Find a way to move on, a way to be strong, because some things do change
Who: Chihiro Fujisaki (
readapts), Kiyotaka Ishimaru (
ardent), Makoto Naegi (
superordinary), and Mondo Oowada (
diamondo)
Where: Cherrygrove Inn
When: 6/27
Summary: Four-way Dangan reunion, now that they're all in the same general vicinity as one another. There is literally no way this will turn stupid in ten minutes at the most. (Possible Dangan Ronpa spoilers in comments!)
Rating:guys you really shouldn't let me set these things I never know what to put I'll set it at PG-13 right off the bat because of Mondo's mouth, and I'll mess with it as needed.
Log:
[Ishimaru still finds it to be an immense relief to have Fujisaki here and in one piece; it's not that he doubted her ability to arrive in Cherrygrove City more or less intact (all right, maybe he doubted it slightly, but at least Naegi confirmed there were no bears on the route required to get there and Fujisaki did have a Pokémon with her so that was something of a comfort), but it was more that until he saw her for himself, it was almost as though he couldn't trust that she was really there. He tended to prefer seeing things with his own eyes, having irrefutable proof right in front of him, and now that he had it...well.
It was nice, all right.
It had taken some convincing to get him into her room at the local inn, and it still wasn't exactly sitting well with him that she'd offered so openly; just the same, he would have time to scold her for it later, if she repeated the behavior - notifying their classmates of where they were had come first in terms of priorities. Of course, everyone in this situation being who they were, it hadn't taken long for things to snowball from there, and now they were set to not just have one boy in a hotel room with Fujisaki, they were set to have three.
...lovely.
However, Fujisaki seemed enthusiastic about the idea and Ishimaru had no doubt that Naegi and Oowada would be trustworthy, even with something in the back of his mind protesting against thinking that with regards to Oowada, given the situation; he was quick to crush that line of thought, however - this was his brother they were talking about, after all, and even if things escalated, both Naegi and Ishimaru himself would be there to handle the fallout.
For the time being, however, there seemed to be very little to worry about other than the inherent awkwardness. Ishimaru contented himself with standing by the window and trying to not just completely lock up with rigidness, arms folded across his chest; small talk without purpose has never really been his thing, but he's willing to at least attempt until the others arrive. As it stands, he's more excited than bothered; it'll be nice to have them all in the same place again - somewhere outside of Hope's Peak.]

What had been nerve-wracking was travelling with a girl (a goddess, even) to Cherrygrove. Now that had made him rather nervous, though it'd smoothed over within the first day or two. He was only nervous for one thing about this meeting, and that was something he was sure he'd be able to truck on past, and which he wouldn't let affect him. He'd already made up his mind on the matter, after all!
He looks over from his own spot near the door (he's left it slightly ajar after they'd contacted their other two classmates) and peers toward Ishimaru's back. And past it, to what he can glimpse of the snow still falling outside...]
Does it look like it's stopping at all...?
[He nudges a foot against the door to ease it open a bit more. Occasionally he'll glance out into the hall, to listen to see if he can hear either Naegi or Mondo. They'd told them what room it was but hey, could be easy to pass by!]
no subject
[He actually doesn't sound nearly as irritated by that as he could be, though; it's hard to tell whether it's because he's actually feeling a bit more amenable to Johto...being Johto or if it's because he's trying to relax a bit in anticipation of the meeting itself, but it's a positive shift either way.]
I don't think it'll hold them up too badly, though, if that's the concern!!
no subject
[Especially where it was so warm yesterday, even the day before that... But he hums a little and looks at the door again.]
I hope it won't, anyway. Though, I feel bad that I don't have anything to offer any of you...drinks, or anything. [Tea would probably be nice. Hot chocolate. Ah well.]
no subject
But that's not something he's currently worried about; instead, he's recalling his Houndoom and making his way to the room Ishimaru told him they'd meet up in. It certainly doesn't take him long to find it thanks to Ishimaru's ridiculously loud voice.]
Oy, Fujisaki!
[He grins and waves at their classmate as he enters the room, immediately taking up a spot on the other side of the door, standing there with his arms folded and head cocked. He'd almost look intimidating if it weren't for that goofy grin.]
Good to see you again! How's Johto been treating you? Hope the travelling wasn't too rough!
no subject
Hey, sorry for being late... I got you all something warm to drink.
