Who will give you strength when you're not strong?

Who: Those rescuing their friends, and their soulless zombie friends!
Where: The rest of Johto
When: June 18-June 25
Summary: [following the announcement from Oak] Armed with black pokéballs and faced with a challenge, it's up to everyone to capture as many Shedinja as they want to save their friends.
Rating: Probably PG or something
Log:

"Please be careful, trainers, and good luck!"

With those parting words from Professor Oak, it's up to the rest of you to save some souls. Strong, weak, one-on-one, ganging up, whatever you can do... These Shedinja have the souls of people, and you're the only ones who can do it.

From all around the place, speedy little Pidgeys bolt about, sacks tied to their feet. They shake the balls out and drop them on the ground, or deliver them right towards anyone trying to flag them down. The PokéCenters and PokéMarts have plenty to go around.

Go go, you can do it! The fate of your friends, of strangers... is in your hands!

[[And a mass Shedinja Catching log is now up for everyone! Feel free to attack, double-attack, capture Shedinja, shake your friends, cry helplessly, whatever floats your boat.
Please label your character's location in the subject line so others will know where your characters are and possibly keep things a bit organized. i.e. "LOCATION: VIOLET CITY"]]

If it hadn't been for Xion, Roxas might not have listened to that broadcast from Professor Oak. As seriously as he took his duties as a trainer, getting the badges and filling the pokedex, Roxas would have been content to sit this one out, staying in the hotel room until it was safe to come out.

But then Xion had fainted, and Roxas knew that he had to rescue her, and so steeling his courage, he went to the pokemon center and got as many of the pokeballs as he could. With his pokemon healed and Sparky on his shoulder, Roxas took a deep breathe and headed out to face the Shendinja.

[ooc: Roxas can be found in and around Olivine city, fighting Shedinja wherever he can with reckless attacks since he's kind of freaking out right now. Team up with him, bug him, do whatever you want]

[No no no, you're just looking for a reason to get your soul sucked, Mr. Get-freaked-out-by-ghosts D|

She's catching up to him, after leaving Xion with most of her pokemon that she's not using for battling.]

With all the broadcasts on the Pokegear with people suddenly collapsing and their Pokemon beginning to panic, Mac had grown more than a little concerned. Just when he was starting to get used to how bizarre Johto was, people started dropping left and right. His worry only grew following Professor Oak's announcement. Pokemon that were stealing souls?

Not something he could stand by and watch happen, especially if he could do something to help. Picking up some of Professor Oak's pokeballs from one of the carrier Pidgey, Mac and his Pokemon headed out to Route 32.

Challenging the gymleader would have to wait.

[So all they had to do was hit the Shedinja's weak points and catch them with the special balls, huh? That was easy enough. Especially considering the fact that he had plenty of pokémon easily capable of taking a type combo like ghost/bug.]

[This would be a breeze and Rose would be back to normal in no time...even if his mind was desperately telling him to go to sleep already. 48 hours, John. Why are you still awake? Too bad he had no intention of sleeping any time soon. Hell, he felt invigorated just standing out here about to fight all these bugs.]

[So let's see...weaknesses. He began running over the type chart in his mind. Ghost and dark, obviously. Being half bug type wouldn't cover up those glaring ghost weaknesses. And being half ghost wouldn't negate any of the bug weaknesses. So...fire, flying, and rock.]

Well alright then. [He threw four pokéballs into the air, releasing a Haunter, a Dunsparce, an Umbreon, and a Spiritomb. Apparently, somebody means business. Apparently, someone can also be quite the strategist when he's pushed enough.]

Slimer, be careful. They're half ghost so try your best not to get hit with anything. Sassacre, just keep hitting them with Pursuit and AncientPower. Lestat and Tera-Geist, stick together and combo attack. Watch each others backs. Got it? [There are nods and cries of agreement, and the frenzy of a battle begins.]

[Anyone care to help him?]

