beach episode!

Who: Mayuri and You!
Where: Cherrygrove City, at the beach area
When: Wednesday Afternoon
Summary: It's summer time and warm out, so why not take advantage of it?
Rating: G
Log:

After spending a few days in the woods, mostly alone and with no good way to cool off outside of seeking shade in the outdoors, Mayuri decided to treat herself and her Pokemon to a little side trip for the day. She purchased a swimsuit for herself and beach towels as well as some food and water for a little picnic to go along with this. So by one of the more sandy areas of the beachline she set out her towel, the backpack and food while her Pokemon were let out for some fresh air and beach to enjoy.

First her Togepi sat by the shore, chasing after the waves. Her Shinx was curled up on the towel taking a nap. And finally her Hoppip floated around where Mayuri was, building a sandcastle in front of her towel and wearing only a bikini and her lady class hat. Unfortunately it was too cool now to go swimming proper but that doesn't mean she couldn't enjoy the rest of what the beach had to offer. She didn't expect any visitors to drop by, but that doesn't mean she won't welcome them or even offer some food. Don't worry, there's plenty to go around.

Minoriko had been in Cherrygrove for the past several days, and spent most of the time working at the Pokémon Center helping treat pokémon. She'd been up since before dawn, and had just gotten out of work. Rather than retreat to the inn for some rest, she decided to give her pokémon a treat by bringing them down to the beach for some swimming and general relaxation. It wasn't like she could keep them out while working, and they deserved time out of their pokéballs.

Her Eevee and Chikorita rushed down to the water's edge to play in the shallows. Minoriko herself wasn't going to swim, as she didn't have the proper attire for it, but there was no reason her pokémon couldn't. Her Tropius walked alongside her, before continuing on down to the water slowly. Noticing the girl building a sandcastle, Minoriko walked towards her.

"Good afternoon. It's a wonderful day, isn't it?"

Minoriko had to stare at the sandcastle for a moment. She'd never really seen one before, but she supposed she could see the appeal in it for those younger than her. Accepting the other girl's invitation, she knelt down on the other side of her creation. She wasn't really worried about getting sand in her clothes. "I haven't gotten a chance to come down here, so I wouldn't know what the water is like."

Her Chikorita tried to shy away and hide behind one of the Tropius's legs like the timid little critter it was, but he didn't exactly blend in. It didn't help that the larger pokémon kept moving and nudging him towards the little egg pokémon.

"Indeed. I haven't been here long. I decided that stopping here to work for a few days would be most helpful. You're Mayushii?" She watched curiously as the other girl continued to build her sandcastle, occasionally looking back to see what her team was up to.

"I'm Minoriko. Minoriko Aki."

"I see. It's a pleasure to meet you. Please, call me Minoriko." She reached out to shake the other girl's hand. Rather than be referred to by her last name, Minoriko preferred her first name, so as to avoid confusion with her nearly identical older sister.

"I am indeed travelling in that direction. My current destination is Goldenrod City to visit the Breeding Center, but I must pass through Violet en route."

"If you're going to stay in one place for a week or so, there's no reason you shouldn't do something productive with your time. I take it you're aiming to collect all of them?" Minoriko doesn't really see all the appeal in battling to prove your worth, but to each their own. "As I understand it, I do not require them to use HMs, I think they're called."

She watched the little grass pokémon cling on to Mayuri's head. It was a rather adorable sight. Hopefully it didn't end up getting blown away.

Minoriko looked puzzled at this. She was unaware of any 'game'. "...game?"

"From what I've been told, Breeders don't require a badge to use an HM. I haven't gotten to test that out yet, however. As my source was from a fellow Breeder, I'm inclined to believe him for now."

"I'm afraid I don't know what a video game is. Would you care to explain?" Minoriko may be a goddess, but that certainly doesn't mean she's all-knowing. She doesn't particularly like the sound of this, though.

"Correct. Rather than mindlessly battle through each route and city, I am apparently tasked with breeding and raising pokémon." A choice she certainly preferred. She didn't care for violence. That's the reason she didn't participate in the 'religion war' back home.
autumnharvest: (Huh?)

[personal profile] autumnharvest 2013-06-28 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't. There isn't a whole lot of technology in my world." And what technology there was, Minoriko didn't really have much use for. She spent nearly all of her time outside.

"I'm not sure. It seems to be a process of trial and error to produce the most efficient offspring possible. I suppose only time will tell." Well, she hoped it went fairly well. One of the people she'd talked to had mentioned that sometimes pokémon would breed uncontrollably without being prompted.
autumnharvest: (Oh?)

