❁ the hinges move
Who: Yuna
faythful & Rikku
usedthief
Where: Somewhere on Route 29
When: Assumedly when the rain lets up a little? Or maybe not~.
Summary: Y and R of YRP reunite!
Rating: D'awwww, G, probably.
Log:
Perhaps the only upside to traveling in hellish weather like the weather above Yuna right at that moment was that it was a great motivator to hurry up and find her cousin. She knew Rikku still hated the thunder despite overcoming a crippling astrophobia.
Another upside -- yes, Yuna was counting upsides to running through the drizzling rain -- was that she got to carry Valefor in her arms, which the pokemon seemed to enjoy immensely. The green patterned bird didn't mind the rain, but she just didn't have it in her to hop fast enough to keep up with Yuna's pace and short, shallow bursts of flight were all she was capable of.
She imagined that Valefor was very young; Surely her species wasn't meant to be flightless. But she didn't mind one little bit having to nestle the soft, even-tempered creature under her chin to keep her warm.
... Stopping to rest at a clearing, the brunette shook excess water from her hair and wrung out the end of her wrapped ponytail, keeping the Natu in the nook of her arm.
"She should be around here somewhere, Valefor." The former summoner was certain that the animal was intelligent... how she maintained eye contact, responding every so often in her one-worded language.
"You'll love Rikku... really!" Now if she were taking her pokemon to meet Paine? Well... she wasn't going to make any promises.

sorry it took me so long to respoooond! D;
Well, that was before the water level had risen. As she continued on Rikku buried her hands in the water, cupping them so as to slice through the murky liquid. It must have looked a little odd, but it made wading through the knee-deep waters a little easier. (Wonderful weather, eh?)
Eventually the blonde girl came upon the clearing. She trudged through the rain water, coming to a dead halt when her swirled orbs laid sight on her cousin, who, thankfully, had made it safely. "Yunie!" she called out, and immediately proceeded to (attempt) run toward the other. (Imagine, like...a prancing pony. xD)
"Yunie, you made it! I was so worried!"
(Yay! Awesome reunion...in water! 8D I'm keeping in line with the weather forecast...I think? >_< See what happens when I leave for the weekend? D'oh! If this is wrong lemme know.)
it's all good! :O
"There she is." Her hushed whisper was drowned out by a clap of thunder, but it didn't really matter. Shivering, she stabilized the Natu in her arms and adjusted her pace to match the rising water level as the elevation of the winding path waxed and waned.
"Rikku!" To wave an arm meant dropping her Pokemon, so she took to hopping and sloshing around clumsily in the flood, nearly squealing in relief.
[ ooc : nooo you're right! even if this is backdated, the area would have just started to flood-ish. i posted up this log before the weather report came in. i can fix the entry. xD ]
It'll never happen agaaaaiiin! TT^TT
Rikku marched through the murky water, determination fueling her steps. She closed the remaining distance between them with a few leaping motions. "Yunie!" she squealed, any remaining bits of fear or worry washing from her face. "You're here!" She grinned broadly. She made a move to hug her cousin, but stopped when she took notice of the little green thing in her arms. Her eyes almost instantly lit up, and she bent down to be level with the Natu. "Well hi there~ Yunie, is this your pokemon? It's just as cute as on the screen. No, cuter!"
Hands on her knees, she tilted her head back and smiled up at the brunette.
/HUGGLEHUGGLE
"Ahh..." Squinting, only then did she begin to realize how soaking wet the two of them were. And she had to laugh at the absurdity.
"Do you like her?" She adjusted the little bird in her arms, and the Natu blinked up at the blonde in astonishment.
"She's awfully well-behaved... No complaints about the weather. Oh, we should hurry to town, Rikku!" Laughing again, Yuna shook her head ... caught up in the rush of the moment and the urgency of the rain.
/WONDER TWIN POWERS ACTIVATE!
With a nod of her head Rikku agreed. "Right. Let's get going."
She turned her back to Yuna, her head of blonde braids slicing through the air as she whipped around. "It might take us awhile, but we'll make it!" That being said, she started forward.
/FORM OF.... A UNICORN
"You haven't been waiting long, have you? Here in Johto, I mean... When I left, you were still around."
/SHAPE OF...A TRIANGLE!
She paused for a moment, turning her body toward Yuna somewhat "What do you mean I was still there?"
8| .../TRIANGLE AND UNICORN READY TO FIGHT CRIME
Lightning illuminated the flooded scene momentarily and Yuna instinctively hung her head, anticipating the resounding 'boom' that would inevitably come thereafter.
GO, GO DERPDERP RANGERS!
Her muscles coiled tightly as she prepared for the inevitable clap of thunder that was soon to follow. Even expecting it, she still let a quiet squeaking sound when it finally struck. She muttered a few inaudible things in Al Bhed, then slowly peeked back at Yuna. "S-shouldn't be too much further..."
\\\\\\\\\\\\o////////////
"You're right. It'll be okay! We're almost there."
Or... at least she thought so. She'd been a good ways down the path when she bumped into Rikku -- and it didn't look that far at all as far as distance was concerned on her map before she left. At any rate, the scenery and their pace were just too wild and jagged to check the map now, so she plowed on, seeing lights faintly in the distance.
Oh dear, sweet merciful Jesus. xD
"Yeah!"
With renewed vigor she plowed forward, calculating the remaining distance in her head. "Maybe a day? With the water this high and all..."
YUP. 8|
"A day sounds about right... Maybe less if we hurry!" But there was no hurrying in these conditions...
We chose them...this was inevitable.
"I bet we could make it half a day!" Ever the optimist.
their derp levels are now officially over 9000.
If Rikku was ever the optimist, Yuna was ever the ... encourageable tag-along to whatever hairbrained plans they were chalking together.
WAY over 9000.
Somehow, whenever she was with Yuna, all of Rikkus problems seemed to disappear. She knew that, together, they could accomplish pretty much everything.
