Thank God It's... Valentines? Just party like it's a Friday!

Where: the Other House backgarden, on the outskirts of Goldenrod and Route 34
When: Valentines Day Evening
Summary: In an attempt to keep people from needing to use their own lights, as well as having fun and letting his garden shine as it should, Father's hosting a garden party!

It was no secret that the Other Father loved to garden, and more as such loved his garden. If he wasn't working with music or children or working in general, he was usually to be found in the garden, planting some new seed, harvesting some strange berry, or pretty-ing up the place with lights and ornaments. With the complexity of the garden, one wrong placement could have made it cluttered; Other Father's placements made it look wonderful. Just like the Otherworld, the family garden was indeed a fantastic garden.

The family garden always glowed, but it struggled as it tried its hardest to grow over the neighboring lights of Goldenrod, never quite looking as beautiful as it should. Father was sure the garden was sad, just as he was that it couldn't fill its potential... and then the blackout was announced. The blackout in which most Goldenrod facilities and homes would turn off their lights and leave the skies dark, to dim their lights for a loving mating season of two marvelous Pokémon. And it gave him an idea. The blackout was optional, so if he were to host an open garden party, then those who attended wouldn't need to use their own lights! Let the garden glow, stop a couple of houses glowing! In his mind, it was a good deed that could work.

And so the garden had been set; the multi-coloured lights shone around the plants and berries and plastic bird-Pokémon, they draped over the branches of the living centerpiece that was the tree, its treehouse that the children had built sat alongside the net of tiny bulbs; they continued onwards and illuminated the performance area, draped over the speaker and around the microphone stand, the area that placed beside the BBQ (luckily not let lit) that still had no idea who would be its cook. Father and his little helpers had made sure the garden was perfect, just like his family and their home.

Tonight would be magical if all went well, and he sincerely hoped it would help the cause of love; there was never quite enough of that, especially on Valentines day.

Hm...if it's something that no one knows about, I don't think it can be particularly effective. That is to say, if it were having a big effect, we'd have heard about it, right? [ That's her logic, at least. ]

Ineffective may be right. It's...much less militant than where I'm from! I suppose I am not used to the comparative lack of consequences.

Yeah. They want to start small and then swell. They want to make sure it's covert enough to mess with the rockets, but not make themselves a target!

I'm not used to it either, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I mean, it just means I keep on being my usual self and not get into trouble. It'd be shameful for a Shinigami who has a high rank to end up a criminal. [ like Rangiku :x ]

That makes a certain amount of sense, although I'm not sure how well that balance will work out! At some point, you have to show your hand.

Ah, so you have a high rank back home?

[tendered]

Yeah, but, until then, they're just going to mess things up with really subtly. When they have the resources to declare war, they'll do it!

Yep! The second highest rank possible that the average person can reach. Like, excluding the head captain and stuff.

You're talking about it like you're a member, you know!

[ Aradia looks suitably impressed. ] I see...so, you must have worked really hard, then!

[tendered]

I'm not! I just know people that are in it, that's all! [ Obvious Lies. ]

I did! I woke up at five thirty every morning and trained on my own and I did all sorts of paperwork until twelve! It was totally worth it because I could spend more time with my captain! [ she really really likes captain aizen. ]

[timelymaid]

[ Amusement, but she won't push it. ] I hope they succeed.

Your captain...?

[tendered]

Yeah! Captain Aizen! He's one of the smartest and strongest people in the Soul Society and I am his lieutenant so I'm directly underneath him! He's so charming and he tries his best to make the fifth division the best division! [ Momo stops doting for a bit, her face kinda changes into something that's more morose. ] But I'm nowhere near as strong, or smart or powerful as he is so I really have to start training hard if I want to fill in his shoes.

[timelymaid]

[ That sounds very flushed and Aradia's actually kind of charmed by it. Momo, you're cute. ]

Hm...well, I think if you train hard, you can achieve whatever you put your mind to. You're that kind of person.

[tendered]

You really think so? Thank you, Aradia! That means a lot to me! I know I'll have to train very hard! I'm supposed to be the second strongest person in my squad, and what if Captain Aizen has the flu and I have to lead the squad and make him the best chicken noodle soup ever... [ she shakes nervously. ]

[timelymaid]

I do! And taking care of someone who's sick and leading a squad at the same time sounds hard. Do you have to do that often?

[tendered]

Only once in the past century, but it was really bad! It lasted for two months, and we thought he had a really bad disease at first. But Captain Aizen goes on frequent trips with the other Captains, so sometimes I'm left to run the squad for weeks!

[timelymaid]

So you've had a lot of practice! I'd like to meet them sometime, if I ever get the chance. Either here, or...somewhere else, I guess! What are all your squadmates like?

[tendered]

Besides Captain Aizen, we don't have a lot of high ranking squad members. A lot of them are just very friendly, peaceful people. They can be kinda spacey sometimes, but they're always eager for our squadly training! Or our other activities like the annual yearly festival where we all put up booths and visit each other's stations! I face paint people at my booth! Everyone's amazed at my artistic ability, but I usually cute up any animal that's requested of me!

[timelymaid]

Oh, you do face painting...? Maybe if there's ever a festival here, you'll be able to do that as well. I wouldn't mind getting my face done, anyway, if it were for fun like that! Actually, this place has more parties than I ever would have imagined, back home.

[tendered]

I do all types of paintings! I'm very artistically talented. I did the illustrations for the newspaper back home! But I'd love to do a face painting. I'd be sure to make you really look like a ghost!!

And yeah! Back home, we'd have parties here and there but this place seems to be festive all the time.

[timelymaid]

Oh! That would be fantastic! [ you speak to her heart, Momo. GHOST FACE. ] I really hope there's a festival soon, then...!

[tendered]

Yeah! Everyone else will be a tiger or a lion or a feraligatr and they'll just ask you what you are and you'd be like, "I'm a ghost" and you'd be the only one who is a ghost and it'd be funny, hehe.

[timelymaid]

Well, John might want to be a Haunter because he's John, but I would definitely be one among a few! ...For some reason, lots of people don't care for ghost pokemon.

I don't get why. They're really cute spirits and some of them are really sympathetic, like those Yamask.

[timelymaid]

Right!!! I think they're all adorable and lovely, even if of course some of the ghost pokemon will have less than lovely personalities, because they are people and therefore are varied!

[tendered]

Yeah! A lot of people say a pokémon adopts aspects of a trainer's personality. So all bad ghost pokémon either just have a varied nature, or maybe they just had a really nasty in the past and they were released. [ Momo is a strong subscriber to the All Pokémon Are Good Deep Deep Down theory. ]

[timelymaid]

You know, I hadn't heard that! I think some of mine are a lot different from me, but it's true that my raising them has probably had a big effect on them, you know? Like, the things they like to do and see.

[tendered]

Yeah! Maybe the experiences we give to them and the reactions we have cause them to change as individuals. Maybe your prankster might be a reckless prankster if it wasn't for you honing his skills, or something!

Exactly!! We're basically lusuii - I mean, parents. We're their parents, basically.
