Finally! Jake had been so psyched to get to Violet City ever since Hope mentioned the Ruins of Alph. He probably missed that shindig, but it didn't matter. After all, he had two pals to join him on an epic adventure through some old ruins!

He'd just sent Mabel a text telling her he'd gotten there. After a bit of planning, they decided to meet up at the Pokemon Center. Heck, it was one of the few buildings Jake could easily recognize in that strange new city. He was surprised that it was pretty small and quiet. If all cities were like this one, then maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Anyway, the teen was waiting outside. Maybe he was a little early, but he didn't like to keep a girl waiting!

[Mabel is excited. More excited than she usually is about things. Because this time it involves a boy who isn't totally crazy and doesn't want her to be any sort of queen or bride or whatever. Ugh, it still gives her the willies sometimes just thinking about Gideon. And those gnomes.

But Jake is different! Jake is normal. At least, she really hopes he's normal. He could've been lying, but she gets a really good truthy vibe from him, so he probably wasn't. Which is good!

Dipper isn't all that excited, but she guesses that's okay because she's probably more than excited for both of them. She just wishes he'd stop being all paranoid. Gosh, Jake isn't going to kill them, sheesh.

She's bouncing up and down with Pogo when she spots Jake in the distance. She grabs Dipper's arm and tugs at it, screeching, pointing frantically at the figure she's recognized as Jake.]

EEEE!! Look Dipper! It's him! It's him!!

[She lets go of Dipper's arm to wave with both arms at Jake.]

JAKE!!

[She nudges Dipper with her elbow.]

C'mon, Dipper.

[Which is a signal to RUN AT HIM FLAILING YOUR ARMS that Dipper will probably miss. Because he's lame.

But Mabel isn't. And is indeed running at Jake and flailing her sleeves and when she gets close enough she LEAPS AT HIM.]

[I really hope he catches her.]

[Okay, considering Mabel's history of suitors after her hand, it's not totally unreasonable for Dipper to be wary of a guy she's been talking about. What is this paranoid nonsense, he's just trying to be careful and look out for his sister. He had to admit, though, the weirdest thing about Johto was...well, Johto, but he was starting to think he'd take this place over murderous bad candy monsters any vacation time. It could be worse.]

[He's happy Mabel's so excited, but this is a little ridiculous.]

Mabel he's not a celebrity I don't see why you--MABEL!

[Yep. She's off. Just like that. Leaping at people she's never met before. He can't say he's surprised but it still freaks him out. Pogo still weirds him out only because he can't shake the fact that it will die if it stops bouncing and really it's just a jumping anxiety point.]

[And all things said about "oh no men trying to take/kill Mabel," Jake was apparently a 15-year-old teenager and Dipper's got his plan ready. Hands in pockets, play it cool. But not the cool that makes him say really stupid things that he doesn't realize are stupid until he says them. The kind of cool that...that...okay he has no idea, and his hands aren't even in his pockets, he's holding Togepi in his arms and rarely lets him go.]

[Dipper's just going to make a face from afar.]

[He waves...and lucky her that he has pretty quick reflexes. Jake does manage to catch her and grins.]

And I take it that's Dipper over there? [The guy waves at her twin brother cheerfully enough.]

It's nice to finally meet you two in person!

[Shoosh, Dipper, he's totally a celebrity in her book. Because, wow, a guy who isn't completely terrified of her or trying to make her his queen or something crazy. Ugh, boys, seriously. They're all over the place. But this one is juuuuuust right! She hopes, anyway.

She pulls back from the hug and rolls her eyes in Dipper's direction.]

Yeah, that's Dipper. HEY, DIPPER, STOP BEING A LAME-O AND GET OVER HERE!

[She makes a silly sounding scoffing noise.]

Gosh, I don't know what his problem is. Look at how cool you are!

[And to emphasize this she holds out both of her arms like she's presenting Jake to someone. (Namely Dipper.) But then she leans in and tries to hide her mouth with her sleeve as she whispers.]

I think he's just jealous.

[Dipper waves back half-heartedly, and Togepi mimics him. He rolls his eyes when Mabel yells for him, but okay he's been called out and apparently they're not going to come to him so he'll just. walk over all grumpy-but-trying-not-to-be like. The "cool" part is kinda what he's concerned with damn his preteen insecurity.]

Uh, yeah, hey. Jake, right?

[And fairly pointed "I HEARD YOU" stare at Mabel, though he really didn't catch what she said. He just knows what she's probably saying. Twin senses and all.]

[Jake grins and chuckles at them.]
