[It was pretty easy for Sora and Ven to get everything prepared, because they were hardly alone. Everyone who showed up early helped with decorations, and Hikari helped keep the zanier ideas in check - no longer would it rain glitter on Riku when he entered the room, she pared him that fate.

As the hour of the party drew close, Sora went to pick up Riku. The plan was to usher him to the building blindfolded and get him to the room they'd reserved. If Riku saw the outside, the surprise would be spoiled. And so, while waiting for the birthday boy to arrive, Ven flicked off the lights and prompted everybody to hide.

Any minute now, Sora'd be back with Riku...]

She had to smile at the nuzzle, tucking her fingers to rub under Sakura's chin and cooing softly again. Keeping the motion up, she glanced to him again. "What can I say? I must just have a charming personality~"

He only hummed and nodded, just looking at the two. Although it was minimal, something in Sasuke's expression softened at that. He was kind of glad that his Riolu wasn't scared stiff of everyone there anymore.

Only kind of.

Because it didn't make her useless in battle. Not like he was actually worried or anything.

She wasn't paying enough attention to notice the softening of his expression at first, too focused on playing with a Pokémon who actually didn't look like it wanted to kill everything around her. By the time she glanced up, she did catch it, familiar enough with the subtle ways Neji's expressions could change to notice it, and just giving him another smile.

"Well, any time you want me to pet her, I think I can handle that much," she added, hugging the small Pokémon closer. "Or well... anything, really. I don't have all that much to do here, still..."

"... Whether she wants to be petted or not is up to her," Again Sasuke only nodded, glancing away as he felt his face heating up just slightly. Sakura seemed to approve of the motion and pushed into Tenten's hand more, even if she was starting to get a little tired. She was, after all, still quite young.

It wasn't something Sasuke missed either, and he glanced at her from the corner of his eye before asking, "How have your pokemon been treating you?"

She kept rubbing her fingers over the Riolu's head, paying special attention near her ears and along her back. A glance up at his question as she hugged the Riolu again, then shrugged.

"They're great... I have a bunch hatching tomorrow or the next day, but right now it's just Feng, Kama, and me. They're my Skarmory and my Sentret." She laughed a little, pressing her nose to Sakura's head again. "They're not the friendliest, that's why I didn't bring them along. Out of their balls, I mean."

He sighed a bit, shaking his head and mumbling, "Except one, I've gotten nothing but friendly pokémon."

"I think I'd rather that. Have you ever tried to cuddle with a Skarmory? They like me, but not any other Pokémon near me... other trainers they don't really like either, if they're in too close. I don't know how long it took for Feng to stop hissing at Joonhee-niisan. I just hope they'll be okay with the babies."

"You won't know until they hatch," He mumbled then, glancing down at the ground with a thoughtful frown.

"..."

"Yeah... if nothing else, could always make sure they're in their balls, when the others hatch."

She hummed a little thoughtfully, then gave Sasuke another glance, an eyebrow lifting at that expression. "Something bothering you, Sasuke?"

"... No."

It wasn't true in the slightest, of course; he found himself wanting to go home, to train there, and to work himself harder towards his goal. And, although he didn't dare admit it (even to himself), he actually missed having Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi around. But at the time, it was really the only answer Tenten would get from him.

"Right..." This rookie really was like Neji, all short sentences and hard to read. She just shrugged and gave Sakura one more nuzzle before offering her back. "Well, be careful. Maybe your Pokémons' friendliness will rub off on you~"

He just gave Tenten a flat stare before he took the sleeping Riolu back, returning her to her pokéball a moment after. Fat chance, he thought to himself, but little did Sasuke know that it was in the process of happening already.
