With the perky new song singing about the city, the summer Bug-Catching contest is back on in full force! With everything that's been going on lately, it's high time they start some for-fun things to do. So, mid-afternoon on Thursday, they gather the participants. After the participants check their other pokémon in at the front, they're all asked to line up in the front. From there, one park official reads the rules while another passes out twenty sport balls. Then once everything's settled, they're just about ready to go!

Three... Two... One... Catch!

(Rainbow dismisses the curious question of Spike's by waving her hand around a couple times in an 'ehh' manner.)

One that's super-cool and awesome! One that can keep up with the Scyther I got a couple weeks ago, or if the one I get is higher than Scyther in level, one that will show Scyther how to get stronger! You know, 20% stronger and all.

(A beat. She knew a place like this wasn't Rarity's thing even if she had gone with them.) What happened to Pinkie Pie?

[Spike grins. Typical Rainbow Dash! He honestly didn't expect anything less. In a joking voice.]

What if it's...30 per cent cooler?

[Spike hadn't seen Pinkie since they arrived. He shrugged.]

You know Pinkie. Probably off throwing a bug catching party.

So uh...there aren't any...you know....really dangerous pokemon in this forest, are there? Hopefully no more Pinchys at least...

(Blink, blink. 30% cooler? Rainbow Dash laughed at Spike's quip; he was learning!)

Eh, long as whichever one I get doesn't leave us hanging when things get tough.

(She laughs harder at that one. A bug catching party?! Rainbow would expect the invitation delivered by a Bug type.)

Hehehe, I've heard that you might find a nest of Kakuna in forests and if you disturb 'em they become Beedrill really quickly!

[Spike grins, glad he was able to make her laugh. He waves off her first comment with one hand.]

Aww c'mon Rainbow Dash. This is you we're talking about. You even made Tank look cool. Man was that a piece of work.

You'll have no problem with a bug pokemon.

[He's definitely feeling a lot more nervous about this competition though.]

Haha, yeah. Tank helped me out a bit too. (That whole 'being loyal and crossing the finish line with her' thing.)

Of course not! I've got a Scyther, after all. More Bug Pokemon? PLease!

(She points to his PokeGear, then brings up info on a Kakuna on her own. And he should be scared outta his dragon-loving mind when she brings up a Beedrill.)

That's a Kakuna, a bug-like cocoon a Weedle stays in until it becomes a Beedrill.

[Since Rainbow Dash already opened the information on her pokegear, Spike leans over to take a look.]

Oh they don't look tha...[Spike gulps as the Beedrill is brought up on the screen.]

Uh....those are some pretty big pointy claw things...

So...maybe I could...uh...just wait here. Yeah! I can look after all the pokemon...and maybe a bug pokemon will just wander out of the forest. That could happen, right?

[Spike, you're already registered for the competition...]

(Rainbow nodded, waving aside the whole 'claws' thing with a 'meh' response.)

They're only dangerous if they hit you, Spike. You just gotta avoid 'em and launch a counterattack!

(A beat, and she replies with a frown to his question before -yoink! Pulling him alongside her to go deeper INTO the forest!)

...Are you serious? The fun's not out here; we wait any longer, it'll get boring and all the cool Pokemon will be snatched up!

[Spike's not looking too confident, but he's definitely jotting down what Rainbow Dash is saying.]

Counter...attack. OkaaaERK! [His body jolts as Rainbow Dash starts dragging him into the forest.]

Wa...wait! R...rainbow Dash! Are you sure we're supposed to go right in?

Aren't there like...rules or something we should be following??

[The fact that at least half the competitors have already started trekking into the forest hasn't really clicked for Spike, who is looking panicky.]
