Sanada Dojo!

Who: [livejournal.com profile] usedtarundoru, [livejournal.com profile] futariniousama and [livejournal.com profile] usedlaserbeam.
Where: Outside Tennis house.
When: Sunday 10/02. 4:30 a.m.
Summary: Due to some events, Sanada has issued a training session with two of his teammates. And somehow he will make a man out of these two--
Rating: PG (cause it's Rikkai...)
Log:

[It's a little over four am. Now what do people normally do then? Sleep happily in their beds.

Well, not Sanada. He's out there, warming up and waiting for Niou and Yagyuu to show up. And yes, waking up at 4 am to train is normal for him.

Rock the Geodude is also out, ready for some training.]

[ Niou casts a surreptitious glance at Sanada, too, and upon seeing no sign of protest, he reasserts his grip and leverage to lift the Geodude higher, stepping close to Yagyuu so they can drape the weight over their shoulders. ]

[It's a pain, but it'll be worth it in the long run; he grits his teeth and lifts with his knees, getting the Geodude situated on Niou's shoulders before maneuvering himself under and trying to find a comfortable way of holding it.

Spoilers: there really isn't one.

Still, it's much easier to bear it like this, even if it means moving in so close that their shoulders are pressed together, and there's a good chance they might trip each other if they're not careful with their legs when they start running.]

[ It's a hell of a process, getting started, and no amount of intuition or intimate knowledge keeps them from banging their ankles and knees together and kicking each other in the calves a few times during the first lap. But as always, they settle into a rhythm, and they manage to jog the following few laps comfortably, if a bit jarringly.

It's around lap nine or so that things start getting much more unpleasant. The weight of the rock jostling about on their backs is making every step that much harder, and the Geodude's arms are pressing hard into their shoulders, which Niou imagines will have lovely matching bruises by the time they're done. ]

[It's about midway through lap eight that Yagyuu starts silently plotting murder, but by the time they reach the halfway point, even plotting murder would occupy far too much of his concentration. His back is aching, his legs feel like they're on fire, and there's still a whole second half of this to go.

The trouble is, it's also at about the halfway point that his previous fatigue starts to catch up with him, dragging one small noise of pain from his throat before he can clamp down on it again. He may be forced to finish the laps through gritted teeth, but exhaustion be damned, pride and partner always come first.]

[ His eyes dart to the side at the sound Yagyuu makes. He's far too accustomed to his partner bearing this kind of training in silence (while Niou bears it with loud complaint) not to be somewhat alarmed — and resentful. He knows Sanada's not doing this out of malice, but he's tempted to stop, anyway. If he thought Yagyuu would let him, he would.

But he knows better, so he just adjusts his stride to allow Yagyuu to slow down a little, and shifts to hold as much of the Geodude's weight as he can without freeing Yagyuu from it completely. The least he can do is make the remainder of the run a little less torturous, since it's his fault they're here in the first place. ]

[He knows Niou's look is coming from the instant the noise leaves his throat, and he's ready and waiting with a hard, steady one of his own when it comes. It's a slip that shouldn't have happened, honest though it might've been, and the last thing he wants at the moment is concern—a desire expressed through an almost imperceptible shake of his head and a slight narrowing of his eyes. No. No stopping. It's a question of pride, and his—and on some level, his perception of theirs—won't allow it.

But he will allow the slight adjustment in pace, not wasting energy or focus in attempting to protest. Covering each other's weaknesses is a natural part of doubles; that much he can accept. So he makes good use of the advantage he's been given to steady his breathing, gather his strength, and draw up the energy to complete the remainder of their laps—this time, in silence.]

[ It's all Niou can do to set the Geodude down with some semblance of composure, rather than dropping it outright the second they've finished. He doesn't sit, though his legs are screaming, because he's half-afraid he won't get up again. Instead he stands, hands braced on his knees, and breathes deeply, pausing once to wipe sweat from his face with his shirtsleeve.

After a minute, he glances Yagyuu's way with a grin. His voice is low, conspiratorial. ]

So, you gonna let me in next time?

[It feels like floating on air when the weight finally comes off their shoulders, though whether that's from the bliss of no more running or simply the abrupt weight disparity, it's difficult to say. Either way, Yagyuu is likewise doubled over and breathing hard, the edges of his glasses fogging slightly from the temperature difference between the heat of his skin and the cool morning air.

And yet, despite the exhaustion, there's still the hint of a glint in his eyes as he grasps for the breath to reply.]

Next time, try picking the lock first.