[ He's smiling sheepishly as he enters the room holding three cups of Staryubucks hot chocolate. No, he didn't miscount them - the fourth cup is being carried by the Togetic floating by his side.
Said Togetic immediately makes a beeline for Chihiro, holding out the cup for him. ]
no subject
Hi, Oowada-kun… [For a second he almost thinks of-- Nope. He won't let it. He'll ignore the memories, they're not important and don't have a place here, not now, and smiles at Mondo instead.] It's been a while...!
[When he goes to answer his question, well, the last of them make their entrance and Chihiro brightens up even more. He takes the offered cup, clasping it in his hands.] Thank you…and thank you, Naegi-kun.
[Ehehe. The gang’s all here… He fidgets, pleased despite himself.]
My travelling went well, [he says, answering the question belatedly,] I met a girl and she travelled with me as far as here…she helped me a lot.
no subject
Naegi-kun! Just because we don't have classes for the time being doesn't mean that tardiness will be accepted - promptness is still expected, even here!
[It's said with all the usual volume; at the same time, the usual edge those words may have normally carried with them is decidedly softened and the chiding is more affectionate than anything - no harm done, Naegi.
...that said, don't make a practice of this.]
At any rate, it's good that we're all here now; I assume your own travels were decent as well, Naegi-kun?
no subject
Sorry, Ishimaru-kun. It wasn't my intention. Here, please take this... [ He gives Ishimaru a nod in response to his question regarding his travels, and offers him one of the cups of chocolate he's holding. Here's hoping that a warm, nice drink makes up for his tardiness. ]
They were. I rode here on the back of my Sawsbuck, so I got here in no time at all.
[ He pauses briefly, and: ] It's so good to see you all again.
no subject
[How thoughtful! Even if it is some totally expensive hot chocolate that's probably not worth the money spent. Oh well. It's the thought that counts, right?]
We had a pretty fun ride too, right kyoudai?
[Well, Mondo certainly enjoyed it at any rate! Not quite as great as riding on a motorcycle, but riding on a giant flying sea serpent is pretty fucking awesome.]
no subject
Ah, so we did! I was telling Fujisaki-kun before you arrived, actually - that Magikarp I was training outside of Goldenrod City some time back evolved, it made the journey here much easier!
[Well, judging from the fact that he seems...really exuberant over that, it seems that he's located his sense of "fun" for a moment.
...It exists, it's just. sleeping most of the time. or something.]
That all of us would have been brought here in such a short period of time...it's truly a blessing. Hopefully our good fortune will continue to hold out!
no subject
[That's said pretty quietly, mostly to himself, as he glances over to his bed where his Starly and the rolled-up fuzzball that's his Cyndaquil are chilling, now with Togetic company. They're too little to ride yet but one day.]
It's really great we were all able to come here...! Ah, um-- [Fidget.] What have you all been doing since you've been here?
[He also wants to ask Naegi what happened after everything back in the school, but in time... Right now he'll settle for that question and sip at his hot chocolate omnomnom.]
no subject
Now to address Fujisaki's question: ]
Um, a lot of walking around... and training my Pokémon. I've also been reading about breeding since I'm a breeder, but I'm not in a hurry to start the whole breeding business. My Pokémon are still young.
[ Naegi isn't sure when his Pokémon are mature enough to start reproducing, but he doesn't really like the thought of letting them breed when they're less than a few months old. ]
no subject
[He isn't quite sure how it all works yet... Also with eggs. How does a mammal hatch out of an egg... Maybe it's better not to think too hard about it.]
And, Oowada-kun...? Ishimaru-kun? [He tips his head their way. What's the up and up, you guys.]
no subject
[Seriously, that sounds way more difficult than training Pokémon!]
I haven't been up to much, just training and--
[WAIT HANG ON they haven't told Chihiro about Team Rocket yet! Mondo looks startled momentarily before turning to Chihiro.]
Ah, hey, we forgot to mention something important. See, when you show up in this world there are three different jobs you can be given. There's a breeder, like Naegi, a trainer, and a Team Rocket member. Team Rocket's this criminal organization that steals shit from people and they're basically the "villains" in this game, y'know? I dunno if you ever played Pokémon, Fujisaki, but they were the bad guys there.