Okay, so that explanation didn't help a whole lot. Minoriko still looks oh so confused. She heard of a TV, and those things in the Pokémon Centers were computers, but what was a PSP? She's not going to pursue it, though.

"To be honest, I'm not sure. It would be best to keep an eye on them as much as possible, though. Just in case." She'd been doing so for now, as she didn't want to be burdened by a batch of eggs while on the road. Perhaps once she was staying in a town or city for an extended period she would see what happened, though.

"A picnic? That's actually a splendid idea. I should of thought to do so for my own. I don't wish to impose upon you, though." Minoriko looked back over her shoulder to see what her team was up to, just to make sure they were all behaving. They actually seemed to be having quite a bit of fun, splashing around in the shallow water. Her Chikorita even seemed to be having a bit more fun, and was waving its leaf around for the little Togepi.

"I'm still getting used to the diets and eating habits of my own team, so I unfortunately can't give you advice on the matter." Thankfully none of them were super picky or anything, but each one ate different amounts, at different times, and different things, as well. It was going to take some time to get it all memorized.

Hearing her Chikorita let out a squeak as Mayuri's Togepi grabbed hold of its leaf, Minoriko looked back and sighed. "Kinomi, please separate them!" As requested, her Tropius began trying to nudge the two smaller pokémon apart.

After watching Mayuri for a moment, Minoriko looked back to her team and whistled for them to come back, which they all promptly did. Her Chikorita hopped into and curled up on her lap, while her Tropius and Eevee sat on either side of her.

Stroking the Chikorita's head, she smiled and looked back to the other girl. "I suppose I should introduce mine. The Chikorita is Haru, the Eevee is Asami, and the Tropius is Kinomi."

"Yours have cute names as well." Minoriko watched as the other girl set out food for all the pokémon. "It seems you really were prepared. Were you expecting company?" With just her and those three smaller pokémon, it seemed like an awful lot of food. Not that she's going to complain about the other girl's generosity.

Her own pokémon waited patiently until everyone was served. Minoriko perks up a little at the mention of an egg. "Oh? Do you know what it's going to hatch into? I adopted Haru and Asami's eggs through the Breeding Center."
autumnharvest: (Huh?)

[personal profile] autumnharvest 2013-06-30 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see. That's certainly better than letting it go to waste." Yes, waste not, want not. Even if food was spoiled, Minoriko could probably find use for it as compost or something. Her pokémon go at their food with gusto, while she takes her time with it.

"Interesting. These creatures really do come in all shapes and sizes, don't they?" It really was quite amazing in her mind, how all these creatures were so different. Not just in appearance, but in abilities too. Their methods of evolution also piqued her interest. There wasn't anything like it in Gensokyo.
autumnharvest: (Oh?)

[personal profile] autumnharvest 2013-07-01 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
"What is an Upa, if you don't mind me asking?" Things most people believed only existed in fantasy or old wive's tales were quite normal in Minoriko's world. There were less than there used to be due to the lack of belief, yet they were safe and preserved within Gensokyo.

Minoriko looks at the little thing curiously. It bore at least some resemblance to species she knew of. "Interesting. Do you collect them? I suppose it is important to have some sort of hobby."
autumnharvest: (Huh?)

[personal profile] autumnharvest 2013-07-02 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose there are some similarities." It was true, they weren't the same, obviously, but there were some faint similarities between the two. She couldn't help but think about her own team. There was some resemblance to creatures in her world too. It was pretty interesting, now that she considered it.

"So where are you staying? I've been switching between camping on the outskirts of the city, or offering to do work in exchange for renting a room for a night."

[personal profile] autumnharvest 2013-07-02 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Minoriko on the other hand was quite comfortable in either. Sleeping out under the stars was natural for her. Well, except when it started getting cold out. Then she generally stayed inside. At Mayuri's suggestion she smiles and nods. "That would be wonderful. It's always nice to have company. When did you plan on leaving Cherrygrove?"

"That sounds fine by me. I wish to remain around here for at least another day or two to train my partners a little." She could do so on the road too, but wouldn't it help if they were stronger than the wild pokémon that lay ahead? She certainly had no desire to see her companions injured.
autumnharvest: (Huh?)

[personal profile] autumnharvest 2013-07-03 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Minoriko nods. "Correct, I'm not one for violence. I'll resort to different methods of training, such as obstacle courses, lifting and such."
autumnharvest: (Smiling)

"It seemed much better for their well being, as well as my own conscience. They haven't seemed to offer any objections to the idea."
