[The meetings had gone surprisingly well, in Lightning's opinion. No one had tried to jump her, and they'd all agreed to wait a couple of days until the storms could blow over. So here they were, in the ground floor of a back alley building, just like the last time she did something like this. Only this time, she's much tenser as she stands before this small group of people. There are things they need to know, things that she needs to tell them, and so she takes a deep breath. At least her voice is steady.]
You've all seen or heard about Team Rocket by now. I've told you who they are and some of what we know they've done, and you all decided to come here. But what you should know before you make any sort of decision is that Team Rocket isn't above attacking you directly. If they see you as a threat, chances are that they will go after you and there may be no one around to help you. You'll be assigned to squads, but I can't force you to stay with them, and even greater numbers may not help you. [she pauses, looking at these people, one after the other, with a stern look in her eyes.]
I'm not going to lie and say this is going to be easy, or that we'll be able to do any good. They outnumber us at least five to one at this point, and if you think you could do more on your own, or you want to leave, there's the door. What you do from here is your call, not mine.
[And with that, she crosses her arms over chest with a quiet sigh. Fielding questions? She can do that.]

His surprise shows for a brief moment, then he gives a warm nod.]
It is indeed. Good day, Judith.
[Handshake?]
no subject
Good day to you too, Ondorus. [ when that's done, she's letting go of his hand and lacing her hands together behind her back. ] You're interested in helping?
no subject
["Helping". That's a great, spirit-lifting, purpose-affirming way to put it. Takes the edge off of some of his worry.]
In good conscience, I couldn't not be.
[Olivia flutters a little and chimes in:]
We're going to protect our comrades!
no subject
Yeah. We're all going to. [ she says it like she's certain--and she really is. no matter what team rocket does, they'll be okay. ] I didn't think you the type to be used to fighting, though.
no subject
No, not exactly. Or, I should rather say, not personally.
[He adjusts his glasses a little.]
But defense, at least, is something I understand quite well.
no subject
Defending is good, but it's not wise to go into a fight knowing only that.
no subject
In that case...I hope it's not true, what they say about old dogs and new tricks.

Olivia stares intently at Judith...
and nods emphatically. Ondorus chuckles.]
With an assessment like that, I'd be a fool to refuse.
no subject
[ sincerely. ]
no subject
Do you have any travel plans imminent?
no subject
I'd thought about it, but it's not too bad to stay still once in a while; especially in a place like this. Though I also don't mind moving, if it comes down to it. [ then, a bit of a hum. ] Are you planning something?
no subject
And I'd like to see a bit more of Goldenrod, as well. I'd never visited a city until now.