Right, so, both Ishimaru and I wound up here as members of Team Rocket. Don't ask me why, 'cause I can't tell you; I've got no idea either. We can leave the organization if we want to, we'll just be thrown in jail for awhile. But Ishimaru and I don't wanna do that; we wanna take down this organization from within so they stop hurting people and stealing shit, y'know?
[This is even more awkward than telling Naegi, if only because it's Chihiro, sweet, innocent Chihiro, who really shouldn't be exposed to these sorts of things. Mondo rubs at the back of his neck while he tries to push on.]
So we... might have to do shit for this organization in the future, y'know? But there is a reason why we're doing all this! I mean besides the whole sabotage thing! See, if anyone in this region has information on how people come here, it's likely to be someone in power, right? So if we can get close to the Executives, we can figure out what they know about that. Maybe there's some way to bring people here! Then we could bring the rest of our classmates here! Everyone would be safe from that fucking bear! None of 'em deserve to be there! So... so we're working together to figure out a way to bring them here and take down Team Rocket while we're at it!!
[...When did he start yelling exactly? Oh well, at least it's impassioned yelling. Hopefully there aren't any Team Rocket members around to hear, whoops.]
no subject
...Those would be the circumstances that I mentioned before, Fujisaki-kun, about the Pokémon I started with - that hideous organization gave it to me, and its behavior is strange. I'm told that's not uncommon; someone else within the group mentioned the same sort of thing!
Ah - but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about! We haven't been given anything that we can't handle, nor have we been told to do anything unreasonable at this point; it's just a matter of staying on our superiors' good sides, that's all!
[He's glossing over it way too much, his speech loud and rapid; there really is something horribly awkward about telling Fujisaki about this, for a reason he can't really articulate. It's less a sheltering thing on his end, exactly, and more just...not wanting her to worry, but...]
no subject
All right. Let's work this out. So Ishimaru and Mondo are members of a criminal organisation and they're trying to take it down and that's really dangerous, isn't it???
There's no not worrying about something like this.]
Um... But it's possible that they could...get you to do something difficult eventually, isn't it? [Well... He hopes not to the extent of what Monobear had them do back in the school... His gaze falls to the floor.] Taking down that kind of group sounds...really hard.
[.........]
Even if it would be good if everyone else were to come here...
[That is to say, he doesn't think he could fully commit to trying to dissuade them from that. He's sure--well, he hopes anyhow--they already know how serious that kind of task is.]
no subject
It'll be difficult, I'm sure, but we're going to find a way to bring the others here.
This place has already proved that it can pick people up from different times. We can save everyone, Fujisaki-san. Maizono-san and Enoshima-san and Kuwata-kun and everyone else who's died can have another chance at life here...! [ It all comes out a little louder and more intense than intended, and his voice sounds determined; it's the same determination that surfaces during the school trials. Naegi's never been an extraordinary person, but he would move mountains if it meant bringing his friends to safety. ]
no subject
However, Ishimaru has been finding that he can't consider Fujisaki to be an enemy of his, either, even if she does possess extraordinary talent; as much as he can't stand genius - and he's certain that Fujisaki qualifies, whether she would put it into so many words herself or not - her apparent concern is enough to allow him to look past that for now. It's the lack of concern that causes problems; this, on the other hand, is...well, it's making her very decent, at least, which makes looking out for her far easier.
...it's likely fortunate that while he completely lacks tact and social grace, he at least knows to keep thoughts like that inside his head where they belong.]
Naegi-kun is exactly right - if there's even a chance that this might result in saving everyone, it would be a disgrace not to pursue it! As for what we might be asked to do...well, I've made it clear that I adhere to a strict policy of nonviolence, which hasn't been called into question or contradicted so far by anyone there - I won't violate that for any reason!
And besides, we can leave if things get too terrible; there would be consequences for doing so, but if it gets to a point where doing otherwise is unacceptable, then so be it!
no subject
[Mondo falls silent after that, glancing out the window instead of at any of his classmates.]
So... so don't worry, okay? We can handle ourselves! And we'll always have each others' backs, so there's no need to worry!!
no subject
I... [He'll still worry, of course. It's only natural to worry about them.] I believe in you three, so if... if I can help out too, please let me!
