Summary: It takes a lot of planning to keep a stubborn person down... or to just have another stubborn person step up to the plate. Fang seems to be that person.
Rating: PG? There might be some action, but nothing too bad.

Phew...

[ It's still mid-afternoon, and the sun's still sorta up. Good thing she woke up extra early today... or not. After that brief incident of blood and Riku's insistence (as well as others') for her to stay in bed a little longer, Xion did obey and has gotten a few more hours of rest.

A few.

Now Xion's slipped out of bed and moving around, gathering things and putting on clothes. Axel the Typhlosion and Bahamut the Gabite stand off to the side while Xion rummages amongst her things for her wooden Keyblade. Once she does, she turns to them, knowing the stern looks on their faces. ]

It's only a walk out, and others are coming... I should at least greet them and show them around, right?

[ Axel puffs out a cloud of smoke in his version of a sigh and Bahamut yelps but doesn't do anything further when Xion moves to walk out of the Center. They follow, trying to be quiet themselves since it seems the staff are busy to look out for her at the moment. Riku also seemed to be out doing his own thing once Xion began to rest. Xion's done this kind of sneaking thing before.

Alright.

[ Fang nods, agreeing easily and unaware of that impending wrath. She shifts the weight of her backpack slightly before grinning at Lightning. ]

Hey, when I give ya your present, will I be gettin' a hug from you too?

[Xion will see a faint smile on Lightning's face when she looks up at her, the ex-soldier having been watching the two of them with a hint of fondness in her eyes; for all her frustration, she really just wants Xion to be happy and healthy. And if that involves launching kites from the rooftops, well, so be it.

For now, however, she smirks at Fang.]

Maybe. Depends on what it is.

[ She sees the hint of a smile on Lightning's face, which causes her to look down, slightly embarrassed. As the two older women talk with each other, Xion holds out the kite and examines it. So, uh... how do you fly this? Do you throw this in the air and it'll automatically float? Or something.

Bahamut tries to show how it goes, stretching out of his arms and doing an imitation of "flying" while running around in a circle on the ground. It's all about the fins, man. 'Course, Xion doesn't really understand, and Axel only shakes his head. ]

Guess I'd better hope I did a good job. Maybe I'll go back and get ya a kite of your own, just in case.

[ Fang's smiling, clearly enjoying this. Sure she's gotten to talk to these two, but there's something incomparable about actually being with them. She considers for a moment. ]

I'll give it to ya inside, though. It's warmer in there. Mind waitin' on that first lesson, Sunshine?

[still smirking, Lightning shakes her head and pushes away from the bench. A kite? Nah, she'll be fine with whatever Fang's gotten her. ...even if it probably involves teasing.]

You probably should wait, Xion. Those need wind to fly, and there's not much of that today. It wouldn't get very far.

Okay.

[ And now the trio walk to the Pokemon Center. Once Xion steps inside...

ONSLAUGHT OF WORRIED NURSES, HOLLA! ] Ack!

[ Fang glances briefly at Lightning. Of course, she should have expected this. Well, don't say she doesn't keep her word: she steps up next to Xion. ]

Hey, go easy on her. She's been with me the whole time, not gettin' into mischief. Asked her to meet me at the train station so I wouldn't get turned around. -Well I wouldn't have done it if I knew just how bad she had it!

[ This last retort is in response to one of the nurse's glares, but none of them seem particularly impressed by Fang's excuse. But hell, she'll bend the truth if it makes Xion's life a little easier. She certainly doesn't care what the nurses might think of her. ]

[Lightning returns that glance: yes, she expected this. It's why they were waiting for Fang before going back inside. At the nurse's glare, however, she shakes her head.]

She took it easy and nothing happened. Lectures and getting angry at her for leaving aren't going to help any of us now.

[She bites down on a comment about them watching their patients more carefully, not wanting to stir up any trouble, but she stands at Xion's side in this, at least.]

--Hey, wait!

[ Somehow manages to eject herself from crowd of nurses to give the kite back to Fang with an apologetic bow of her head. It's just so that Fang could hold onto it, knowing the object wouldn't be allowed where she's going - which is another thorough check up.

Good time for Lightning to steal a peek into her medical file, too. ]

Thank you, Lightning, Fang! [ Tries a small smile, then she's quickly ushered away. You are several kinds of broken ribs, bruised back, burns, and all other crap involved, missy. ]

Maker, I can see why she sneaks out.

[ With a shake of her head, Fang gently puts down her backpack, setting the kite next to it. She'll fold it down in a moment, but there was another reason she had it out of her pack from the start. And that would be the small bundle she's currently retrieving with great care - she places it down and unfolds the edges of that damnable purple cape to reveal two identical eggs. This is why she'd wanted to come in first, so that the eggs wouldn't be exposed to the cold.

