[Closed] Meet Up

Summary: Steve meets up with Carol in Cherrygrove to travel together.

Steve is sitting comfortably at the entrance of Cherrygrove, watching his Bravairy, Sam, and Espeon, Amber, play close by while his Lucario, Grace, and Absol, Margret, are napping next to him. He's been here for a few hours now and didn't figure to keep his Pokemon in their balls when they could enjoy some time out and about.

Yep, that is most definitely the most patriotic bird Carol has ever seen.

Carol approchs from Route 29, her Taillow, Helen, and Pidgey, Boston, playfully chasing each other in her general proximity. Both notice Sam ar relitily the same time and race over to him because omg that's a Braviary! So cool! Can we play with you?!

"Helen, Boston, get back here!" Carol runs after them catching Steve's eye and waving at him while also trying to stop her two pokémon from annoying Sam to death.

"Sorry about them. I just let them out of their balls so they're a little hyper."

Sam looks startled, but swoops around the two tiny birds, seemingly mostly unbothered by them, especially after their trainer talks to his in a nice fashion. Amber realizes playtime with her is over and sprints over to Margret to cuddle with her.

"It's fine, Carol. Sam is a gentle giant and if he gets annoyed, he'll say," Steve gets up, much to Margret's disapproval.

She eyes her two spazzes for a moment before heading over to Steve once she was satisfied that they were okay. Helen and Boston were elated that Sam wanted to play with them and continued chittering happily while they swooped around.

Carol offers a hand and a smile to Steve. "It's good to see you."

Steve takes the hand and gives it a firm shake. "And you." He lets go and gives her a smile. Really, he wanted to say it was nice to meet her, but he figured that not saying it was better.

"How was the journey?" The snowstorm sure made it a weird journey for him to get here and meet up with her.

Yeah, it probably would have been kinda weird. Carol understands that he hasn't met the copy of her in his universe yet, but it's still one of those things she'd rather not acknowledge more than necessary.

"It wasn't that bad. I haven't been camping in a while so it took some getting use to. How about you?"

"It was fine, Sam likes to push himself, so I had to force him down twice to rest, but otherwise normal," he lifts his eyebrows in a shrugging like motion. "So, how was catching your first Pokemon?" It bothers some and excites others, he was curious which she would be.

"It was odd, but not too bad. Helen snuck up on him, so it wasn't too hard of a battle for her. I actually think he more gave up than anything." Yeah, putting cute animals into tiny balls freaked her out at first, but she did some digging and everything she found said they were comfortable and happy so it didn't bother her too much.

"So, got any badges yet?"

Yeah, catching Pokemon feels weird to him. Almost all of his are eggs or the one that caught itself. He just feels more comfortable raising a Pokemon rather than catching it. Besides, his one catch goes kamikaze on everything. She doesn't get let out much.

"Just one so far, it lets me fly around on Sam. Been meaning to get my second, but I haven't had the chance yet," yeah because if his time wasn't spent searching for Immy and Thor, he was keeping Tony company.

"That sounds useful. Though I'm still iffy on either of those two actually being able to carry me."

Carol would like to get through the gyms as soon as she can. That was the point of this all, wasn't it? She didn't have any distractions like Steve that would take her attention away from getting it all done and over with.

At least not yet.

"We should go through them together. My pokémon are great, but I think I'll go insane if I have to travel with only them all the time."

"They don't seem it, but those pipsqueaks can carry you for hours at a time. I have a Pokemon half Sam's size and he carries me just fine. There's a lot of bazaar things about this place."

Steve wishes he had less distractions so he could just do the Gyms. He just trains all the time and three of his Pokemon are nearing their full potential. It's strange to think that his starter is nearly 100. And as if summoned, Grace is at his side, sleepily leaning against him while studying Carol.

"I'd like that. Besides, no one should travel alone, most travel in large groups. I think it makes most people feel less crazy."

Carol smiles. Not that she couldn't travel on her own, but she definitely didn't want to.

"Great. I was going to head to Violet next to get my badge there."

Steve traveled alone for a while after everyone got split up, he's not very keen on doing it too often.

"Sounds good, want to stop and stay here for a night or keep going?" He pauses for a second then adds, "Also, it'll be a few weeks before you're ready to take on the Gym Leader. He specializes in flying types, so, you might want to look into non-flying Pokemon, maybe electric or ice to gain the advantage over him."

Carol looks back at her two birds, who are still happily flying around with Sam. She's happy she has both of them, but she will admit that she needs to diversify a little more.

"Yeah, that might be a good idea. I'll look into what's catchable on the next route. Apparently my egg won't hatch until July so that's out."

"What egg did you get?"

Steve seems to keep getting eggs. Only three of his Pokemon are actually caught and one was a forced catch by the Pokemon itself.

"A Dratini. I looked it up in the pokégear and it seemed like a good choice." Carol so far doesn't have that problem.

So far.

Ah yes, Dratini. Steve probably hatched the grumpiest Dratini to exist.

"I have one of those, the eggs do take forever to catch. But it's a good choice, really useful in a battle. Mine is particularly difficult, but I hear he's not the norm at all," there's a second where he pauses and realizes something, "he's like Fury on a bad day."

Carol lets out a snort of laughter at teh image of a Dratini wearing an eyepatch and a trench coat.

"What did you name him?"

Steve tries to hide his embarrassment, he had just picked the first name to come to mind and it was so uncreative. At least he did plan on changing it at some point.

"Nessy, but I intend to change it now that I've gotten to know him."

"I'm sure you'll come up with something." Yeah, it was a bit uncreative, but Carol imagines it gets hard coming up with unique names after a while.

"Yeah, probably call him Fury knowing my naming habits lately. Though I don't think I introduced you," points to the Lucario next to him, "this is Grace, she's my starter. She doesn't like most people, so don't be offended if she snubs you. She hates Tony." It's actually kind of funny, but he tries not to let Tony know that.

That doesn't surprise Carol at all. When she first heard Tony was here she wondered how he did with all the pokemon.

"The Taillow's Helen, she was my starter." She points over to where Helen is literally flying in circles around Sam. "Boston's the Pidgey."

"They're quite lively."

Steve didn't figure on introducing the rest, but why not. "I have a lot of Pokemon, so I'll spare you all of them, but Amber is the Espeon over there, Margret the Absol. If Amber tries to get into your head, let me know, she has a habit of trying to talk to people."

"Yeah, I'm hoping they might mellow a bit with age."

Carol raises an eyebrow "You pokemon invades people's brains to talk to them?"

"Yeah, Amber is a psychic type and learned to use telepathy, so she often tries to talk directly to people," Steve at this point is used to her being in his head at time, but did not like it for the longest time.

"That's pretty amazing, and also a little creepy." Carol's definitely not on board with the whole someone else in her head thing.

"Yeah, I'll make sure to tell her to stay out of your head," he gives it a pause then smirks as he continues. "She did it to Tony once, it scared him so bad, he fell out of his seat and spilled his fruity drink all over himself."
