it's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake
Who: Mondo Oowada and you!
Where: Goldenrod City, Team Rocket base
When: 6/9
Summary: It's Mondo's birthday! Guess what that means? Cake for everyonebecause he's bored and has nothing better to do with his life!
Rating: PG-13, since Mondo loves cussing.
Log:
A;
[If you're in the Team Rocket base today, chances are you've heard some sort of commotion coming from the direction of the kitchen. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to investigate the sounds! Should you choose to investigate, you'll find one (1) obnoxiously loud teenager and his equally obnoxious and loud Pokémon attempting to bake.]
Ryder! Get the fuck outta the icing! Keaton! If I see you near that batter one more time I'm gonna yank out your feathers! Get off the counter, Pierce! Fuck, why did I let you guys outta your balls!?
[The Scrafty, Murkrow, and Riolu are all causing havoc in the kitchen, and Mondo seems to have lost control over them. Whoops. Perhaps you'd better interfere and help him bake that damn cake.]
B;
[Or perhaps it's later in the day and you've stopped by the cafeteria. If you have, congratulations, there's free cake! Mondo's Pokémon have calmed down some and are now eating their cake contentedly while Mondo is looking far too proud of himself for actually managing to pull off three cakes. There's a chocolate one, iced with chocolate icing, a yellow one with chocolate icing, and a white cake with vanilla icing. You'll have to deal with the obnoxious teenager, but enjoy the free cake!]

Okay, look, what does he do with this]
Some sort of special occasion...?
[why
why this
why any of this
why so much cake]
no subject
[You'd think they'd be bouncing off the walls... maybe they tired themselves out earlier? ~It is a mystery~]
So! What kind do you want? White, yellow, or chocolate?
no subject
As for the cake, for the time being he seems content to just kind of look at all of it like he's not sure it's going to poison him, though he does join Mondo at the table and tries to...ignore the fact that apparently the Pokémon are getting cake, what even.]
White is fine - but why didn't you let me know beforehand?
no subject
Ah, I didn't think it was that big of a deal. The only reason I bothered making cakes was 'cause I was bored.
[Training does get boring after awhile...
Anyway, he'll just hand Ishimaru a nice thick slice of that white cake!]
Enjoy!
no subject
And Mondo's words are a suitable distraction before long anyway.]
Of course it is - I would have done something, had I known!
no subject
[Right, because baking cakes for all of Team Rocket isn't making a big deal out of it...]
no subject
[Whoa, hivemind.]
no subject
Oh c'mon, this isn't that big of a deal! It's just cake!
no subject
[Said as though that correction was absolutely vital.
...look, just let him go back to kind of picking at it for a moment; he's not really eating it so much as he is messing with it while he thinks, but he'll get to it eventually. For the time being he's not too sure what to do with himself, good lord.]
Well, it's good to spend time with you today anyway, then, whether I knew in advance or not.
no subject
Well, yeah, it's not like I would've avoided you today or anything! I like spending time with you! I'd be happy to spend my birthday with you, aniki!
no subject
[HOW DO I FRIENDS.]
Y-Yes, well! Of course - happy birthday, then, and hopefully the coming year will be a good one for you!
no subject
[Just ignore the fact that they die back home and they have no idea how long they'll be here!]
And of course; that's what you do on your birthday, you spend time with the people you care about most!
no subject
[He doesn't sound upset or bothered when he talks about it, if a little subdued; clearly, it's more of a pleasant thing than anything else.]
no subject
Yeah, I usually spent mine with the gang. And Daiya, before he... y'know.
[But he shrugs that off pretty easily, jabbing a fork in the direction of Ishimaru's cake.]
C'mon, you aren't gonna eat that after all the trouble I went through to make it?
[He's clearly teasing though.]
no subject
...huh. This is...surprisingly not toxic and actually pretty decent, for something so laden with sugar by default. Weird.]
...Since when do you bake, anyway? It's not something I would have expected.
no subject
Huh, really? I'm pretty good at it, if I do say so myself! Daiya and I were pretty much on our own for awhile, so we picked up some things.
[Baking is clearly one of the most important things to learn when you're left to your own devices by inattentive parents!]
no subject
I see...I guess that makes sense!
[Well, at least he's doing equal parts playing with and eating the cake now, because this is...actually pretty good, all right.]
He sounds like an interesting person. Your brother, I mean.
[From all he's heard, anyway; admittedly, it hasn't been too much, but it's obvious Mondo is fond at least.]
no subject
[...]
But I'm better, of course!
[Sh-shut up and eat your damn cake.]
no subject
If you say so, aniki.
[He will eat his damn cake, good lord, what got into you.]
no subject
[This is just how he is, don't mind him...]
Anyway, you uh... enjoying your cake there...?
no subject
Yes, of course!
[...]
Is there something on your mind?
no subject
no subject
[Granted, his tone implies that he doesn't, but he's trying anyway.]
Well, it's like I've said before - you can talk to me about anything you want!
[...was that appropriate, he isn't sure. Either way, just...cake, okay. That is something to focus on.]
no subject
[He laughs it off like it isn't a big deal.]
no subject
[He still fairly clearly has no idea what's going on, but Mondo seems relaxed about the issue at hand and so he tries to make himself follow suit; surely he'd tell him if something was really a reason for concern, right?
Of course he would - they're brothers, they really can tell each other anything.]
...You know I'm going to insist on getting you something, don't you?
