Summary: Being in hiding doesn't stop Sasuke from going out to try and get his third badge, but on the way back home he's interrupted by an unwelcome surprise visitor.

That was an easier battle than he had expected; although Getsukage was still weak from the bout, but Hiruzen and Senshi still did amazingly well. Obito, Evan, and Tenten had insisted on joining him, and it was hard to turn them away -- especially when Lightning thought that the additional company and protection was a good idea. Sasuke couldn't win against the argument, so all three of them ended up spectating for Sasuke's battle.

Still, something felt unsettling as he began to walk back, and in an attempt to not think about it he kept his eyes focused on the badge in his left palm, walking back towards the house alongside the others and no longer paying close attention to his surroundings. Unfortunately, that lack of attention paid was going to bet the start of a rather untimely event.

The known Rocket. Seriously Tenten, do you not get this place at all? You would have gotten people hurt, or possibly yourself! Kami, I spotted you, but so did he! I don't know if it was before or after, but people can be crippled Tenten. I don't want that to happen to you because you overestimated yourself and underestimated your opponent.

I was preparing to retreat until those civilians charged in. Do you think I carry more than one Flying type around for no reason?! You don't know if he saw me or not. It's not like I was moving in alone, either.

[She scowled and leaned down, pressing her face almost flush to the back of Feng's neck.]

Once you spot Sasuke, head that way, Feng, [she orders, to which the razorbird gives a soft crow of acknowledgement.]

Civilians here do not see shinobi. They see kids. They will NOT back off while you're not backed off. If you'd actually gone with the retreat they might have actually GONE.

We were backing off, then they charged in. I saw a chance and took it. If we don't do something to show we're not such easy prey, we're gonna be on the run the whole time. I don't know about you, but I don't want to spend the rest of however long I'm here running from some red-haired freak with a grudge.

I HAVEN'T NEEDED TO. I've been careful. I've avoided getting myself targeted even with knowing a LOT of people and openly communicating with some that seem to have a bad reputation. I've been safe, and I know what the hell I'm doing. I've been in war. I know what a retreat is instead of running.

I know bravado is stupid and reckless and ill thought out. I also know that if you don't know your enemy, attacking blindly is asking bad things to happen to you.

I already admitted I made a mistake with Tsunade-sa-- Tsunade, okay?!

[Feng let out a crow of protest, turning his head back just enough to give Tenten a baleful stare -- if she kept gripping like that, it was harder to fly.]

You're doing the same thing these civilians do, assuming I don't know how to handle myself. Maybe I haven't been in war, but I've had to fight when our village was attacked after the Chuunin exams. I've been on missions. I'm not some kid fresh from the Academy.

How many people have you killed?

If you can't beat me with hand to hand, then you must concede that Bowser would have been beyond you. If you can, I won't take back anything I've said, but I'll concede that you're more skilled than you act.

Barehanded since you can't count on having a weapon here. We need to talk about options for that by the way, all three of us.

[Still a little suspicious, but she nods.]

I've heard that blunted weapons are okay, as long as they don't look like weapons.

Maybe a chain? I've seen people do pretty spiffy things with chains before.

Feng likes to eat chains.

[Disgruntled, but she shifts her weight to keep her balance and leans toward him.]

In my backpack, there's two sets of bolo. Ropes with weights on either end. I can fashion more've those if you want.

Bolo are not really my idea of a good time though.

They're not all that fun, but they're useful and non-lethal. Even work on Pokémon, if you get a rope strong enough.

Still interested in a chain made in a similar way though. Less likely to get set on fire, you know?

If you can find one and don't have a razorbird who munches your spare metal? You're welcome to it. Don't discount a bo-staff, either.
