hum, delighted]

The tent's with Bern. Want to go find a good clearing for a fire?

I think I saw one while we were walking. Maybe five minutes that way. [He points out the way they came from]

[reveiller]

Did you, now? Let's go take a look. [humming, he limps slightly on his way back to the ursaring, giving her a fond pat.]

Lead the way, captain.
