Where: Goldenrod Game Corner
When: Friday night, 18/11/11
Summary: Your overflowing Courage allows you to ask the cute cop lady out to dinner! Don't fuck up before the goodnight kiss, Minato.
Rating: PG
Log:
Minato's got the Pokepowers That Be to thank tonight. Not only did he actually get away with turning a bit of friendly advice into a dinner date, but it was with a very pretty lady, and in a place where he could actually show her a good time. Violet was pretty and all, but Sprout Tower hardly made for good ambience. So it was that dressed in the stylish outfit he'd been given on his arrival in Johto, Minato waits on the main strip of Goldenrod, just outside of the Game Corner. As good a place to meet as any, he figures, and easy to spot.
How long had it been since he was out on a proper date...? He couldn't even remember. Things had always been so busy, with Tartarus and clubs and saving the world, that snatching little bits of non-Social-Link-driven free time had been precious. Now he had nothing but, the idea still novel to him. Minato looked up from the display on his Pokegear and thought about that a second. The enormity of the situation was something- he had a new world, new friends, a new home, and a second chance at life. And now, dinner with a cute girl.
Johto really was pretty cool.

Including the cute dress (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v247/neko142001/Elegant_Gothic_Corset_Dress_JSK_DR00097_01.jpg) and short cape (just long enough to cover her arms) she was wearing today. Of course her hair was up in the usual pigtails. She'd been determined to look very cute for this date since really she found Minato just adorable. She was sure he was much younger than her but that actually made it better. Not to mention flattering.
After convincing her Pokemon that they could come but had to be in their balls, she was off. She hadn't been on a proper date since Gus left. It was time to have some fun.
Still, she was very friendly and open with affections. So the second she saw Minato, Abby walked straight up to him to give him a hug. It was just her nature. "You look so good!"

He had straightforward thinking that way. Minato hesitated a second in her embrace, definitely unused to that, before bringing his arms up to do the same. She looked good normally, but now...wow.
"So do you."

Pulling back from the hug, she gave him the biggest of smiles. Those happened to be something she was very good at. Of course she knew that his were rare but she'd saved every last one of them onto her Gear. Just to prove that Minato was capable of them. Besides that, Abby thought he was so cute when he smiled.
"So where are you taking me?" Curiosity was something she had in spades.

"Down here...there's a little place."

"Did you manage to get more music, by the way?"
no subject
"Not really," he responded, glancing down at the headphones still resting against his chest. "Nobody had anything worthwhile."

Abby was someone who was all about sharing and giving things to people. It was one of her favorite things to do. Everyone she liked was sure to get a present out of nowhere at some point when she wasn't giving them constant hugs.

He nods again, towards the world at large and that endless loop of music. Anything but that- anything but that. Gothic rock wasn't the worst in the world, either, and a nice thing like that even earned another very short, tiny smile. He knew he made a good choice here. Minato turned them down another corner, into a street not much larger than an alleyway, flanked by tiny restaurants and cafes on all sides.
"You know."
no subject
Yep, there was a reason why she had music to listen to. And that was exactly the reason. This world really didn't have great taste when it came to background music for everyone to listen in on. Abby looked ahead to study all the different places to eat. She'd been to a couple already but was always about repeats for a good one or for trying new things.

He hadn't minded it at first, the music actually catchy for awhile during the novelty phase. But now, there was a reason he carried his mp3 charger around in his back pocket- listening to anything on loop for that long was just asking for insanity. He didn't know how other people did it. The restaurants, however, were the main draw for the moment. He frowned briefly, looking down the street, before selecting a little hole-in-the-wall Chinese place, decorated with pictures of Teddiursa and Krabby tanks.
Within minutes, they were seated: he was that much of a regular that the owner had recognised him by name, giving them a nice, cozy little booth in the back, set away from everyone but with a good view of the whole place and the street beyond. Minato sighed quietly as he settled into the seat, looking back at Abby.
"This good?" he asked, cracking open a menu.

Fun and cute. Two things that Abby happened to adore. Which was probably strange for anyone who thought about what a goth should be like. Cute and fun usually didn't walk hand in hand with the description. But, she did like to walk her own path and march to the beat of her own drum.
She had better music that way.
"So what are you having?"
no subject
He's a creature of habit at his core: what little normalcy he could grab in between being shuffled between foster homes and orphanages was clung onto tightly. Hence why shop assistants knew him and knew his usual- it helped him feel like a part of the world. His eyes flick over the menu a few times before snapping it shut. Decision: made.
"Fried lemon Ducklett. You?"
I apologize for the delay!
But the fried lemon Ducklett sounded interesting. Definitely different. She wondered what it would taste like. And if they actually used real Pokemon in it. Somehow she doubted that given how the Officer Jenny's seemed to handle everything. That would be Pokemon abuse. Something that was illegal.
"Is the dish you're having good?"
no worries! this is worth waiting for. :3
A very roundabout way of getting at a point, but still, the boy managed. Minato leaned back in his seat as if he hadn't said anything, relaxed, taking his time to just look at her. Once again, he quietly marvelled at the luck that had got him here, the tiniest traces of a smile in his eyes-- just not reaching his mouth at that second. Pokemon or not, the food tasted good.
aaaaaand then I got sick. we will totally finish this at some point lol
"That's a good idea. I like that plan." And she closed her menu, settling on her choice.
oh bummer that sucks :( take your time with it then!
A greeting back and a smooth rattling off of his order, and he glanced back towards Abby. Under that calm stare was a lot of calculating, a lot of weighing up: how far to talk about himself, should he pay for the meal, what would seem gentlemanly as opposed to just trying too hard?
Burning questions for teenage boys.
thank you for being so understanding!
Namely, get him talking. "What do you do with your free time here? It's something we seem to have a lot of here. I know that I'm not used to it. Maybe I can get some ideas based off of what you do."
no subject
"Training. Keeping fit," he said, idly tapping a finger on the table as he recounted each point. "Music...and I work part-time."
no subject
It was a long and rambling explanation of her idea but that was the way that she talked. Most of her time at home was spent alone in a lab. Any chance to talk to people was a good opportunity in her mind. So, she just kind of let herself run with it.
"Though, I haven't figured out what I would charge for that. The money system is different here compared to America. It's taking a little getting used to."
no subject
Minato never minded rambling, pouring himself a glass of water while she spoke. Listening had always been one of the key points to getting his Social Links up, and now - though his intentions were more kiss-based - was no different at all. She had a point, too...he hm'ed thoughtfully.
"Any Pokemon?"
no subject
It would be much easier to figure out the whole money system that way. If 100 was about one American dollar then 1000 was about ten. That was easy enough to figure out. Abby could find a way to work with this. Anyway, Minato had asked a question.
"Yes. Of course that means getting a place where any of them can be. I know the Breeding Centre is around and so is the PokeCenter. But it might be easier if there was someone around outside of those areas who would just devote their attention to the Pokemon temporarily in their care."
no subject
Minato mulled over the thought, sipping his water slowly, eyes not moving off of her. It was a possibility, certainly, and he knew he'd help if it actually came to pass: but the image of Abby being dragged down the street by a leashed Onix was still funny enough.
"Good idea, anyway."
no subject
Abby smiled sweetly then. One thing she definitely had was a big heart. One that just wanted to take care of everyone around her.
"Then they can get stronger and be happier."
no subject
Which was just weird, and a little too close to home for his own comfort. How was he meant to become the Champion when the amount he understood, even about his own Pokemon, was about the same as all the Shadows back home? Minato's forehead creases, mulling that over as he slid a pair of chopsticks out of their holder, neatly breaking them in two.
"As long as they're happy."
