And you won't be satisfied 'til you see

Who: Emmy Altava ([personal profile] snapandscoot) and Jean Descole ([personal profile] scientificflair)
Where: Saffron City
When: Backdated to Christmas Day
Summary: After spending time at the Lake of Rage with Kimblee and co., Emmy decides to take Descole up on his offer of a place to stay in Saffron City.
Rating: PG-13 at the very, very worst
Log:

Even though she had, admittedly, rather enjoyed her time at the Lake with Kimblee and Isaac (Archer did not count), Emmy was glad to get away for a bit. Not to mention the fact that heading off to visit Descole in Kanto meant she got to ride on the Magnet Train! It was always such an exciting experience; even her scooter couldn't go that fast, and she'd done some serious speeds on that thing!

It had been quite a while since she'd last visited him, and the circumstances of her last visit had been rather different to those at present. But this time, Emmy didn't want to speak a word about Team Rocket or that horrible Seth person. They were spending a few days together over the holiday period and she was not in the mood to discuss something so painfully negative. She'd wondered about whether or not he knew that Professor Layton had left Johto and returned to London, but she didn't really want to broach the subject with him. Descole's moods were, at times, rather unpredictable, and she didn't want to risk upsetting the atmosphere by bringing up the Professor.

Maybe one day he'd tell her why he hated him so much. But for now, she happily hopped off the train and scampered into the Saffron Station, turning around to see if she could spot him.

Much to Descole's chagrin, as of that morning, he had actually had to convince himself that this was not, in fact, a terrible idea; such thoughts hadn't even occurred to him until he was leaving for the train station - at which point, naturally, they hit him in full force and suddenly standing her up felt like an overwhelmingly valid course of action. He had managed to dismiss the thoughts eventually - while it still gave him pause, the knowledge of exactly what Emmy had managed to do to...several of his henchmen while he was trying to raise Ambrosia made the decision far, far easier - but unfortunately, that did nothing to quell the sheer amount of...something that wouldn't stop lingering in the back of his mind. He couldn't exactly place what it was - the closest thing to it was likely nerves, but that was absolutely ridiculous.

Absolutely.

Ridiculous.

However, when it came to finding him, at least this time Emmy would be able to do so without trying to scan all the faces of every blond person in the crowd; he was wearing the usual outfit today, mask firmly in place and his cape tugged a bit closer about his shoulders than usual. Even though the veritable Stormageddon had passed and the station itself was decidedly warmer than it could have been, it was still incredibly brisk.

It didn't take him too long to find her milling about, despite his general annoyance that tended to crop up in places like this (why was everyone here so tall?) and he was quick to approach her.

"There you are; good to see you've made it in one piece."

Descole accepted the gift easily, managing to do so without freezing up entirely or looking like she'd-

...all right, no, he was still looking at her quite like she'd sprouted a second head. But he managed to recover quickly enough.

"You didn't have to bring anything for me, Emmy."

He smirked a bit at that, actually; it wasn't surprising that she'd remembered - as little as Descole actually cared for Layton, he was well aware that the man wouldn't be associating with simpletons who would be unable to remember something that had come up so many times before - but at the same time it was pleasant, somehow.

"Well, I suppose that would depend on how much of the city you would like to see during your stay here; I do have somewhere I'm staying in town, should you want to leave your belongings there beforehand."

This was...strange, what with how casual it all was; it wasn't quite natural, but it wasn't anything he was going to protest against, either.

...all right, maybe his lack of friends was a bit obvious...
