[OPEN TO ROCKETS] Run, run, as fast as you can!
Who: Vanellope von Schweetz and ANYONE AT THE BASE.
Where: Goldenrod City - Rocket base.
When: May 21st - after the day's newbie training.
Summary: Vanellope's got a real bed. Time to check out the rest of her new digs.
Rating: A for Adorable? I will put something real here if anything comes up.
Log:
[There's a cute little girl running around the Rocket base. ...Why in the world is there a cute little girl running around the Rocket base.
Well, for one: she's bored. Two: nobody's tried to kick her out, yet. And three: how the heck did she get here, this wasn't Diet Cola Mountain at all. It wasn't anywhere in Sugar Rush Speedway, which would be impossible. It's time to find the station gate around here and try to go back through it, even if she wouldn't necessarily mind staying a while, what with having something more comfortable than a candy wrapper to curl up in at night.
Unfortunately, all her zipping around just keeps getting her lost. Even the Zubat following her around doesn't really seem to know where they are.]

Somehow, though, she decides this view isn't quite as good as it could be, and it isn't long before she's squirreling her way up onto Ralph's shoulders and pointing every which way.]
That water is so blue, it looks like Gatorade! What's that building with the flashing sign thing? Man, it's really warm here--Oh, oh! That looks like a forest! Are those supposed to be trees? Does this place have a racetrack? Is that it over there?
[action]
Pretty fancy for a busted game, huh? And this is just the part we can see. Wait'll you see rain.
[action]
[Happily, she shifts to use Ralph's head as an armrest.]
How big is this place? Is everywhere as cool as this?
[action]
Beats me, kid. I haven't ever left town. I got two jobs and some pokemon to take care of. Traveling isn't exactly at the top of my to-do list.
[That's totally not an excuse because he might actually be the tiniest bit afraid of the idea of such a huge game shh.]
[action]
[She leans over so they can see each other's face, which is probably more dangerous than necessary, but she's reasonably sure that if she toppled over, Ralph would catch her.]
Hey wait, so... You're gettin' all chummy with this Alice chick, you got two jobs, and I didn't see you in training. You been here a while?
[action]
A few months, yeah. I've talked to people who've been here a few years if that tells you anything. How long was I in your game?
[action]
Weird... Like, double-weird. [After all, it wasn't just the HEY, I JUST SAW YOU factor--that, she guessed, might have been the same thing as everything else that was Twilight Zone-y today. Coding getting turned into eggs. She hadn't heard of any new games like this in the arcade, but, uh, since nobody really talked to her except to tell her to scram? Not too surprising. Ralph not having a clue was a bit more strange, but he wasn't exactly a social butterfly, either.] Games changed a bunch since Sugar Rush came out.
'round half a day so far. Er, night, I guess.
[action]
[Besides a lot of people.]
[He glances up as a flock of Pidgey flies overhead to settle on some nearby powerlines.]
So, what'r you gonna do now?
[action]
[Dang police. >C]
I dunno. [After a deep breath, Vanellope hops down and turns to face Ralph.] Same thing as you? Except less boring. [She kicks at the ground, then goes to lean over the roof's ledge.] They said I need to finish the training before they let me do anything, though.
[action]
[Whoever they were, they probably weren't very pleasent.]
Training's not so tough. They'll probably want you to be a pick pocket or somethin'.
[Though Team Rocket seemed to keep losing, they seemed to know how to use what they had. Little girls could get away with a lot and Ralph had seen the way people looked at him. It was like they knew he used to be able to punch through walls.]
If you decide not to, whatever you do, don't take up laundry duty.
[action]
[Pick pocket, huh? That didn't seem too difficult. During her years of scrounging, there had been many times she'd "borrowed" items from the other characters in Sugar Rush. Could be worse.]
Why, what's laundry duty, and how is it worse than makin' the ground all slippery?
[action]
[ 8[ Yeesh what kind of game WAS Sugar Rush?]
[However, at Vanellope's question, Ralph spaces out. Just a bit. Remembering those rotating washer drums and the noise they made. Around and around and around all day long. Sort. Fold. Sort. Fold. Ralph's big meat hands involentarily raise and start going through the motions. He manages to catch himself and shake his head.]
Whooh. It does stuff to ya. Just trust me on this, alright?
[action]
[SHE'LL DRAW A PICTURE LATER OR SOMETHING.]
What the... [omg ralph seriously cut it out she's getting the creeps.] O-kay? No laundry duty. What other stuff do they got around here to do? Anything with a go-kart?
[action]
I haven't really looked. Doesn't mean there couldn't be. Maybe there's pokemon racing or something. I'll ask around at my other job tomorrow.
[action]
[Vanellope crouches down, wrapping her arms around her legs and watching someone far below chase after their dog.]
Hey, Ralph? You like it here, right? I mean, even though they made you a bad guy again, it's okay?
[action]
[He has to think about that one. He was excited to have his new job outside the Rocket base, but the shiny had worn off now and the doldrums of thankless food service had started to seep in.]
It's not so lonely here. Nobody knows I'm a Badguy. It's kinda like a reset. A secret reset.
[action]
Secret resets are good! Well, except for that not-knowing-me thing, but you know me now, and that's the only really bad thing so far.
[action]
[U C WAT HE DID THAR?]
[action]
Well, Ronald... [BT] I'm a racer! The best racer Sugar Rush's got, only they never let me prove it.
[Her frown comes back for real, at that.]
They say I'm gunna ruin the game if I race. But thanks to you, I get to show them that they're being the biggest morons in the history of the arcade.
[action]
That so, Veronica? You seem t'know what you're talking about. Why would they think you'd ruin anything? You got a history of roadrage?
[No, Ralph, that's you.]
[action]
[Vanellope places her hands on her hips and raises an eyebrow. She's having similar thoughts.]
Nah, it's just, uhmn... Some things just kinda screw up when I'm around.
[Like her and the things she was holding. You know, stuff like that. No biggie.]
It's not like I do it on purpose, or anything.
[action]
[Thank Nintendo that's over. Ralph stops tensing his shoulders and lets his arms hang at his sides.]
Welp, this is Outside. There's lots of it...have you ever had a pizza?
[action]
I've had a gummi pizza? Is it like the same thing?
[action]
[Ralph pulls his poke'gear out of his pocket and flips it open.]
Need a crash course in this thing?
[action]
[He's bringing her food! And showing her new things! Those were friend-type things to do. She's marking today down as a 'win'.]
Uhmn... [She digs into her hoodie's pocket, and pulls out her own 'gear.] Crash course sounds fun. What the heck is it supposed to be, anyway? Some kinda weird controller?
