There's more than one way to skin a rat, Ziva. [HURR.] And I'm all right. Training gets tedious if I don't come up with new ways of keeping things interesting.

[And at this point, she notices the circling Absol and motions toward her, prompting Misty to pause in place.]

I don't think you've met Misty yet. We're in no short supply of Absols around here; she's the third I can immediately think of among the people we know.

[wait isn't that one cat too. I'm confused.]

That is true enough.

[She doesn't even have a giant roster to cycle through yet. :C]

I do not believe that I have. I can't say that I have seen any of them either.

[She turns more towards Misty, slowly going into a crouch to get closer to her level and holding out a hand.]

Agent Cooper has one named Melanie, and Dr. Reid's was his starter, Yang. I ended up inheriting Misty a while back from another agent; he left Johto and she found her way to me.

[Moderately curious by this, and feeling generally less suspicious with every passing moment, Misty pads over to carefully investigate this outstretched hand, which in turn will give Ziva a chance to examine her more closely.

Especially that scythe blade on her head. Nice and sharp, that one.]

She is beautiful.

[Apparently Ziva's appreciation of sharp things runs up to and includes Pokemon with sharp appendages. Even if said appendages are a scythe sticking out the side of one's head.]

[It's not that Misty is unloved or neglected in Carmen's roster — far from it — but she's always been an odd one, even among the members Carmen's inherited from trainers who have left. She's rather like her original trainer, really. Stoic, reserved. Never quite wholly trusting Carmen the way most of her animals do, but still with a solid foundation of rapport with her.

Ziva, on the other hand, is new and curious. Carmen was once new and curious, too, and Misty'd consented to be petted then. It's the same way now.]

They're said to predict natural disasters, and to try to warn people in advance of their coming. Unfortunately, that's given them something of a reputation as a harbinger of doom, instead.

[Must be an Absol thing. Ziva scratches near the base of her scythe, a little smile on her face.

Someone never had a puppy or a kitten as a child okay.]

They are just trying to help, I'm sure. Unfortunate that their intentions are misunderstood.

[After what seems to be a moment of considering this, Misty proceeds to decide that yes, scratchings are okay, and contentedly moves into it.]

It's not so unusual, trying to do good and ending up with a bad reputation for it.

[And Carmen's just watching, smiling.]

She likes you. She certainly didn't take to me that fast.

[Eeeeeee. Ziva was obviously someone who needed pets as a child because the look on her face is kinda dopey. As much so as it gets for her, anyway.

As much as she protests the stupidity of Pokemon world she really has gotten to enjoy it. IF ONLY MORE THINGS HAPPENED.

She found you after losing someone else. Perhaps that affected her.

To be fair, her previous owner was always somewhat wary of me, too.

[Of course, he was one of those massive suited stoic types, so he was always wary of pretty much everybody, to be honest. The Absol suited him.

Speaking of which, Misty is actively pushing her head into these pettings now, because yes.]

She's a good girl. Quiet, well-trained. Remarkably fast with that blade of hers. And surprisingly graceful.

She almost sounds like someone I know.

I'd assume that I never met them, but I cannot really recall.

[Having apparently been here before and all.]

His name was Agent Reese. I don't know if that rings a bell, but it's where she gets her name. Misty Reese.

[MYSTERIES. Hurr, she's funny.]

You should keep her for a while. A new face might do her some good — it's already doing her better than she's been in a long time.

It does not, but if I met him in my prior stay here, I wouldn't remember.

...she is yours. I would not want to just take her from you.

[She shrugs a little.]

I want what's best for her. And it's not as though we aren't both living out our lives in the same overlapping area of the world the vast majority of the time anyway. Spend some time with her and see if you hit it off; in the end, we can leave it up to her to choose where she'd rather be.