*Hayate had spent a good deal of his time before the announcement went up moping and calling people out of concern. It was one thing to have Rika and Yayoi safely tucked into beds with food waiting by their bedside should they come around after this hunt... But it was another entirely to have the knowledge that people he couldn't keep an eye on were out of it.

Even worse, he'd likely have no way to help them... Seriously, what were the odds the Shedinja holding Mammon or Cocona's soul was way over here in Cianwood? Pretty slim, if you asked him. ... not that anyone had.

For now, he would just settle on wandering about Cianwood to try and find any he could, his loyal Arcanine at his side.*

Mmm... Times like this are the times where I wish Proton Packs were real... I haven't seen a single Shedinja since I heard the message...

Squalo was sick and tired of sitting around doing nothing. So when the broadcast came and so conveniently handed him a method and a target, he wasted no time, months worth of pent up frustration, rage and bloodlust needed to be aimed at something.

In reality, catching the Shedinja was only an excuse to him.

That did not change the ferocity or efficiency with which he took action.

His team was adjusted appropriately, Fire types, Dark types and a Flying type to combat the soul-stealers as effectively as possible, plus his Lucario to coordinate the attack. Of course not the entirety of his team was visible around him, spread out through the area only one or two at his side at any given time. Squalo scoured the city and the surroundings to the best of his and his team's ability. His Absol's aand Lucario's ability to sense energies was a great asset in such a hunt, because it was a hunt, and Squalo had no intention of letting up until he was done.

Engage if you dare. Getting in his way (though surely nobody would want to) would not be a good idea, however.

[A knight protects those weaker than himself.]

[That was a fact deeply engraved in Lancer's mind, a lesson he had had learned and accepted as vital to the ideal of an 'unforgettable hero' like he had always wanted to become. And even though that the name of Cu Chulainn was now known throughout time--throughout time and across universes, even--that had not changed. He hadn't changed.]

[Even though the era was foreign, the protection of a loyal guard dog would never fail or falter. For Connla, Saber, Xion, and all the others that had fallen to this threat, Lancer would stand and fight even at the risk of his soul. If death didn't frighten him off, some ridiculous cicadas couldn't even hope to try.]

Liath Macha. Dub Sainglend. [Suddenly flanked by a pair of Rapidash, Lancer tossed a black Pokeball to himself. In place of a confident smirk, he wore an unusually serious expression. Already he could hear the rustling of what was likely the first Shedinja in some nearby bushes.]

You know what to do.

[There was a sudden flash of fire and clattering of hooves against the ground--Lancer had finally gotten serious. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_ThZBu5jiE)]

Hyah!

[There's a THIRD flaming horse in the vicinity- smaller than Lancer's Rapidashes, this particular Ponyta's carrying a rider. Hero doesn't flinch as they charge straight into the nearby bushes, scaring out two Shedinja.]

[Immediately, the Ponyta wreathes herself in flame, while up above, Hero's Golbat dives after any Shedinja trying to hover up out of reach. Two of those special Pokeballs fly out, snagging the bugs before they hit the ground.]

Once all of the chaos had started, Dash naturally kept her cool. A bunch of bugs showing up and making people go to sleep? Big deal. She had been concerned, yes, but just barely. Even warnings from Fluttershy and Jack weren't enough to get her to understand the severity of the situation.

Only after witnessing Rarity's collapse did she finally get serious. Once the message was sent out, she was quick to get herself and her Pokemon ready. She set out of the Pokemon Center with her chosen troop of Pokemon, the specially-designed Pokeballs in hand and wearing her aviator goggles on her forehead. Clearly, she is in serious business mode. She glanced around, making note of the closest Shedinja, then turned to face her Pokemon.

"Alright, guys, you ready?" She was met with a chorus of approving Pokemon calls from the troop. She grinned and pulled the goggles over her eyes. "That's exactly what I like to hear! C'mon-- Let's squash some bugs!"

With that, she bolted out into the fray, a young Growlithe and Gible on her heels, a Rapidash at her side, a Castform on her shoulder, and a Pidgeot and Skarmory soaring above. She's got this covered on all sides!

