Early in the morning, Ren had left to visit the Pokémon center in the city. He had had an important task to do - something he should have done ages ago. He had left a note saying that he might not be coming back in a while (in case there would be jail time for his actions)... only to come back later during the day. It seems like the note he had left had been for nothing.

He was carrying another note that had information on where and what he would be doing for community service time. That single note was the cause of Ren being grumpier than he had been in the longest time. Picking up trash. In winter. The damned Johto Police and their silly punishments.

Then again, it was probably better than actually being in jail. It also felt like he's been lied to the whole time he had been there. It hadn't been that difficult to leave the Team. It was all just to scare them, wasn't it?

Sighing, he sat down on a chair and tossed the piece of paper onto the table next to him. He might as well take the rest of the day easy since it was the last chance in a while.

[Ren turned too look at Lightning as he heard her voice. Most likely she's read the note, then... though it doesn't really matter at this point, does it?]

Yeah. Things went surprisingly well.

[He gets a nod. At least she didn't have to fish him out of more trouble, unlike Sasuke.]

Good to know. [A glance at the paper on the table now, then at him.] How much trouble are you in?

[saxsongs]

[Ren shrugs.]

If you count surrendering to the police force and getting punished as trouble, then I'm in quite a pinch.

[He nods over to the note on the table.] They didn't even put me in jail... just community service, it would seem.

[soggypastry]

[He gets a soft 'hmm'; she counts a lot of things as trouble these days, really. Police force included.

Still, she reaches for the note and gives it a quick read. Community service--cleaning the beach. Could be worse.]

Should probably invest in good gloves for this. Gets icy in the mornings sometimes.

[saxsongs]

Probably, yeah. [He'll sigh.] If I'd known it was something like this, I would have probably waited for a while...

[Though waiting might have been a bad idea too, so he'll shake his head.]

Then again, with this I have no connections to the team... except two friends who are still there.

Better to get things like this over with, Ren. [Putting the note back on the table, and then glancing at him. Two who are still there--oh, for the love of...]

Are these friends of yours the type to need rescues, too?

[saxsongs]

No. Both of them know when to stay quiet and act good. I'm sure they'll also be able to find their own way out without causing a scene.

[soggypastry]

Good. Means we shouldn't have any more trouble. [From them, anyway. Sasuke's friends are a whole other story. Still, she puts the note back on the table and turns to the kitchen. Plenty of other things to do around here.]

You starting today or tomorrow?

[saxsongs]

[He almost commented that two non-Rockets would probably be more troublesome... but he'd deal with them somehow himself, so there wasn't a need to say that. As long as Natsuki and Syo were focused on Haruka, they might stay out of trouble.]

Then you should head out now. Buy good winter clothes and scope out where you'll be working. Make use of your time instead of sitting around here until dinner.

[She's only in here for coffee, after all. It's back to work afterwards.]

I guess I could do that. [It's not like he had anything better to do- other than remain grumpy. A little shopping might do some good.]

There's nothing for me to do here, then?

[soggypastry]

Not unless you want to get up on the roof to start putting shingles back into the empty spots or sand down every step from the beach to the back door. [Said from the kitchen as she looks for the instant stuff. She just bought some...where'd it go...] There isn't much left to do that won't take a while.

[saxsongs]

[Yeah... he'd rather go shopping than do that. So he'll get up and stretch a little.]

Then I'll go shopping. Might as well get some groceries on the way, if there's anything we need?

[Smart man, Ren. She'd put you to work otherwise.]

Coffee, if you can find any. We keep running out.

[Which isn't a surprise, but it is a bit annoying.]

Alright. I'll see what I can do. [He didn't drink that much coffee, but there had been mornings when he had needed it more than anything... so it was good to have it around.]
