Ain't no party like a ninja party

Who: open to literally anyone in Blackthorn City who wanders into the ninja party + friends
Where: Blackthorn City (mainly hotsprings but also anywhere)
When: July 23rd
Summary: Sasuke gets a birthday party whether he wants one or not. Lucky for him, he has friends (in spite of his best efforts) who'll plan one.
Rating: G? PG for violence

[ooc; general mingle log for Blackthorn City/Sasuke's birthday. Most of it will probably take place at the hotsprings itself, though like the 'who' says, it's completely open to anyone just walking by and wondering what the big deal is, or someone who's already there and then has their pleasant soak interrupted by a bunch of dumb ninjas.]

Hey, Mom! What'cha making?

[He's found her in the middle of frosting up the red parts of the fans. The spread of cupcakes in front of her have already been covered in bright blue. for the background.]

I'm finishing the cupcakes for your teammate. And no you can't have any. Not until they go out to the party.

Aww, but Mom...

[Aww, he supposes he can wait until later. Sasuke won't eat them all anyway, he's allergic to fun foods. Or fun.]

Hey, hey, can I help with anythin'?

No buts! You can wait like everyone else.

[But she pauses at his offer with a gleam in her eyes.]

Since you're offering... I could use some help with the dishes. [Oh look Naruto. She's pointing over to a sink with a few batter bowls, a spatula, and several other dishes from the morning's cooking exploits. Breakfast included.] If you do, I wouldn't mind if a cupcake went missing early...

[He visibly deflates when she points to the sink-- he hates chores, and cleaning. It's a good thing she never saw the state his apartment was in.]

Seriously?

[She's getting the feeling this is going to take some heavy levels of bribery. Gonna keep her cool because she's not a big fan of doing the dishes.]

Two cupcakes and whatever you want me to make for dinner tonight or tomorrow night?

[Might have to be for tomorrow night since she's going to end up drunk as a skunk with daddy and granny...]

[Steadily getting on mom's nerves, judging by the look on her face and how she's brandishing a frosting-covered spoon at Naruto. A++]

[The sentence died on her lips, unable to bring herself to even go as far as "If I had raised you..." Her wish had come to pass later in his life here, but left her to adjust to all the rapid changes in a whole different world. Her grip tightened slightly on the spoon as she turned back to her work.]

Just give me that bowl of white frosting over there...

[Oh whoops, he's already making her upset with him. Looking a little like a puppy that just got told off, he passes her the frosting before shuffling over towards the sink, not saying anything as he unzips his jacket and throws it over the back of a chair. He's gonna do the dishes.]

Did you talk to Sasuke yet, anyway. He was on my team, with Sakura-chan.

[She seems a little surprised when she notices him prepping to do the dishes. But then, it was her first time scolding her son. This being a mom to a teenager thing was going to take some getting used to...]

No, I haven't. Not since he was a few months old, anyway. But that was... it feels like it was so long ago.

You knew Sasuke as a baby?

Yeah, not for long though. I saw him for the first time some hours before you were born. Mikoto-- his mom-- was one of my best friends. He had so much hair, I wondered if she had a girl. And he was so cute too! Just a tiny little thing that fussed when I poked his cheek.

[She pauses and turns to Naruto, a gentle smile back on her face.]

I told him I hoped you two would be friends. Since you're teammates, I think my wish came true. Right?

[That makes him grin, chuckling to himself. Mom thought Sasuke was a girl.]

[It dies down after she asks about their friendship, though. A lot has happened, over the years.]

Yeah, it did, sorta. He's one of my best friends.

[She positively beams on hearing they were best friends. But what she was imagining was most likely not anything close to reality. ~~let her dream... or not, given all her other questions and requests. sob~~]

Can you tell me more about your friends? Not just Sasuke, but everyone. I've been told you, Sasuke, and Sakura-- I talked to her-- are teammates. What's your team like? I want to hear about how you did at the Academy too! And I'll bet you've taken the Chuunin exams by now. [Breathing? What's breathing? She's certainly not stopping as she chatters away while working.] There's so much I've missed and... [oh right, that's breathing] I want to hear it all.

Yeah, the three of us, Kakashi-sensei was our Sensei. [Obviously. And oh no, Chuunins, why did you have to mention that Mom? He's a little embarrassed over being the only Genin still.] And uh, I never actually took the Chuunin Exams apart from that first time, and they got stopped because of an attack, then I went off training with Ero-sennin so I missed the other ones..

[Skipping the Academy for now, mostly because he was a pain in the butt for his teachers oops.] But I'm friends with all the classmates that graduated the Academy with me! And some that are older than us to, and some that are younger, like Konohamaru, then there's people like Gaara, he's the Kazekage now y'know? [He could chatter on all day about his friends, if she were willing to listen.]