Coop is, also, in serious business mode, but his ways of showing it are probably much different from Rainbow Dash's. He's got a solemn expression, a Vulpix by his side and somewhere, above, there's a Noctowl, acting as a lookout.

He's got one of the black pokéballs in his hand, but in the other, he's got a small recorder (not immediately apparent to anyone nearby due to its small size) and he's talking quickly into it.

"Diane, we recently received news from Oak. Not a lot of new information regarding the Shedinja, but information pertaining to dealing with the situation itself. Am holding in my left hand a black pokéball - there's a fair number of them circulating in the Centers now - which I and anyone else willing to help are to use to capture the pokémon in question."

A pause. And a sigh, as his voice slows down. "This is one of the meaner tricks Johto has pulled on us. I can only hope that no one will suffer any lasting injuries from this, physical or psychological."

At which point he turns the little device off. Aidan has waited patiently for him to finish the monologue, but now looks around with his ears perked, clearly hearing something. Coop frowns and turns around, carefully - you never know when a Shedinja might surprise you - and after a hoot-like sound from Holmes, looks up in the sky to see two other bird-like forms.

It's eerie and he feels uncomfortable, can't really help the bit of tension he feels as a response to the sight, but his Noctowl doesn't seem to deem the others as enemies and just a second later the immense rustling from ahead of him alerts him to the presence of another, who is, by the sounds of it, quickly approaching.

With all this, though, he fails to notice the Shedinja slowly emerging some quite distance behind him that the Vulpix is baring his teeth at.

The announcement across the 'gear had been most welcome. It was good to have some basic information to go on, even if it wasn't much. Having a definite enemy in mind allowed England to direct his anger towards something at least. He had been to the nearest Pokemon Centre and taken as many of the special Pokeballs as they'd give him, stashing them in his bag and his pockets as he could.

It was a bit foolish going out alone, he supposed, but he had his Pokemon with him. Gabriel and Spitfire at his sides, working together as though they were brothers, with Whitby fluttering close by and Smaug held in his arms. He'd been lucky in those he'd caught, apparently. Fire and dark and flying, and Wales was safely tucked away in his Pokeball for now while the others who could fight did so.

England was not going to stop until his friends had been returned.

[identity profile] piccolo-tomate.livejournal.com 2011-06-19 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
Romano had heard the announcement as well, and though he wasn't sure how trustworthy the speaker was he did not doubt the nurses at the Center. He had taken a few of the special pokeballs as well but with as little catching experience as he had, Romano had little to no idea how to use them (and the few times he did, they missed their target entirely).

Despite his ignorance, he was determined to help in some way. He had with him only Aeneas. Normally, he'd have chosen Virgilio or Nuvole, but Aeneas seemed fitting. He was supposed to be a warrior after all, and Romano needed a warrior beside him, not a guide. Together they walked side by side until Romano noticed a horribly familiar figure on the very same trail he walked on.

It had been quite some time since he had last seen England. He thought, perhaps, the other had left Johto and gone back to being the unholy heathen he was before. And yet, here was that very bastard now. Romano stood closer to Aeneas, who was unsure why his tiny trainer was suddenly so cautious. The little boy squared his shoulders and stated as loudly as he could, "G-Get out of my way, bastard! You're blocking the road!"

He was tough, intimidating, and (most of all) not the least bit afraid of some former Roman country or its traitor of a king.

As soon as he had received the message, Athrun made a beeline for the Pokémon Center. A few minutes later, he stepped out. He was eerily calm, though he wore a serious expression on his face. Those who knew him well, though, knew that this was a sign of him being at his most dangerous. The only reason he wasn't in SEED mode was that he had lost his SEED upon arrival.

As he stepped out, he grabbed his Poké Balls, one at a time, and released all six of his current team members -- a Pidgeot, a Golem, a Magmar, a Scizor, a Drifblim, and a Rotom.

"This time, we're not driving them off," Athrun told them. "We're capturing them. So take them down."

