Enjoying Valentine's Day FRIENDLYSTYLE

What: A bunch of friends on a friendly lunch date and movie watching friend date of friendship. Friiiiieeeennndddsssss.
Rating: PG because probably language

[Valentine’s day is just as much about friends as it is about lovers, so it’s no surprise that all those crazy kids from that one wackadoodle universe with the reality-warping video game decided to spend some quality time together. Though a couple of them are a bit banged up from the morning’s attack, that wasn’t going to stop them from enjoying the rest of the day.]

[First, it’s off to a quiet little cafe for a light lunch and maybe some coffee for those of them who drink it. And after that, they all head back to the hotel to cram into Jake’s room for movie time. This right here is certainly a recipe for success, yup.]

Lunchtime

[Yeah it's...lunchtime. Yay! I hope you weren’t expecting something creative here. Because if so, you are now sorely disappointed.]

[ Aradia's ordering a Valentine's special of some sort, because that sounds festive. Some sort of heart-shaped sandwich and pink lemonade, or something of that variety. She's also semi-dressed up, or at least has forgone worn-in jeans and sweaters for a skirt and a blouse, mostly because it's a "special occasion".

Indy the Gengar is her only companion for this outing, and he also got a sandwich. She has no preference on who she sits by, and grabbed the first open chair she saw. She's pretty quick with eating, so she's open to talk to whoever while she sips her lemonade and listens in on gossip. ]

Movie Time

[Isn’t Pay-Per-View nice? Damn straight it is, because that means nobody is forced to rely on John or Jake’s DVD collections. Though it doesn't make the choice any easier now does it?]

[Fortunately, everyone manages to eventually come to an agreement on a poke-fied version of The Princess Bride. And without any major bloodshed at that! It's great when friends don't kill each other.]

[ And Aradia will just nab a spot on the floor rather than trying for what is probably a limited number of chair or bed places, with Indy the Gengar beside her (...until and unless he wanders off, anyway). She won't mind anyone bothering her before, after, or during the movie. ]

[Finding a proper place to sit on the bed or finding a chair was too hard. She's just gonna plop on the ground with whatever stupid snacks she is hoarding. Girl has the hugest fucking sweet tooth.]

I'm pretty sure what will actually happen will be vastly different from what I'm assuming is happening!

Definitely! [ Aradia actually isn't hoarding any snacks, and doesn't seem inclined to start a fight to get any - which...might be a good reason for sitting next to her, come to think of it. She sounds pretty excited, though. ]

That's the fun part of human naming systems for films, I think! "The Princess Bride" gives away absolutely nothing, except that there is presumably a princess and she might be a bride. I like it!

[The best part about these things is the food. At least for someone who can only guess what's happening by dialogue.]

I assume that there is a lot of fighting involved! I hope someone loses their head at least once. [Next time, they should watch a horror movie and watch Terezi laugh maniacally at all the screaming.]

No one has lost their head yet. They're just climbing a cliff right now. [ MAYBE THE TORTURE SCENE LATER WILL PLEASE HER. And Aradia might not might a horror movie. ]

[Good god no, Pay-Per-View is indeed the best thing they've come across purely because the movie would have wound up with.. Nic Cage or blue ladies or some eerie mix of the two somehow. No, Jane is going to make herself comfortable, wrapped in a blanket and with a bag of popcorn in her lap and yesssssssssss Princess Bride!]

[Dave is settling in beside her, wrapped up in his coat with Nicki draped over his shoulders. She tends to refuse to leave his side and he obviously has gotten very attached to her.] Holy shit, they nearly managed to keep this as legit as possible.

[It's hilarious and he snags a few slices of apple from the bowl in his lap to chew on.]

I think it means I need to sit down and watch more of these movies. So far, it's as neat as the original!

[Smiling at the Pokemon, Jane opens her blankets enough to lift a hand and give Nicki a few scratches at the ears. Glancing between her popcorn and the apple slices though, she has half a thought to go for the healthier snack when she's done with the popcorn.

Now that her blankets are more open though, Ricky the Eevee can be seen curled up in her lap, his head poking out the bottom and ignoring both movie and popcorn to chew on a rubber ball.]

The rattata of unusual size was pretty clever.

[Dave laughs and chews on another apple slice.]

Maybe we should make a thing of it. Like livestreaming only with a gear so we can watch it all together even when we're apart. Yeah?

That would be awesome! I love that idea, we should definitely do it. Pick one day out of the week and have movie marathons!

[Dirk doesn't particularly care what they watch- they're hardly going to find the equivalent of his Bro's movies here, after all! He's settled on one of the further back parts of the bed, since he's okay with letting other people sit closer to the screen.]

[Like his teenbro, Dave is a bit further back. He's got really good eyesight so he doesn't need a front position. ...wow that sounds a little weird. He needs to stop talking to himself in his head.

Really needs to stop.

Anyway.

He'd shot down a few jokes directed at him when it came to movie choices. (Time traveler's wife, etc.) Now he's fairly cool with the flick (Whatever it is.) Seeing s he's designated the back row popcorn guardian, he taps the side of the bowl with one finger.] Want any?

[Yeah, Dave, better turn off that pervy inner dialogue before you accidentally say some of it and make things awkward.

Dirk glaces over at the bowl, then shrugs and makes a grab for a handful.]

Sure. [And, handful acquired, he's going to eat them one by one.]

[He raises an eyebrow at Dirk eating them one by one, but doesn't comment on it. From what he knows, his teenbro has had very little first hand experience with some foods. Dave chews on a few kernels of popcorn at a time while watching the movie. It's pretty close to the original, even with Pokemon.]

Thoughts on the flick? [Just wants to make sure you're enjoying yourself. This is in no way being like a big brother to you. Nope. Yes it is.]

[Terezi plops down next to Dirk. It's not because it's Dirk since she actually has no idea, but it's not like she has to sit nearer for obvious reasons.

Plus, she seems more preoccupied with the egg in her lap.] I bet we're watching a movie John picked out! [So it's probably bad.]

I wouldn't be surprised if he liked it, but there was general consensus.

[Dirk will be keeping a cautious eye on her, but he's not about to disrupt her or demand she go away. He's not that rude.]

[Oh! It's the Dirk human.] I'm pretty sure that we'd be watching something completely different if John was the only one in charge.

Also, hello Dirk! I would have said hello earlier but I had no idea who you were until you spoke.

[Jake is excited! He hasn't watched a movie with all of his friends at once before, and they're watching a spectacular romantic comedy on top of it all! It's the best parody he's ever had the pleasure of viewing.

He's sitting down in the middle. A bowl of popcorn is in his lap and ready for sharing, and Robin Williams is being hugged close to his chest. For once, she's actually quiet and still, intent on the movie.]

Jake! Jake! [She shakes his arm.] Explain to me what is happening right now. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be imagining with this dialogue. [Let's just say her colorful imagination far exceeds whatever is actually playing.]

[He can't help grinning at Terezi.]

They're heading off into the Fire Swamp. Buttercup just sank into quick sand and Westley's jumped in to save her.

Does that mean they're gonna die? Is that how this movie ends? Everyone dies! I like the sounds of that. [Terezi. Stop.] Is the swamp on fire? I DON'T HEAR FIRE CRACKLING.

[Like Aradia, Jade is also gonna plop down on the floor! She prefers sitting on the floor anyway. Bec is curled up at her side, occasionally wagging his tail.]
