[ it is Halloween night and there are kids running around in the streets. here and there, all dressed up. carrying bags. now even though Karkat had been here for a year, the last Halloween he had spent inside. too much crazy for him to venture out at that time. so this year, now that the insanity is over, he might as well get out right?

well that had been his thought, waiting for Vanitas just outside the inn. now, Karkat is aware of his height issue. he's a short kid. even some of the ones "trick or treating" as it is called, are taller than he. but he has no bag. isn't even running around. yet he already has at least one hand full of sweets.

he snorts, starting to regret his costume choice. ]

[Karkat won't have to wait much longer (getting freebie candy) before Vanitas finally steps outside, wearing this number. It's a little snug, but it looked too cool to pass up entirely. The costume helmet sits a little too strange though so he opted for his own helmet in the end.

Lifting the visor to give Karkat's costume a look over, now that it's all on, Vani quirks a grin.]

Nice. [Going to reach and flick one of the horns on that helmet, looking a bit amused.] Miss your own horns enough?

[ that's right Karkat is sporting something similar to this. he growls as the plastic helmet is flicked, only because it's too big for his head. ]

Gee. Do you like leaving nothing to the imagination or what?

Don't know what you're talking about. [He can't help a laugh when the helmet slides back. Reaching, he'll fuss with it a little to try and get it to sit right, but nope. That plastic thing just keeps shifting side to side, so he gives up.]

[ yeah, Karkat is just about to give up on it. it slides forward again and he pushes it back.

all the while? a little old lady comes out of nowhere, coos at Karkat, and pops a bit of candy into his hands.

Karkat just sighs and rubs at his temples. ]

That's been happening for the last fucking hour.

[...... Going to laugh. Sorry, boyfriendo, that is absolutely hilarious.] At least you get free candy?

But why? I'm not one of those fucking brats running around.

[Holds a hand over that helmeted head and then measures how tall Karkat is on himself.] That's why.

Watch it before I kick you in the shin. Or bite your fucking ankle.

Or I call off this date.

[Rolls his eyes and flicks that helmet so it falls backwards. With the new space, Vanitas leans down and bumps his nose against Karkat's forehead, careful about the chin guard on his own helmet.]

Just having a little fun, since you're the one who is going to get all the free candy you could possibly want just by standing there.

[ he just watches it fall back, not even going to bother to pick it up. ]

Jealous?

[ sure sounds like it. ]

Maybe. [Going to lightly pat at his pockets and hands, nose nudging a path down to sit next to Karkat's. Making a light pout? Yeah.]

[ hrrrnnn. fine. have a quick kiss to the lips. ]

I'll share, dumbass.

We should get a bag or something then. How many pockets do you have on that anyway? [Clearly, that smooch is all he wanted because Vanitas is brightening right up and tipping his head a little more to return that little kiss.]

Not many. But why? It's not like we're actually doing any candy hunting...

[ have a few paps to the cheek. he really *does* want to get this under way. ]

I guess. [Still going to look almost derpy with his broad smile. He'll step back though and lean down to pick up that fallen helmet, lightly plunking it on top of Karkat's head again.]

[ swats at. only because there had been thunkings involved. B[ ]

I can't believe I'm doing this... Going out looking like a moron.

You look fine. [The swat prompts a light bat back, before he's curling his arm across Karkat's shoulders. Lead the way, Viking man.]

[ rolls eyes. ]

You only say that because I'm your boyfriend.

[ off to a little diner they go. mostly because Karkat doesn't wish to eat a whole lot. not too hungry, but just hungry enough. ]

Horror movies are the only thing playing and I don't know about you, but I've had enough with goddamned possessions.

I say that because you look fine. [Following easily, and he's at least still working on expanding a variety of foods eaten at least once.]

Yeah, I could go without seeing another of those network posts where someone is being crazy due to possession.

Johto is weird around "holidays". [Once they're in the diner and sitting, Vani is ordering a burger for a change. Bacon cheeseburger.. It always looked good when Karkat ordered it.]

[ because it is good. like Karkat would order anything nasty. but... okay maybe this once. he's getting a chili cheese god. because some times disgusting things are amazing too. ]

What was so bad about them?

Sucked the soul right out of anyone who looked into the hole on their back. [Yeah, he kept Ventus in one room with all Pokemon on patrol throughout that "event", even when the blond wanted to go help people. Nope nope nope.]