With that, all six Pokémon fanned out. And it was then that Shedinja began to appear.

Athrun and his team moved throughout the city. Any time a Pokémon spotted a Shedinja, it let out a cry as it blasted it with fire, wind, rocks, or ectoplasm, giving its position away to Athrun, who then threw balls as he became alerted to their presence. The seven of them worked as one, and it was through their teamwork that the captured Shedinja began to fill up Athrun's bag.

These Pokémon would see what Athrun Zala was truly capable of (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOFwzhfLyxo).

Lacus was still at the inn when she called Athrun after hearing the message. She had never left Sheryl's side for more than a few minutes at a time since they brought her back to the inn. Watching her friend remain unmoving was making her heart contract. It was fear. Fear that she was never going to wake up.

After that conversation with Hayate and watching the same condition happen to Yayoi, it was more than she could bear. She hated to think what would happen to Hayate if his friend never recovered. Nor did she want to think that a good girl such as Yayoi would never open her eyes to sing and dance again.

Athrun had left before she could notice. Without a word. She could only guess where he was going and what he was about to do. It was something she understood because she wanted to go as well.

Without any other choice, she tried to contact Athrun through the PokeConnect. Her expression was stern and determined. "Athrun, please...I want to come too." She didn't want to stay behind and do nothing.

Tohru was certainly NOT on the list of people one should have expected to see out and about, trying to badass it up, but her team is strong and it would be a waste to sit around waiting for other people to help her friends.

Once she got to the edge of town and beyond the gate she surveyed the area just a bit nervously. A pair of Go-Goggles that she'd bought at the store had been put on after the video feed ended.

Somehow she thought that if she wore them she'd be better protected against the soul stealing bugs. She was certainly allowed to hope. Her hand clasped one of the special Pokeballs. She called out Rapidash, fully expecting to have to chase at least one of the Shedinja down. Climbing up onto his back quietly she made sure that her hold was sure

"Be careful, everyone."

Aoko had been out there for quite some time, catching any and every Shedinja she saw. Ever since the broadcast about the Shedinja went out, Aoko put herself on a mission. And she would not rest until her friends had their souls back, and she didn't have to worry about the rest of her friends.

But catching Pokemon for hours on end can easily tire out Pokemon. And only having one Pokemon that cold cause damage to the Shedinja didn't help. Aoko's Vulpix was pretty tired, so she decided it was time for a break.

"All right, take a break. You've been doing a great job." Aoko then saw Tohru, and waved over to her, trying to seem cheerful.

"Hello. Are you catching Shedinja, too?"

After several days of dividing her time between taking care of Mammon's and L's zombified husks, Belphe was only too happy to receive Oak's broadcast that afternoon implying there was some amount of hope for salvaging the situation. She only hoped that frightened residents and travelers had taken care not to drive off the shedinja that currently held the souls she was seeking...

After ensuring that both her sister and friend were being watched over vigilantly by their teams, and leaving them with instructions to let them get up and move every few hours, but not to let them out of their rooms for any reason where they might wander off, she was at the nearest outlet dispensing the black pokeballs Oak had described.

Armed with as many empty vessels as her backpack would hold, Discordus and Azrael, she went to work.

"Take them down quickly, and don't let them show you their back." she instructed the absol and houndoom as the three of them stood before the first of their targets...a tree trunk where three shedinja clung to the bark, blowing a bit in the afternoon breeze.

The first ball was at the ready in her grasp. "Go now." she ordered, as both pokemon rushed forward to begin the counterattack. As each insect dropped to the ground, a ball was flung at it, pulling it within in short order. Whoever had set them loose would soon learn the sisters of purgatory were not to be trifled with.

In a sense, Aang was lucky. All three of his Pokemon had moves that could take down the Shedinja, so even though they were quite a bit lower in level, they were holding their own, albeit with frequent trips to the Pokemon Center.

