[To say that John was "looking forward" to his second date with Rose would be a gross understatement. He had barely been able to sleep the night before they left and ended up knocking on Rose's door at five in the morning because he'd finally given up on the notion of sleep entirely. Plus, weren't you supposed to leave early for camping trips?]

[Unsurprisingly, Rose hadn't expected him that early. She'd given him a very bleary look, stepped back into her room to give her clock a bleary look and then asked "...are we leaving 'lready?"]

[Even less surprisingly...she'd fallen right back asleep the minute they had both clambered inside Elliot and gone on their way. But that was okay. Because she had fallen asleep on John's shoulder and he had absolutely no qualms with that at all.]

[And then a few hours later, his excitement wore off and he too fell asleep. Wow, their trip was off to a great start already!]

[Elliot wasn't the fastest pokemon but fortunately, being a ghost, he didn't really need a lot of sleep. So their four day trip ended up taking only two. Once inside the forest, Elliot went back inside his ball for some much needed rest while the two kids shouldered their packs and began walking through the forest, hand-in-hand.]

[Surely this was going to be the best camping-trip-dino-hunt-vacation-date-extravaganza ever! ~~Also possibly the first ever, because seriously, who besides John would come up with something as crazy as this?~~]

You can insist, not point out. Pointing out is insinuating it is fact, when it is not fact that it all belongs to Casey. Yes, she does account for quite a large portion, but you still have a small fountain of your own.

[He will probably get to make that face a lot.]

Good, because your happiness is my number one concern. [As...sarcastically as he's saying it, he really does mean this. And with one final flourish of his brush, he turns his attention back to Casey.]

There, all done. [She turns and wiggles a little, licking his cheek before scampering away to her corner to go curl up in her blanket nest. She is content and tired and now she is going to sleep. John chuckles and pulls off his glasses, crawling over to his bag to slide both those and the brush in one of the side pockets. After that, he slips inside his sleeping bag and rolls over on his side to face Rose.]

Just so we're clear, I was serious about that.

[[She watches him move and work, idly petting her Espeon before she leaves to curl up with Casey on her little nest. John's next statement catches her a little by surprise, and causes a raise of eyebrows.]]

...That's good to know.

[Ooo yay sleepy cuddles! Though jeez are you okay Guile? You've been sleeping all day!]

Mmm... [He closes his eyes, smiling. He's not asleep yet but it's not like he can really see all that well without his glasses anyway.]

[[She was just really tired. She'll probably leave once you're asleep to go...do something. But cuddles for now!

Rose, meanwhile, watches him a moment longer before closing her own eyes.]]

.....John?

Yeah, Rose?

...Good night.

Good night, Rose. Sleep tight and sweet dreams!

[And any rustling you may hear is not him moving closer, nope. You're just imagining things. He's just getting comfortable and staying in the same spot while doing so. Yup. Totally not inching a little closer. Not at all. ~~Only yes, yes he is.~~]

[[She actually lets the rustling go, figuring he's merely trying to get comfortable.]]

Sweetest of dreams to you as well.

[He contemplates trying to find her hand but...chickens out instead. Oh well, it's not like he isn't going to throw his entire arm over her the minute he falls asleep or anything.]

Heh...we'll see. [What did he just say not two minutes ago, Rose?]

At least try. [[She won't mind. She'll probably be asleep too soon to care, but wouldn't care either way.]]

For you? I will give it my best try. [A light chuckle. And unless Rose intends to continue this quickly dwindling conversation, John will be out like a light in five minutes.]
