Ninety-nine Red Balloons
Who:
primaduelerina and YOU
Where: Violet City, including the latter part of Route 31 and the first part of Route 32 if you so desire
When: Friday, August 13
Summary: DRIFLOONS, DRIFLOONS EVERYWHERE. In other words, if you don't feel like doing an OMG BALLOONS post, here is your place to tag! Threadhop, mingle, get carried away and have someone try to save you, run after the little things with a needle, have fun! Action or prose are both accepted and encouraged equally.
Rating: PG-13, just in case.

Asuka could be counted on to remain composed and poised in nearly every situation, save for the ones that were absolutely panic-inducing, and this wasn't one of them. However, that didn't mean she was too pleased with the situation right now. Her Teddiursa had been abducted no less than three times until Asuka had to settle for keeping the little bear in her arms and directed Prima to keep the floating purple creatures at bay.
This worked well enough, but there were more of them than there were of any of the trio, and Asuka could only be grateful that they weren't hostile. In fact, one of them had drifted over cautiously and, instead of issuing a challenge to battle, had found some sort of fascination with Asuka's hair and was now playing with it, raising the end to gather her hair into a ponytail and twirling its strings into strands of it to curl it.
It was almost reminiscent of Fubuki, sans the gesturing and laughing and exclamations of, "Asuka, you MUST revel in your beauty and share it with the world!" Which was the only reason she did tolerate this odd little thing.
And if there were less of them surrounding her and staring, she'd be even happier.

Artemisia, use a gentle Gust to coax the Drifloon down carefully! Don't hurt the child!
[Which was why Mitsuru was currently ordering her Butterfree to gently ground a nearby Drifloon who had attached itself to a child no older than 4 or 5 and had managed to lift it at least ten feet off the ground]
no subject
Mitsuru? What-- [ and then she hesitates, since she doesn't want to risk startling the Drifloon she was attempting to ground. ]
no subject
It gradually lowers toward the ground, and once the child is within reach, Mitsuru reaches out to grab her and pull her out of the Drifloon's stringy arms. Once the kid is safe, Mitsuru turns her attention to Asuka again (most notably, the Drifloon playing with her hair)]
I see you've befriended one of these creatures yourself, Tenjoin.
no subject
I don't know if I'd call it "befriended", exactly. It's just taken a liking to my hair.
[ and then, with a sigh, she gives the other girl a smile. ] It's good to see you again.

[There is a sudden 'WHOOOM' noise coming from behind Mitsuru, courtesy of her Butterfree, who decided to let loose a full-powered Gust attack at the Drifloon now that the kid was safe without orders from her trainer.
The panicked cries of 'FLOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooon' can be heard as the poor balloon creature is blown away into the sky. Mitsuru just shakes her head]

There really are too many of them for this to be a normal occurrence.

[Watch out, there is a Drifloon floating behind him. If you look close enough though, one of the ends is in his Houndour's mouth.]

[Mitsuru watches caaaarefully as her Butterfree coaxes the Drifloon and kid down, and once the child is safe, she turns to face Shinjiro]
Have you caught one for yourself?
no subject
[He'll watch as well, then... shrug after a moment, carefully avoiding eye contact.]
... You could say that.

popfight off the balloon Pokemon. The look on his face pretty much screams "I can't fucking believe this is happening." Next to him, though, are his Rattata and-- well what do you know, another Drifloon. But this one is just staring at the little mouse, and after a few minutes of waiting, it slowly drifts over, picks up the Rattata, and begins to float away--When Shinji turns and gives it a sharp glare and utters just one word.]
No.
[... At which point, almost tearfully, the now crushed looking Drifloon lowers itself and the Rattata back to the ground. That poor, poor balloon.]
no subject
Aaaah...! Look at all of them!! I wonder where they all came from all of a sudden?
no subject
And looking somewhat mortified. ]
Is this karma??
no subject
Karma? No, I think they're called Drifloons, Kay.
