Who: Mondo Oowada ([personal profile] diamondo), Kiyotaka Ishimaru ([personal profile] ardent), and Makoto Naegi ([personal profile] superordinary)
Where: Goldenrod City
When: 5/6
Summary: Naegi finally makes it to Goldenrod and reunites with Ishimaru and Mondo. Discussions follow.
Rating: PG-13 for Mondo's foul mouth
Log:
[It was hard to believe they'd been here for two weeks. It was equally hard to believe that Naegi had walked for two weeks just to meet up with them. Mondo still wasn't able to accept the latter, but he was more than happy to meet up with Naegi again. As much as he hated to admit it, he'd kind of missed his classmates - even if he didn't really know them all that well. Naegi was here now though, and Mondo was eager to get going already. They're meeting up with Naegi for lunch, and probably to discuss what's been going on here in Johto and back at Hope's Peak, but Mondo can't say he really cares all that much. It'll just be good to see his classmate again.]

C'mon, hurry up already!

[He's already by the door and clearly impatient as hell, but he's still waiting for Ishimaru by the door. There's no sense in leaving without Ishimaru, and it's not like Mondo wants to be early for their meeting and look over-eager for it or anything. Totally not cool. ...Then again, he is showing up with Ishimaru, which means if they're not early they're doing something wrong, so...]

Eh? I don't understand what you're talking about, Ishimaru-kun... [ You lost him there, Ishimaru. ]

There has to be something behind all of this. I mean... the three of us are all from Hope's Peak. I don't think it's just a coincidence. Someone or something must've deliberately picked us up from the school.
ardent: (And turning all against one)

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Ugh, you guys. Remind him to sit you both down for a study session later so he can get you up to speed on these things! It all makes sense, he promises.

...for now, however, there are more pressing matters at hand.]

I don't think you're wrong - but even if there is something like that in this world, I don't think that we would be able to get anywhere near it without large amounts of risk! I've spoken to at least three aliens, an American from a city that doesn't exist, someone else from a version of London that I don't think exists either, and a very deaf man from the 1980s! Unless they're all very convincing liars, we're looking at something that's likely more powerful or complex than we'll know how to handle properly!
ardent: (A mob jumps to their feet)

[...WOW, EXCUSE YOU?]

As though their lives aren't my priority right now?! You know that giving up is the last thing I would suggest, especially given the situation our classmates are in!

[Nice job breaking it, Mondo; you're lucky he has more willpower than some, otherwise he would have hit you for that. As it stands, that's still out of the question.]

What I'm suggesting is not being reckless in going about saving them! If we don't do it properly, we might end up getting sent back there ourselves, and then what?!

[personal profile] superordinary 2013-05-07 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ Huh, suddenly one thing makes sense -- namely why no one else seems to ever have heard of Hope's Peak. If for some reason the school doesn't exist in other versions of the Earth, then that explains a lot. Because if it did, then everyone and their mom would recognize them because there's no way that broadcast wouldn't cause a huge reaction all over the world. ]

Ishimaru-kun makes a good point. We have to find a way to save the others, but also we need to be careful. I certainly don't want to end up getting sent back!

[ He raises his voice just a bit toward the end. If he goes back, he'll either end up in the garbage heap again (and possibly starve to death there) or Monobear will make sure he gets executed properly. ]

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
[Upset him? Maybe just a smidge.

But for the time being, he settles fairly easily, if for no better reason than at least someone's acknowledged his point without acting as though they're being forced to, and he's actually able to move on reasonably quickly now that he's been placated.]

There isn't much that we can do outside of that in the first place, is there? This is what I meant when I said these things would take time and effort; even Naegi-kun has only been here for a month! We can't expect to have everything handed to us - it's going to take dedication!

[personal profile] superordinary 2013-05-07 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
I agree with Ishimaru-kun. I'm not sure how we're going to do this, but with time and effort I'm sure we'll be able to figure something out. If there's a will, there's a way, right? Whatever happens, we mustn't give up.

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
...I know, aniki. But I think they may be safe for now. Right?

[He glances at Naegi while he speaks, trying to get his thoughts in order.]

You were here for two weeks longer than we were, but surely we would have noticed if you were gone that long! I...don't know what that's all about, but time seems to work strangely here anyway, given the people here from the future and the 1980s...
superordinary: (pic#6036104)

[personal profile] superordinary 2013-05-07 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
It does seem to work strangely... Um, what exactly were you doing before you showed up here?
ardent: (Slowly out of line)

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[Ishimaru's posture tightens again at that, though this time it isn't due to something he'd rather not tell Naegi himself; he's never been good with social things, but logical things? Logical things he can usually put together. His logic operates a bit differently from most people's logic sometimes, surely, but that doesn't change the fact that this is multiple-choice, not free-answer, and he's down to two options.

But even if he's from a different point in time - just say that he is, even though that's silly, isn't it - even so, surely, surely everything's okay. Right? Naegi seems all right. And he would have said something if he weren't all right. Wouldn't he?]

