fate/stay drunk; (open)

WHO: [personal profile] Saber the Blue, [personal profile] Saber the Red, [personal profile] Gilgamesh, [personal profile] Enkidu, [personal profile] Rider, [personal profile] Final Dead Lancer, and I'm not sure who else. I'll edit accordingly later!
WHERE: Some poor tavern in Goldenrod City
WHEN: August 21st (backdated)
SUMMARY: What happens when you get a bunch of ancient heroes together to drink?
RATING: PG13+ for drinking shenanigans and possibly violence. It's possible with this crowd.
LOG:

It had been impossible to secure a place for them to drink on their own. A world like this has no need to stop their operations for any man who claims to be a king. Much like for any young maiden who made the very same claim. So here they were, heroes throughout time and worlds, sitting together at a couple tables side-by-side to accommodate them. Heaven help any random passerby who thought it might be a good idea to join in...

Hah! What need is there to apologize for voicing your opinion? He has a body similar to that of classical Greek statues, but yes - his facial expression leave much to be desired. Were it in my power, I could easily change that with swift application of a chisel.

[ Siiiiips. Then her eyes glint as she says: ] You mean to speak of the stone statues that guarded the gates of Mesopotamia? The powerful hybrids of bull or a lion, with that of a man?

[ As a connoisseur of the arts, especially those of fine arts no matter how dated, she would know of this. ]

Well, lest the statue come to life and decide to take offense!

[but oh, that he doesn't have to explain Sumeria's mythical beasts is a nice reminder of why he generally enjoys Nero's company - rarely does he have to explain the oddities of home.] And precisely those, although I must ask how you're familiar with them. Don't tell me they still run about Rome.

I am sure he is kept busy reacquainting himself with a few others. Let us leave him be for the moment, and he'll no whisper of your opinions.

[ She even winks before letting out a bit of laughter at his words. ] They were a subject to be studied about in matters of fine arts. As I just adore the hobby, the lamassu popped up from time to time. Though dated even when I was still alive, they were exquisite pieces of art and history left behind by your Uruk.

Ah, then I am the one who misunderstood, I thought that they were still showing their faces and flying about your city, not relegated to being only carvings. They are -- were, I'm sorry -- interesting beasts to have around. Made life exciting. I could tell some fine stories about them.

[he downs the rest of the beer at that] That's seven on my count.

[ Then she finishes her drink with a satisfied sigh before ordering herself another. ]

A seven on my mark as well. Indulge me in one, Enkidu.

Hmm, very well. There was a time after my friend and I defeated Humbaba and before the whole mess with Ishtar happened that we had been drinking, and something or other of Gilgamesh's fell into the underworld. You know something of my friend's nature when it comes to his possessions being lost, and so he asked me to go fetch this item.

[he follows Nero's lead and orders another drink himself.] Now, needless to say, one does not just get into or out of the underworld.

[ There's a growing smirk on her lips as she listens with rapt attention to this tale. It reminds her of a memory she has of Seneca, regaling her with tales and other snippets of philosophy over a comfortable fire. Like a father would to a daughter.

But she is quick to snap that memory away for the moment. ]
There is always a price, yes?

Well, I did some foolish things before heading down - it's not advised that you wear clean clothes, or sandals, be annointed with oil or even take so much as a walking stick with you, lest you attract the attention of the dead. I did all of these things, and so the dead found me - a live man! - in their midst, and in their jealousy of my life attempted to prevent my return to the world of the living. I could tell you of how they attempted to do so - rocks to my feet and hands, swarming me so that I could not move - but it was all nothing compared to their eventual decision to drag me in front of the Queen of the Underworld and beg her to restrain me for all time. I think that was the second day I was down there - I hadn't had water or food, and so my strength and mind were not what they should have been.

[he pauses when his beer arrives, taking the presence of his beverage to wet his lips before continuing.] My friend had become alarmed when I wasn't back within a day, and so he did what all wise men did, and he prayed to Enlil, to Enki, to Shamash to allow another hole to the underworld to be opened.

That hole opened, as holes always do, just as Ereshkigal was about to pass sentence on me. Such hole was a sign for her to stay her judgement, and I ran from the underworld without a second thought, clutching the item that my friend had dropped.

I can't tell you how long I ran or how far it was, only that I was surrounded by darkness for so long that I thought it all a cruel trick and that the dead were toying with me out of spite. I thought it all the way until I was out of the hole and my friend was standing at it's entrance, arms opened and expecting. I clung to him once I realized where I was, dropping the thing he had begged me to retrieve, because never before or since had I had such a scare.

[he takes a longer sip of his beer this time, then lets out a low, depreciating laugh] Well, not until I found him here.

[ When Enkidu was telling his tale, Saber had to smirk and say under her breath, "there is a world down under!" before she continues to listen. Such an exciting and invigorating tale... lol, Gilgamesh praying to gods: DEUS EX MACHINA LMFAO-- no no, Nero keeps her composure throughout the story.

She's just smiling very widely at the end, but that could be for an entirely different reason. Yes. ]
Ahaha! And it is a happy ending to that tale, yes? [ She is briefly distracted by the arrival of her own drinks - yes, she ordered five more so that she wouldn't have to constantly call the waiter. ]

Not so much. [he's had enough to drink that there's no need to obscure where in his own timeline he rests] In my friend's experience, I have died and he has grieved. I myself rest on the cusp of falling ill. He told me all of what was to come when we found each other here. [and with that, the rest of his beer is downed.] And you know how that story goes.