Anyone looking at him, though, would be hard pressed to draw such a conclusion. His usual cheery grin was completely gone, replaced with a look of grim focus. Despite his usually pacifistic tendencies, even when it came to Pokemon training, he was pushing his team hard and directing them to attack the Shedinja with as much force as they could muster.

Aang's friends had been hurt. He would fight to his death for the people he really cared about - and Aang cared quickly and deeply. Maybe there was precious little that he could have done to help, but that wasn't the point. Aang was the Avatar. He was supposed to save people, and that was what he was going to do.

No matter what it would take to do it.

Elika was considerably less lucky, being armed with nothing but her Phanpy when the call went out; with the Prince now out of commission, however, she had commandeered his Skarmory to join the fight. While Skarmory was incredibly enthusiastic, she was also young, and Elika was inexperienced. Their trips back to the pokemon center had been many.

She'd done enough fighting and seen enough destruction back home. Surely Ahriman's dark touch couldn't extend here, she'd thought; she'd been wrong, apparently. She's lost count of the number of Shedinja they'd fought. Some had fled, some had been successfully captured, though each 'victory' had pained her.

Making her slow way out of town, she spied a young boy with a blue tattoo attack one of the insects with a fire-breathing lizard. It made as if to run; she asked Skarmory to corner it while she went to his side.

"Let's work together," she offered, watching as Skarmory herded the insect back towards Char.

[Ryner wanders through the city streets. Cautiously, so as to not stumble on anything without warning, but not overly so. After all, if Jehra senses danger, he'll make that danger known. He's good at that, and Ryner trusts the Absol's instincts.

Rose, for once, is not sitting on his shoulders, but instead trotting ahead, happy that they get to go outside finally. They've been cooped up for too long because Jehra wouldn't let anyone outside. Too dangerous, disaster will strike if we do, blah blah. She's not worried, though. Her dear partner would never let his soul get stolen by a bunch of Shedinjas.

Jehra stays as close to Ryner's heel as he can without tripping him. He does not like this one bit. He would have been so much happier staying inside, away from danger. And much as he trusts his papa, he can't shake the worry.

The rest of his team is resting in their Pokéballs for now, until something is found. He's ignored the obvious cries of 'find moves that are super effective' (though birds are strong against bugs, and Gail is a Noctowl, but that's more coincidence than anything) and instead picked the ones who know status effects. Making them fall asleep would hurt them less than knocking them out, after all.

It's a pain, but people are in danger, so there's no real reason not to help out.]

[If you come across Hiro today, you'll see him with the whole wrecking crew out. Yanmega, Honchkrow, and Nosepass, all out and ready to take names. He knows they're supposed to be catching the things, but if any of them so much as look at him or anyone else funny, he wants to be ready. He even has his Hippopotas on ready, set to unleash a Sandstorm if need be. At the moment, his Froslass and Blaziken were back at the room, keeping Kyoko, Naoya, and Gemini safe.

He had been holed up for a good deal of the first few days, once he'd gotten a hold of the situation and gathered the bodies he needed to gather into one place. It looked like... he was the only one they hadn't gotten. He'd made some calls, sent out some messages, texts, and e-mails, but nothing much came of it. The whole network had exploded into chaos, and he didn't doubt that a lot of his messages might not even have gotten through.

... In the end, none of that mattered right now. Only one thing and one thing alone did. And that was getting them back. He wouldn't have another Sayaka. He wouldn't have another near-Keisuke or Mari. Sure, knowing this place, something would magically restore things once this was over but... It didn't deserve that satisfaction, did it?

So he walked through the streets, catching whatever he could. Tossing another ball into the air, a Shedinja fresh inside, he sighed.]

If you are out and about in Ecruteak City today, you might see an unusual sight: an Alakazam seemingly leading a Gyarados, Furret, and Charmeleon in a Trainer-less crusade against the Shedinja.

Psychic energy crackles from the enraged Alakazam, as he and dozens of the black Pokeballs levitate a metre off the ground. Similar energy surrounds the other three Pokemon, allowing them to see exactly where each Shedinja was hiding, and to cover each other's weak points.

