Happy reunions with a 60% chance of homicide!

Summary: Heiji arrives in New Bark to meet up with his ~~moirail~~ "Best Friend's cousin" and ~~girlfriend~~ childhood friend.
Rating: PG. Possible injury to Heiji.

[It's somewhere around afternoon when Heiji finally comes riding into New Bark Town on Baskerville, with Basan the Aerodactyl running along behind occasionally flapping - the tail-behind working perfectly fine for exercise if not coaxing the dinosaur to learn to fly; with his original clothes dirty, and half his new clothes now in ashes, he's back in the red and black Ranger's outfit.]

[Compared to how he left New Bark, sopping wet, muddy, and with Bas hiding in his jacket, he's pretty well managed to recover his dignity! And he's scanning the area, riding around the town to find ~~Kudo~~Conan and Kazuha.]

[Let's see how long that dignity thing lasts.]

[ You'd think that the reunion of two childhood friends would be a touching scene full of tears and hugs. The afternoon that Conan and Kazuha were to meet Heiji, she was already there.

Eager to see him? Definitely. But not for the reasons most people may think. ]

Heiji!

[ She waves when she first saw him... and nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first. Kazuha had a happy and excited smile on her face.

There was nothing out of the ordinary in running towards him to meet him.

But if he was expecting a hug --- he couldn't be more wrong...]

[ As soon as she was near enough, she lands a perfect hit on his right cheek.

Seeing his face again in person just reminded her why she was so annoyed with him. The worse thing was that she knew she shouldn't be mad because it wasn't his fault --- yet. ]

Thank you for picking us up, Heiji.

Bas! Basan!

[ With still that smile on her face, she begins petting Bas on the head (Because he was a good dog) and waving hello to Basan. Heiji can wait until she simmers down a bit. ]

[You know, Kazuha, that really doesn't help with Conan's overwhelming desire to remain out of arm's reach at all times. He's sort of hiding behind his Absol.] Heiji-niichan! [He's full of false brightness and cheer, though!]

What'd I DO?!

[ She pretends not to know what he is talking about as she smiled and continued to pet Bas on the head. ]

Eh? What do you mean?

[ Finally noticing Conan, she smiled at his direction too. She does notice he was hiding behind Absol --- a little sorry she scared him. ]

Conan-kun! Did you enjoy your exploring?

[...yeah she's terrifying.] Yeah, I did! I have a Pidgey now too! [He holds up the pokeball, proud as can be.]

Y'don't normally do that unless I really managed t'screw up good an'I don'even know what I did!

[ At first, smiling at Conan. And thinking how adorable it was that he was so proud of his new Pokemon. ]

Congratulations, Conan! You will have a strong team in no time.

[ She gives an annoyed look finally, revealing how annoyed she really is. And THAT was what was annoying. That he doesn't know --- and she also knows she was being unfair to him by taking out her anger on him. ]

Nothing. You did nothing.

[Conan beams back for a moment before burrowing into his face in his Absol's fur.] Nee, Kazuha-neechan... if Heiji-niichan didn't do anything why are you so mad at him? [YOU CANNOT RESIST THE WIBBLY EYES.]

Yeah... I mean, I know I was late for lunch last week before turnin' up here, but - didn't think that was worth gettin' hit... []

[ Conan! You are not being fair! Taking advantage of how much she likes kids. She leaves Bas's side for a while to talk to Conan. She squats down low to talk to him face to face.

She was blushing a little but she says one thing. ]

Hi~mi~tsu~

[ She sighs. No. She wasn't even mad about that. But she would rather let him think that was the reason than let him know the truth. ]

What do you mean it isn't?! Of course it is!

[Women are terrifying, and somehow this doesn't change when he knows he's at least safe from the physical aspect. SORRY, ~~MOIRAIL~~ best bro, I TRIED MAN.] I don't like secrets, neechan. [Yes, that is a pout.]

Wait a minute - you've never been this mad before 'bout bein' ten minutes late, an' why would that be a secret to th'kid?! You're not makin' any sense!

[ Kazuha gives Conan a playful and teasing smile. Her voice is lower now so Heiji can't hear her. ]

Maybe someday, nee-chan will tell you, Conan.

[ Heiji, if you knew what it good for you, you should have just let it slide then. ]

So what?! Maybe I want to be mad that you were ten minutes late!

[Conan is sitting here wondering why he didn't swear off women ages ago. ...Oh, right. As it is, Conan is going to kick his Pidgey's pokeball backwards, away from them.] --my pokeball! [CHANCE TO EXIT: STAGE LEFT.]

I said I was sorry, an'picked up th'tab - besides, do we even know if we got dumped here from th'same time? How do I know you're not hittin' me for somethin' I haven't even done yet?!

[ Conan, you are such a wonderful friend! Feeding your friend to the lions. ]

Conan! Will he be alright?

[ This makes her even more mad. HOW COULD HE DEDUCE THAT AND NOT GET HOW SHE FEELS FOR HIM ALL THESE YEARS?! Dense. Hopelessly dense. ]

It's th'only thing I can think of, 'cause I haven't done anything lately t'make you THIS mad - an' I don't remember doin' anything lately that'd do it - [] So it's gotta be somethin' I wouldn't know about, an' th'only way that'd happen here is if Johto's doin' that screwed up time thing again an'you're from my future!

With Conan making his exit, she is now crossing her arms at him. Listening to his painfully accurate deduction was annoying. He was a great detective. She hated to admit it.

Turning her face away with a hmph. ]

[ That was all he was going to get from her that will ever resemble a confession to that. ]

[ There is no point trying to put sense into female logic.

She doesn't answer. Too mad because he did make sense.

So instead at that --- Heiji earns another hit but this time on the other cheek. He now has a complete set. Stupid boy. ]

[ Saying it low enough for him not to hear. ]

Ow --- [] Hey, I said y'could hit me all y'want when I've actually DONE whatever it is that pissed you off!

[ She gives a terrifyingly innocent smile that still radiated 'I am annoyed with you.' ]

Don't worry. I can hit you again when you do.

Hmph.

[ For now. She does decide to stop. And focus her attention on the Pokemon. At the prize Bas showed, she was greatly entertained. It seemed that Bas did listen to her and killed that awful shirt.

She takes a treat from her pouch. One that the PokeDex said a houndoom liked and feeds it to him. She hasn't forgotten that promise. ]