[Sure, he could only do so much in the school--even if Naegi told him how much Alter Ego had done--but maybe here his skills could be of use somehow?]
I definitely want to do something if it could save everyone...!
no subject
Um, by the way, there's one thing I'd like you to take a look at. [ He sets his cup of chocolate aside and slides his backpack off his shoulders and unzips it. After a few seconds of rummaging through its contents, he pulls out a certain photo and holds it out for Fujisaki to see. He's had it framed to better protect it from creases and bends. ]
A few weeks ago we all got some things from home, and this is what I got... It's most likely from Hope's Peak.
no subject
And for now, if it means his help can be in doing something with this photo... Chihiro leans forward to look at it, moving to take it after a second to see better. And he stares.]
Eh? Why are we all...? [He remembers that he thought Naegi was familiar when they first met, but he doesn't recall anything like this... Also, he's wearing gym clothes! Around other people! That's almost as bad as a swimsuit.]
no subject
[Mondo frowns. He hasn't been able to come up with any other theories about what that picture could be since he last spoke to Naegi. Of course, he's not exactly the brains of their little operation here, so hopefully someone else has more ideas.]
Do you think it could be Photoshopped? I mean, it looks pretty fucking real to me, but there's no way it actually happened. Naegi and I talked about it for a bit, and it's pretty obvious it came from home. We all got shit from back home.
[His tone wavers a bit there; it's not clear whether he sounds upset by that or pleased with it. He's quick to move on though.]
So if Naegi got that from home, then it's possibly something Monobear faked, right? But what's the point of faking something like that if we all know that it couldn't have happened?
no subject
I'll check it out some more, if it's okay.
[He looks at the photograph again, discomfited.]
Like with those...videos... [Thinking about it, what came from it, just makes a lump rise in his throat. T-they had to be fake, too. Had to. Fujisaki swallows.] But this doesn't really look...like they did. I don't really understand what the point would be for this, either.
[Unless it's, somehow, real? --except, he's sure he'd remember something like this. So he keeps from saying that.]
no subject
I found similar photos back at the school, but they only had three people in each photo... and Monobear took them away immediately. [ The people in said photos were all dead by the time he found them, but he leaves that part out. ]
It's possible he just wanted to mess with us with those... but this one is different since it features all of us. [ Even the unfamiliar girl next to Enoshima who he believes to be Mukuro Ikusaba. But there's something familiar about her, too. Hell, the picture in general... somehow makes him feel nostalgic when he looks at it for more than a few minutes. ]
It's possible that there's some hidden message to it, or something. Also... [ He trails off, trying to find the right words to say what he wants to say. Because what he's going to say next will probably make him sound like a pervert no matter how he phrases it. ]
Doesn't Enoshima-san seem a little different? Her chest looks bigger than usual...
no subject
...
... ... ...
okay whatever importance he may or may not have been putting on it, it certainly had nothing to do with that, holy crap he knows you did not just say what he thinks you said - ]
Naegi-kun!
[yep
yep from the sound of it oh my god boy you are in so much shit]
How would you know that, unless you had been spending a considerable amount of time ogling Enoshima-kun's chest?! That's highly unacceptable behavior, and if she were here you would be expected to apologize straightaway; however, since she isn't, we're going to have to settle for the next best thing! You're going to be writing lines, as soon as we're done with our discussion here - is that understood?!
no subject
Aw, c'mon, kyoudai! Knock it off! This ain't school!
[Though of course that wouldn't matter, since it offends Ishimaru's delicate sensibilities.]
He's got a point though! There's definitely something off 'bout Enoshima!
[Particularly her chest...]
no subject
fuck ]
Ishimaru-kun, I...I haven't been ogling her, I swear! I've been looking at the photo a lot since I got it, and then I realized that something was different about her...
[ please don't make him write lines ]
no subject
but he will gladly glare daggers at you too before rounding on Naegi again]
So you've just been ogling her here as well, through the photograph?! After all, that's not a common thing to notice -
[.....................wait
wait wait wait]
...Kyoudai, don't tell me you've been staring at Enoshima-kun's chest as well!!
no subject
[Yep, he is totally the picture of innocence.
Totally.
Totally.
Just ignore the fact that he's trying not to laugh, okay.]
no subject
[Not to interrupt your conversation of ogling girls' chests or anything but.