[It was taking a lot of restraint not to interject with young!Kakashi stories. But her face seemed to be doing a good job in place of her mouth. The surprise and delight that her son got to train under one of Minato's own students, her shock that he never really took the Chuunin exams, and... bwuh?] --Ero-sennin? [A thousand more questions nearly popped out, but he's about to talk about his friends! Gotta be a good listener! But hey, there's an opening.]

That's a lot of friends! I'm happy you've found so many. And Kakashi your sensei! I can't believe it! That's incredible! Did he teach you any good ninjutsu? And who is this "Ero-sennin" anyway? I can think of one person I'd call that but... If you learned a lot from training with them, I suppose that's alright...

Yeah, Kakashi-sensei was Team 7's sensei. And I guess he taught me a lotta stuff.. maybe not actual jutstu- well, he taught me that element stuff and trained me so I could do the Fuuton: Rasen-shuriken, by Ero-sennin taught me Rasengan- and yeah, that's Jiraiya-sensei, and [Oh look at the motor mouth go, once he realises he has all this super cool stuff to boast to his Mom about.] hey Mom, hey, I totally went and trained with the toads and mastered sage mode too! And then later, I was training to take control of the Kyuubi chakra, and you showed up, and you helped me with it and you were so cool.

[Haaaaaaa... some things just came full circle didn't they? She seems amused that Jiraiya taught Naruto the Rasengan and contracted him to the toads too. But oh how she prayed internally that he hadn't passed on his perverted nature too... But beyond that, mastering sage mode wasn't any small feat, something she was pretty sure Minato hadn't gotten around to doing. ~~Oh where had the time gone...~~ Who cares if her son was still a genin. He was awesome.

And then it was on to her and taking control of the Kyuubi's chakra. That got her grinning, especially since she was pleased that it meant that maybe she had a meeting with Naruto to look forward if she went back home... to being dead.]

Is he still super serious? Did Jiraiya-sensei tell you your dad made up Rasengan? I just hope he didn't teach you anything pervy... But I'm still so proud of you, ya know! Taking control of the Kyuubi's chakra isn't easy! I'm glad I was able to help you with it. Hehehe... Sure glad to know the seal worked. Not that I doubt your father's skills, y'know! O-of course it should've worked because I taught him a lot of fuinjutsus from my-- er... our family. If we ever get our chakra back, I'll have to teach you some too.

Kakashi-sensei? Nah, he's weird, not in a bad way, but he's not like how you guys all remember him. And Ero-sennin told me it was the Fourth's technique, but he never said he was my Dad, I didn't find that out until years later, y'know when Dad's chakra was in me? And oh man, I hope we can get our chakra back, I bet there's all sorts of really strong techniques you can teach me!

[Only Uzumakis can carry on five conversations at once.]

You'll have to tell me! He was about fourteen when I last saw him so... he'd be... older than me now... [screeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaam] And no one told you Minato was your father?! If Jiraiya-sensei or one of the village elders show up, I'm gonna beat their face in and ask why they didn't say anything to you about it! If Minato hadn't put some of his chakra into your seal, you might never have known! Unless it was left to me to tell you. Did you have enough time to talk with him? Or did I take too much of it when he was making the seal? And you bet there's a bunch I can teach you!

[Yep. Only the Uzumakis. Gotta love the sudden mood fluctuations too as the topics change...]

Well Obito keeps saying he was a bastard, but he's not, not really. He's always late all the time though, and is always reading porn? And yeah- nobody told me, Dad told me when I saw him though. I think most people still don't know, even though it's sorta weird I mean I think I kinda look like him a bit? Even though I look like you, too.

Hehe... Obito never really saw eye to eye with Kakashi. He saw him as a rival in certain things. I'd say more, but he always trusted me when he wanted to talk. But to think Kakashi would take on Obito's timeliness. And porn?! I swear it's got Jiraiya-sensei written all over it. [Literally and figuratively...] I hope he hasn't gotten you reading it too! I'm mad no one told you before, but I guess I'm glad too you found out eventually. And you do look a bit like him. You got his hair and his bright, blue eyes too, y'know. Sorry about your face though. You definitely got the Uzumaki face, but at least not as round as mine used to be.

Actually, yeah. It was Ero-sennin that wrote it. Did you know when I was off training with him, he'd make me read all that stuff for him?! It was so boring, I don't get why people wanna read that stuff.

[Talking about her face, he stops to look up at his Mom again, slightly confused.]

Yeah, but my Mom's a total babe! I said it before, but if I have your face, that means I'm good looking too, right?