And if you wonder exactly why a Normal-Type like a Furret would be doing out here, you might want to move out of the way, as it char-grills a Shedinja with a powerful Flamethrower. TMs are very helpful, indeed.

Just because their trainer is out of the fight doesn't mean that they are.

[ Miles is never without Pess the Arcanine when things get serious. Or dangerous. She was with him when he went after Dahlia and Phoenix in October; she was with him when he chased Ken in January. She's the leader of his team and she's Mama Pess and she is simply always there.

But not today. Today she's at the Goldenrod Center watching over Ken and the other Pokémon, and Miles has Pip the Growlithe tagging after him. It's only Pip today, and Miles has his gear in his pocket and his shoelaces tight and he's a child on a mission to steal back some souls. His shoulder bag? Stuffed with Professor Oak's black Pokéballs for Shedninja capturing.

It's probably dangerous to go after soul-sucking insects with one foot-tall Growlithe who'd be able to do nothing but run around in a panic if you went down, but the catch here is that: it isn't happening. Miles doesn't say he'll do something if he won't make it happen, and if he decides he's not going to get his soul stolen until Ken and Heather and everyone else wakes up, he's not going to get that soul stolen, and there shall be no arguments.

But he's tired. He's barely slept, and when he did sleep every night was plagued with terrible nightmares of Ken dying. Or Ken awake and them not fighting (and waking up to an unresolved fight and a soulless best friend). If someone doesn't watch out he's going to wear himself down and eventually walk into a telephone pole or a tree, but in the meanwhile, he's got a purpose, and he's walking down the street towards Route 35 thinking up ways to lure out bugs.

... Approach him? ]

There they were. Three Shedinja, floating through an alley.

I am the bone of my sword.

Shirou didn't care that there were three of them. No, the more opponents the better. The Iron Magus could handle multiple opponents with the right circumstances.

Steel is my body, and fire is my blood.

This would be no different. Shirou could multitask weapons better than almost anyone. The same would also apply for Pokémon.

I have created over a thousand blades.

One, two, three, four, five, six Poké Balls sailed into the air. Out came a Charizard, an Onix, an Umbreon, a Skarmory, a Drifblim, and a Rotom.

Unaware of loss, nor aware of gain.

"These things have an ability that blocks everything but types they're weak against. That's Fire, Flying, Rock, Ghost, and Dark. Don't use any other attacks."

Withstood pain to create weapons, waiting for one's arrival.

"This is the first time we're doing it like this, so listen. We need to work as a team. Saber and Gemini and everyone else are counting on us."

I have no regrets. This is the only path.

"Now..." Shirou grabbed one of the special balls. "ATTACK!"

My whole life was Unlimited Blade Works. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUs8FEsDUZ4)

Six attacks strike out, followed by three balls.

[Though their trainer is down for the count, Riku's team is up and ready to take on the Shedinja.

So, those around the city may find a large Charizard soaring through the air, blasting flames down at the bugs. All the while, a Weavile lashes out with dark type moves and a Tyranitar nails the pests with heaps of rocks.

Blade the Scizor nails them down with a furious combination of Wing Attack, Night Slash, and Razor Wind. All the while, a Haunter giddily floats around, firing an array of dark and ghost attacks.

There might only be four of them out right now, but together they're doing a number on the Shedinja.]

Since the broadcast went out and confirmed that the gears were right, Kuja had been out since bright and early around the outskirts of Violet, a newly evolved Pidgeotto and a certain fencer's Houndour sweeping the area ahead of him; he's quickly established a pattern, barking orders from a safe distance back with Miranda keeping altitude in between fights, playing spotter. There's no trace of the usual shallow fop act - if anything, the focused near-snarl and clipped attitude he's keeping would be slightly frightening focused anywhere but the bugs. He'd had enough of "empty soulless shells" in Bran Bal, and he'd kept his soul in spite of his creator's plans - he was damned if he'd lose it to a glorified insect, let alone let the things function in his area.