Well, for one thing, Chihiro feels like they're going to get into trouble if this conversation doesn't stop soon. Like the police are gonna bust through the door and arrest them for talking about girls' chests (never you mind that he, for all appearances, is a girl)...
Or. Ishimaru's going to pop a blood vessel. Either way, the ending to this might be a bad one.]
Excuse me... [He says it like he's in a classroom, like he'll get made to write lines too for cutting in.] Is it okay if I...ask something? The girl next to Enoshima-san... Who is she?
no subject
When Chihiro speaks up and asks about the mysterious girl, Naegi is quick to leave the previous topic of chests behind and answer him. ]
I don't know for sure, but I think she may be Mukuro Ikusaba...The sixteenth student we didn't know about until after the fourth trial. Kirigiri-san found some files on her and suspected her to be the mastermind, but then we found her body in the garden a few days later.
no subject
At any rate, Fujisaki's interjection has at least completely quelled any desire Ishimaru may have had to continue discussing Enoshima's chest - he looks at her for a moment as though she's quite suddenly held up a grenade or something before immediately tensing up and bowing quickly in apology.]
Ah, Fujisaki-kun! Please accept my apologies for such blatant disrespect - to be discussing such things in front of one of the girls...!
[Not that such things should be discussed at all, but that particular implication mercifully goes soaring over his own head for the time being. He straightens up once that's out there, however, and at the very least the interruption has greatly decreased his likelihood of having an aneurysm in the next three minutes.
He's given that photo quite a lot of thought since Naegi showed it to them a while ago; he's no closer to having answers, but...]
A-Anyway...it seems that none of us knew Ikusaba-kun, nor did we know that she was in the school to begin with. If we assume that only the mastermind could have known about her, then I'd guess that the mastermind killed her - but that would make the trial unwinnable in the first place, wouldn't it?
[Well, there is another possibility - that the mastermind in question is one of the other students still in the game, out to kill the rest of them in one go - but that isn't something that he's going to consider. He hasn't known his classmates for very long, but he still doesn't want to believe any of them capable of cold-blooded murder in the first place, much less...that.]
no subject
Was it... When you put it like that, it sort of sounds like a trap...
[An unwinnable trial...and without being able to accuse Monobear, presumably, it'd be bad for them all.]
no subject
Ah, yeah, I guess Monobear - or well, whoever's behind it - wants to get rid of everyone pretty quickly, right?
no subject
There were other instances of rule-breaking in that trial - things that you mentioned to me earlier, weren't there, Naegi-kun?
no subject
[ He's had a lot of time to think about the trial and the possible reasons it was set up to begin with. This is the explanation that makes the most sense. He takes a deep breath before he continues. ]
...Guess he didn't expect me to keep quiet about the evidence that would break her alibi. Monobear ended the trial before we were done discussing and told us to vote. Since I was the only person without an alibi, I was voted as the culprit for a murder I did not commit -- but Monobear said they voted for the right person and tried to have me executed. I only survived because the AI Fujisaki-san created hijacked the machine.
no subject
So that's how... Alter Ego...
[His AI did good after all, even if he thinks it's terrible that it happened. And to Naegi, of all people, Naegi who worked so hard to figure out the murders... Chihiro almost goes to say this, but maybe he realises that Ishimaru and Naegi both look uncomfortable, so keeps quiet.]
no subject
[Mondo glances away after that's out there, focusing somewhere out the window instead of on any of his friends. The mastermind really wanted Naegi dead, huh? If it hadn't been for--]
Wait, hang on, what AI?
no subject
...Actually, that's a good question. I don't recall you mentioning any AI to me either, Naegi-kun, just that you survived somehow - what does this AI...do, exactly?
no subject
[ Naegi's not sure why he didn't mention this earlier, but they probably were too busy catching up and talking about other things, last time... ]
Let me summarize those files. A year ago, something called "The Worst, Most Despair-Inducing Incident in the History of Mankind" happened and the school was shut down as a result. Then a plan was devised to lock down the students of Hope's Peak and have them live a communal lifestyle within the school, possibly for the rest of their lives.
no subject
But, um...that sounds like something you'd usually hear about, right? [And, even further,] On television, or the 'net, but I don't remember anything like that, or about the school being closed down...