Right, of course, that's what was happening; we just got our motives -

[Surely everything is okay.]

- and it's been a few hours since then but last I checked, everyone was still all right -

[Right?]

- and I'm fairly sure it's almost ten o'clock, it's getting late.

[...god, let everything be okay.]

Why are you asking, Naegi-kun?
superordinary: (Default)

[personal profile] superordinary 2013-05-07 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Um... [ Man, how to explain these time shenanigans. ] Because that's not what happened before I woke up here... For me, we all got our second motive weeks before I ended up here. So I'm... ahead of you guys.

ardent: (And as you step back into line)

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
[That's exactly why he's freaking out, Mondo. It might not be all of them.

He forces himself to relax a bit; the questions aren't pleasant, but they have to be asked.]

And how...how many more trials have there been in that time?
superordinary: (Default)

[personal profile] superordinary 2013-05-07 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[ He hates this question, he really does. He hates answering them, too, and the look on his face makes this obvious. ]

Four. So in total... we've had five trials...
ardent: (Take him out today)

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, any attempts at remaining composed have now gone straight out the window.]

Five trials...but that leaves so few of us left, it can't possibly have gotten that far...!

[There are so many possibilities here that he can't even begin to fathom it; he takes the first one that comes to mind, the first coherent string of anything that comes out of the aether and he just sort of forces it out there.]

And you?! To your knowledge, are you all right, Naegi-kun? Nothing's happened to you - you're still alive?
superordinary: (pic#5882426)

[personal profile] superordinary 2013-05-07 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Does this kid look like he's kidding, Mondo? ]

I'm all right, Ishimaru-kun. I haven't died. [ ...yet, that is. ]
ardent: (Now dance fucker dance)

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Ishimaru glances over at Mondo for a moment during that pause; there's no way the thought hasn't occurred to him, is there? His brother does tend to be a little on the dense side, but he has to have realized by now...

And then he's speaking again, and suddenly he's discussing it as it pertains to Naegi only, and...god.

All right. All right. He won't ask for now. He knows he'll have to ask eventually, but not. Not now. He still isn't sure he wants to know; if he makes the wrong choice, there isn't any taking it back.]

Y-You're still alive, Naegi-kun, and I'm...I'm relieved to know that, it's very important to me to know that, and when it comes to the rest...!

[...oh. Oh. He'd actually been doing a valiant job at not crying up until this point, but then his breathing catches unexpectedly and it hitches hard in his chest and everything kind of aches a bit, and then something behind his ribs feels like it cracks a little and there are the tears, and he's not even bothering to hide them or anything. Completely unashamed, because why shouldn't he be? It's...strangely good to let it out. Always has been.]

We'll find a way to bring them here with us...I promise you...!!

[personal profile] superordinary 2013-05-07 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Naegi can't read Mondo's mind but he doesn't need when Mondo's expression makes it clear what he wants to ask him. The pit of his stomach clenches uncomfortably as he mentally braces himself for the question, thinking of different ways to answer it. He can't think of any good way to deliver the bad news and tell Mondo the truth, that he's going to die and that he is going to die as someone who killed another person. When the question doesn't hit him, he feels immensively relieved. That's one less thing to worry about, at least for the time being.

He doesn't feel surprised in the slightest when the tears start trickling down Ishimaru's face. Really, Naegi half expected him to start crying much sooner because crying is sort of Ishimaru's thing by now. It's not a pretty sight, but this also isn't a pretty conversational topic and Naegi doesn't judge him one bit. ]

We will... I swear. We'll find a way to save everyone. If this place can take us from the past or the future, then we can save those who have died...! We can save Kuwata-kun and Enoshima-san and Maizono-san...

[ His voice is a little shaky, but full of resolve and hope. Mondo and Ishimaru have already proved this to be possible just by being here. They can do this. They have to find a way to make this happen. ]
ardent: (Default)

[personal profile] ardent 2013-05-07 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[He jerks forward a bit at that hand at his shoulder, clearly not expecting it; dear god, aniki, you're going to give everyone at the table whiplash with those mood swings. However, while whether it's fortunate or not for Naegi and anyone else that may be eavesdropping (or just wondering what the hell the overemotional teens in the corner across the room are freaking out about) has yet to be seen, Ishimaru has always been fairly easily subdued when it comes to the waterworks if it's over something like this, and this seems to have startled him out of crying for the time being.]

A-Ah, of course...!

[He...rather obviously has no idea what's going on anymore, but dammit he is surrounded by shounen spirit for some odd reason and that is a good thing. Just. Let him take a swipe at his face with the heel of his hand because it's easier to do this if he can actually, y'know, see.]

We'll...we'll all work through this; Naegi-kun is right - this means that even -

[Whoa, whoa, breath threatening to catch again hang on - ...okay. Okay, no, he has this. Tears are gone, everyone, false alarm.]

...even those who have gone before us - we have a responsibility to them as well! We can give them a second chance!