His first real pause came when there was a call from Miranda overhead - at least a small area was clear. He held up of the black pokeballs, almost toying with it with a slight, nasty smile. "And just who made the mistake of setting you apart from how your 'natural' kin function, hmmm?"

The Shedinja are probably lucky real interrogation would be pointless.

A soldier is duty-bound to protect the civilians.

This tenet was something that Roy believed fully in, and it was why he was out there combing the city despite the level difference between the median Shedinja and his own Pokémon. But there were ways to make up for disadvantages -- such as plans and sheer numbers.

Which is why, when a Shedinja was spotted floating behind a dumpster, a Houndour lunged at it, trying to bite it -- and when it dodged, it dodged straight into a Combusken's Ember. A black Poké Ball followed up quickly, snagging the Shedinja.

"And be sure to remember the pain."

[Stitch original plan was to hole up in the darkest and narrowest alley he could find, but when he heard the annoucement from Oak, as well as that the PokéCenters was handing out special Pokéballs to catch the pesky Shedinja with, Stitch couldn't resist. Time to show Johto that he CAN be a good citizen!]

[So without a worry in the world and full of determination, Stitch scooped up some black Pokéballs and went out on route to take down as many Shedinjas as he can, armed with a Growlithe, Skarmory, Seviper, Jumpluff and a Mismagius.]

[He just forgot one small little detail.]

[He is still wanted.]

(ooc: so, join Stitch catching Shedinjas, OR try to capture him and bring him to zee police. He will be caught anyway anyhow but if you want to be the one bringing him to justice then just say so xD first come first serve. also this is a placeholder cause I'll be gone and back on Thursday)

[ All Cliff has is a Haunter.

The strongest of his pokémon are useless against these... things, save for one attack from a couple of them. So he must turn to the newest member of his team. Newly evolved, and barely pushing level 27.

But still, it was surprisingly easy to convince his Haunter to fight. Three little words, "I need you", and the ghost pokémon smiled in a way he hadn't since Cliffjumper caught him. He was needed. He was needed. He would not let his trainer down, no way. Levels be damned, he would fight these things.

So Cliffjumper can be found on the outskirts of town, flanked by an Electrike and a Heracross, while his Haunter takes point. If any of the Shedninja get too close to their trainer, Rascal wards them off with a Bite attack, while Moxie can use Aerial Ace to herd them towards Specter's waiting form. Cliffjumper is waiting for the final blow, with a bagfull of the black pokéballs.

They could do this. They had to. ]

[Shiraishi's been helping out with capturing the Shedninjas. It's not like he could just not do something while some of his friends were getting theit souls snatched.

Actually, he's fighting one now with Miyuki the Butterfree.

Most of Miyukis attacks don't seem to be working on the Shedninja, but at least there's Gust which hits the target. Right after, Shiraishi tosses one of the black Pokeballs and captures the Shedninja succesfully.

Butterfree picks up the ball and brings it over to Shiraishi, who smiles a little.]

Good work, Miyuki.

[ do you see this? This is an Arcanine BARRELING STRAIGHT FOR YOU, Shiraishi. With a little kid clinging to her back, no less, but the little kid also has a black ball in hand. Ari seems to have plans of her own and, upon seeing a vaguely familiar face, brakes, turns her head to pluck her trainer up by the collar, and holds her there with an expectant look.

Poor Kisa is just dangling. ]

Ever since the information came through Zack had spent as much of his day out, taking down as many Shedinja as he could at a time. Even now he was working through a new area.

"Alright Sephiroth, use Sing!" he let the Skitty do it's thing, once all the Shedinja in the area were asleep he switched out Sephiroth with Air Strike

"Go, Air Strike, peck all these buggers down!" He was being agressive, but he had to be, not just for Cloud but for himself. He was so scared that the one that had taken Clouds soul might not get captured, throwing himself into this was the best chance he had to forget that worry. He heard the sound of yet another Shedinja going down and tossed one of the empty black balls at it. It was quickly added to the nearly dozen others that were in the 'full' pocket of his bag.
