Log:

If there was one thing that was kinda annoying about having all these rooms, was that Ken spent as much time in Aya's as in his own. He was used to sharing a common space, and having an arrangement where, if he wanted, he didn't have to be around the others was...honestly, kind of lonely. Others might've called him crazy for feeling like that, but being as social as Ken was...

Well, whatever. Aya usually opened the door when he knocked, especially when it meant Ken would be paying for the invasion of privacy with cooking dinner. He liked doing so more than Aya did, after all. So while he puttered around in the kitchen, swaying to the music that he'd almost learned to tune out as white noise, Aya sat reading a book and surrounded by Pokemon.

Aya was used to Ken being around far more than the others by now. It was practically expected that his friend and the Pokemon that went with him would come eventually. There were even times he just left the door open when he came back from a walk because Ken was sure to show up a few minutes later. So the fact that he was here was something that was normal.

Besides that, it was nice that he didn't have to cook. While he could do it, he just didn't bother if he didn't have to do so. And, Ken's food tasted good.

Turning the page, Aya continued with the book he'd picked up here. It wasn't great but sometimes he had to make due just to read something. He didn't even have to worry about the eggs because Lia the Vulpix had taken it upon herself to keep them warm. All he had to do was relax.

Aya looked up from his book when he saw the oven being opened. He knew Ken well enough by now to know that the cooking times had gotten mixed up again. The other was getting better but that didn't mean he was perfect.

By the smell of it...

"The rice isn't done?" He'd been able to see what he was making so he could make an educated guess.

"Yeah, I'll get it sometime. Just...not today, I guess. I keep forgetting how long it needs to rest." Oops.

Ken shrugged, pushing himself off the counter. It wasn't the worst mistake ever.

"You've improved in everything else." Which meant a lot coming from him. It wasn't like he just handed out compliments on a whim. Returning to his book, Aya continued to read. If they had to wait then he might as well do something.

In Aya's world, doing something generally meant reading if he wasn't entertaining Ken.

"Thanks." And Ken realized how rarely words like that passed Aya's mouth, but they weren't exactly anything he sought. Still, he wasn't going to turn them down.

He shrugged and moved into the living room. Might as well sit down while they were waiting.

Aya paid no attention to Ken because he was just moving about the room. What was unusual about that? Nothing at all.

Of course the Pokemon had other ideas and were quite happy to watch. Silently. Very, very silently.

Nope. Really not, with how much time he spent there.

Omi's head lifted when Ken came closer, angling for the chair just on the other side of Aya. When Cu nudged him...he moved, the overgrown ferret darting through Ken's feet just in time to trip him up, right in front of Aya's chair.

Aya heard the patter of feet and looked up in time to see Ken stumbling. His first instinct was to protect but his next instinct was to...Oh hell he didn't know. He was startled and still had the book in his hands. Shifting awkwardly, he tried to catch Ken and keep them both uninjured and keep Pokemon from getting squished.

There was clearly such a thing as doing too much at once. Because Aya failed at his task and ended up with a Ken in his lap.

And his lips...well...there was no denying that there was contact.

The weightless sensation of falling? Yeah, Ken didn't like it. And it was really awkward when he crashed into something solid and warm and yeah that was Aya's face--way closer than it needed to be.

It took a few seconds for Ken to realize what had just happened and the position they were in. At which point he jerked away--not up, just away--hard enough to tumble backwards and flat on his ass.

"What the hell, Omi?!"

Oooh he was gonna turn that damn Furret into a scarf!

[identity profile] secret-sword.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 08:28 am (UTC)(link)
Aya blinked in shock, his brain catching up in time for him to see Cu doing some sort of...dance. And even looking like he was bragging to his fellow Eevee. Coughing, he decided to cover up how well...flustered he was by scolding him.

"Cu, did you just encourage that?" He wouldn't be surprised. Cu had a mischievous streak.

The little Eevee trilled at him proudly. Which caused Aya to cover his face with his hand.

Cu was actually proud of that?

[identity profile] gentiana-clusii.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Ow. Falling like that? Kinda hurt.

"The hell's gotten into all of you..." Crazy Pokemon.

[identity profile] secret-sword.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
Bi, another of Aya's Eevee brought a card over to Ken as if that would answer the question perfectly. Then again, it was one of Free's Tarot cards that had been left behind.

The Lovers to be precise.

[identity profile] gentiana-clusii.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 08:53 am (UTC)(link)
Ken sputtered and turned red--he'd never gotten over his tendency to blush, and this? Yeah, this was one of those things that'd cause it. He didn't know the real meaning behind the card--that was Free's thing to spout off, but Christ, he doubted the little Eevee brigade knew what the hell it meant either and Ken sure could guess what they were getting at!

"...Aya, they've officially gone 'round the bend."

[identity profile] secret-sword.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Aya looked up and noticed that Bi was showing something to Ken. A card. Of course he could tell that it was one of the Tarot cards but he couldn't tell which one it was from his current position.

So he had one thing to say.

"Do I even want to know?"

[identity profile] gentiana-clusii.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Sighing, Ken took the card from Bi and flipped it so Aya could see the image printed on its reverse.

"I dunno, you tell me."

[identity profile] secret-sword.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
He was left staring at the card. As if that could magically make it a different thing. But no, Aya was still looking right at The Lovers card.

"...The Lovers..."

[identity profile] gentiana-clusii.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 09:09 am (UTC)(link)
"Told you." Maybe Youji put them up to this. Somehow. He'd been way too quiet lately.

"Let's just...agree this never happened."

Because it was bloody awkward.

[identity profile] secret-sword.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
"After we find out if there's evidence."

Aya was already grabbing his Gear to make sure it was off. Because he was not going to let Cu go posting things he shouldn't be.

[identity profile] gentiana-clusii.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ken's was in his pocket--he could feel it--but he still pulled it out and made sure it was off as well. And then put it right back, with looks to all his Pokemon that promised he'd do something drastic if they tried anything.

[identity profile] secret-sword.livejournal.com 2011-07-07 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Relieved that nothing had been recorded, Aya coughed and looked over at the food. "So...how is the rice doing?" That was a good enough subject change from this already very awkward situation.
