... With No End in Sight

Where: Route 29, just having left New Bark Town
When: July 17th, afternoon.
Summary: Dustin and his two companions (and their Pokemon) leave New Bark Town.
Rating: PG most likely.

Even though Dustin did have a reservation about being a trainer (and the timid Budew clinging to his head didn't help matters much) he didhis best not to show it. Being primarily Grass types, Marah and Pao-Lin's Oddish were in their element and Dustin kept a sharp eye out for any Flying types like Pidgey. "Man, guys. Today seems pretty warm."

Even though it was daytime, Pao-Lin's Oddish sure was happy to be out of his ball and with the other pokémon. Pao-Lin smiled as she watched her Oddish inspect just about everything he came across before turning her attention to the others. "Yeah, it is. But it's pretty nice."

Ivan, not exactly paying far too much attention to the conversation at hand, was mumbling to himself. "Geez. It really is different from home..."

Having been close enough to hear Ivan's mumbles agreed with a nod. "Definitely a change from back home. At least the weather's not scorching."

After getting sidetracked with her Oddish, Pao-Lin looked over at the two with interest. "Yeah, that's always a plus. I'd rather have it be hot than scorching hot."

Ivan nodded a little at that. "I guess we can just hope that it stays like this during our travels."

"We should still be careful till we make it to Cherrygrove City. From what I remember Flying types like Pidgey are strong against Grass types. But we can take a break for now." Dustin sat down on a nearby rock as Marah looked around.

Oh yeah... she remembered Cliffjumper saying something about there being different pokémon types. And with that, Pao-Lin turned her attention to the sky. "Wouldn't they be easy to spot if they were in the sky though?"

Ivan shook his head. "They still might be quicker than us, in the sky though, right?"

Dustin nodded. "Right. So that's why we should keep a look out until one of us catches a type strong against Flying types. Like a Rock or Electric type."

Oh-- Ivan had a point. If they were as fast as Sky High, then these bird types would be a bit problematic... She then nodded as she quietly murmured rock types and electric types to herself. "It's a good thing we're traveling with you Dustin! You know so much about these things."

Ivan couldn't help but question--they were heading out of the same city. Had he arrived at the same time as them? "... Did you get here a little before we did, out of curiosity?"

With a confused expression i=on his face, Dustin was unsure how to answer that question. He figured it was best to let Ivan know. "Well the thing is, in my world there's a couple of games related to Pokemon when I was a kid. I used to play them all the time when I was a kid. I recognize Oddish from the games but not Budew."

Pao-Lin nodded. "That's pretty cool that this is a game to some people!" She paused, "Well... cool and weird at the same time-- but anyways!" She said as she waved her hand.

"A game? So... someone new about this place before?" To be able to create a game like that... wasn't it a little odd that they were in a place that was like that?

Dustin nodded. "Yeah. I know a little bit about it because of the games. But I only know a little bit though."

"Out of curiosity, what things do you know about in this place?" She asked.

Ivan looked to Pao-ling, and then to Dustin, curious to hear what he had to say. It would be helpful to know, anyways.

"Well from what I remember... When Pokemon gain experience and get stronger, they sometimes change and evolve. Sometimes this is through special stones are even when they are traded to another trainer." He replied as he thought about it.

Pao-Lin blinked. "Stones? Are they special stones?"

"Stones to evolve a Pokemon...?" ... This place was becoming more and more unique as the seconds ticked by.