She'd considered waiting, after that mess with the nurses, but hell, she'd been looking forward to this. Fang had been expecting to be crystal forever, so even the mundane, even the simple task of planning something in advance had its own kind of joy. ]

There. Pick whichever one you want; I'll trade with ya if you get a troublemaker. You named your ghost for me already - I won't have ya blaming me for any more mischief!

[ Her laughter quiets, but she's smiling. ] Good to see ya, Light.

She wouldn't have to if she'd let them do their jobs.

[Lightning sighs, then turns to watch as Fang brings out the eggs. That was...unexpected.]

Who said I'd blame you? I can handle my own team...even if your namesake takes a while to settle.

[Said with a faint smile, before she looks at the eggs, then back up Fang. The last time Fang was here, they didn't talk much. Lightning had kicked herself for that when she was gone, but had figured there was nothing she could do and just put it behind her. But now, with a third chance...well, she's not wasting it. Now she's just stepping forward, quickly hugging Fang since there's no one looking.]

Good to see you too.

[ Lightning gets hugged back, arms tight across her shoulders to avoid her own side injury. But Fang's well aware of Lightning's dignity and releases her without complaint. ]

Knew I'd get a hug. And that you can handle yourself. This way I just get to say "I told ya so" if it ever comes up.

[ And because really, it's just another way to tease Lightning. Fang glances in the direction that Xion was hustled off towards, wondering just how much time they'll have to themselves. She's got a question or two, but she's still deciding what's important or not. ]

You'd get to say it, sure. But only if you want to get dragged into helping me train it.

[another way to tease? Sure, it can be. But Fang's going to have to get lucky about that, especially since Lightning's following that look down the hall before she looks back at her friend.]

You're worried.

Already happened with Xion.

[ The retort is automatic and well-intentioned; Fang hardly considers herself "dragged into it". But it does give away that the topic's on her mind. ]

Course I'm worried - she's gonna get herself killed at this rate. She's just a kid.

...How much does she know 'bout us? 'bout what happened back home?

[ Because some of that might be helpful in reaching out to Xion, but Fang won't tell her more than what Lightning would want her to know: that's just basic respect. That potential boundary might help her make a decision, since asking for advice is not really Fang's style. ]

[A nod; the "don't see you regretting it" isn't needed here. She can read Fang at least that well.]

Now you know why I was so frustrated with her. I told you she was worse than Snow.

[A headshake, and Lightning curls her hand over her chest. Old habits die hard.]

Nothing. I've been thinking about telling her, but trying to explain all that isn't as easy as it sounds. But...[a glance up at Fang.] If you think it'll help, you can tell her.

She keeps talking about protectin' people. She'd trade herself for her family, just like we did.

[ Fang looks at Lightning. She didn't miss that gesture; her own brand is currently hidden but still there, a reminder of what she goes home to. But after a second she frowns and glances back at the hall. ]

But I don't get it. She seems fine with that, like she's already accepted it. Vanille and I, we chose it cause it was the right thing to do, the only way to make up for what we'd done. And I'm fine with that, like I was then. But I'll fight for every breath I can get, cause there's too many reasons to keep going. Cause as long as I'm alive I can keep protectin' people.

So I dunno. Will she get it? Or will I make it look like more of an option? [ And that's not even going into a lot of the other stuff they did. ]

[A sigh; in theory, sacrificing oneself for friends and family is the noble thing to do and even Lightning would do it to protect her, but she's also been on the surviving end, and it sucks. But try convincing Xion of that.]

She might, if you tell her we weren't human either for a while. I'm not sure, but I think she thinks she doesn't have a right to live because she's not as human as her friends.

Not as- [ She glances sharply at Lightning, but stops herself before completing the question. No, if that's something that Xion wants to tell her, then Xion will do it when she's ready. There's a difference between coordinating with Lightning and betraying Xion's trust. ]

Thanks. I'll remember that.

[ That does help, as it's not something Fang would've thought to mention. She finds herself relaxing slightly, tension she didn't know she was carrying draining from her shoulders. She'd thought bringing that up might touch an old wound in Lightning, but she has to remember that it is older; maybe it's lucky that Light's been here longer. ]

...Anyway, you should take one. I think they're close to hatchin', so I'd rather it meet you first. FIgured this would be practical enough for ya, long as you don't already have a Shinx.

[Lightning nods in the face of that sharp glance; she's said enough for Fang to get what she means without having to be flat out told like she was, and it's obvious the other woman gets it. No need to delve any deeper into that...yet, anyway. Old as it is, Lightning likes to avoid digging into that wound. Still hurts sometimes.

Which is why she'll be focusing on those eggs now, contemplating them with a soft look on her face.]

No Shinx. Just a Pikachu who might get jealous of another little one showing up all of a sudden.

[ Fang hadn't expected that expression, but it's only a surprise for a second - it makes perfect sense once she thinks about it. She can't help a smile. ]

Tell 'em to play nice. You'll love 'em both the same.
