Ain't no party like a ninja party
Who: open to literally anyone in Blackthorn City who wanders into the ninja party + friends
Where: Blackthorn City (mainly hotsprings but also anywhere)
When: July 23rd
Summary: Sasuke gets a birthday party whether he wants one or not. Lucky for him, he has friends (in spite of his best efforts) who'll plan one.
Rating:G? PG for violence
[ooc; general mingle log for Blackthorn City/Sasuke's birthday. Most of it will probably take place at the hotsprings itself, though like the 'who' says, it's completely open to anyone just walking by and wondering what the big deal is, or someone who's already there and then has their pleasant soak interrupted by a bunch of dumb ninjas.]

[backpedal backpedal backpedal!!!!]
With Sandaime still around there wasn't as much paperwork with the transfer and really it was only one cup before I had to start signing things and I invited the toads to watch too, you know they enjoy their alcohol...
[Wow maybe all that steam was getting to him, Minato was turning an interesting shade of red as he continued to babble, trying to make things right again.
There was definitely at least one toast at the wedding though okay you're not taking that away from him.]

Did you hear Sandaime got an entire parade and his first day was his day off?! [ An elegant pause so we can soak up that statement in. ] That old decrepit shit! [ #classy. ] He shoulda made that a tradition! Instead, he goes and takes all the glory for himself.

BUT. A little too much steam and a little too much sake eventually made the decision for him, Minato snorting before starting to laugh, reaching for the nearby floating tray to refill his cup.]
Why didn't either of us make that mandatory for ourselves? I doubt anyone would have questioned it.

Tch. Well, I would've tried but by the time I arrived the Village Elders were already starting to wrangle for power with a man named Danzo. I wanted to relax and gather more data about the village and its differences from when I left, but I was immediately thrusted into work. [ It's hard being a working class gal, y'know? ]

[Some things never change. Danzo had been prickly with him (more so than usual), not very impressed with such a young Hokage. But never really outright hostile or defiant. Wasn't that difficult to imagine that changing with Sarutobi gone though.]

When Konoha was invaded, instead of defending the people or do anything of value, the old fucker decided to stockhold his ROOT so he could become Hokage after I exerted myself. [ She has so many strong feelings about himself. ] He was right, but he was killed in action and I took the helm once more and then shut down his organization. [ Minato your hokageship is something she envies. She has more people jumping down her throat than Joey Chestnut at a hot dog eating contest. ]

every lady in life getting kidnapped, an entire world that labeled him an enemy, and the ever precarious situation with the Uchiha.None of them had had it particularly easy.]
A shame it had to come to that.
[Only not really because fuck those guys. But he did try not to speak too harshly of his elders.]
I realize Homura and Koharu [-san, their names offered with politeness- he certainly wasn't on a casual first name basis with them despite his own rank.] have the village's best interests in mind, but even in my time they pressed for a failing system, too accustomed to a time when it might have worked to realize a change was necessary.
...By the sounds of it, they did the same to you.
[siiiiiip]
Too stubborn and stuck in their ways. Konoha... and the shinobi world itself, really, needs something new.
[An eye for an eye made the whole world blind. If they didn't stop perpetuating a cycle of hatred, there wouldn't be anyone left.]

Y'know, that's an awfully nice way to put it. I don't even think it's that. [ She's cynical. ] Their inability to cooperate and their extremism makes me think they rather just want to make the decisions without looking at them closely. Perhaps it's a time issue, or a difference of opinion but Sandaime was a great and fair man - most of the time - and he was just as ancient as the rest of them.
It has something new on the way, but I'm still surprised to hear such faint criticism. These people wanted to lock your son up in the village and keep him in hiding most of the time because they thought it was the right thing to do. Every decision I made about Naruto was faced with criticism and no praise. Not even a damn "you were right" after he saved the village. Not even a concern for my well being, just instantly elect Danzo and try to screw over your son in different ways. [ Her voice is filled with a considerable amount of anger. ]
Tch. I wish before he died that he could set them straight on why Konoha is such a great place. Their faith in the generation is sorely lacking, yet I've yet to see something beyond waiting from theirs. [ maybe this rant was to just prove her youthfulness or something. ]

[This was the guy who politely addressed Orochimaru after being turned into a zombie, he can't say something bad about anyone.
Minato might have been feared on the battlefield, but behind the desk he was more like a child playing pretend- and he was overly agreeable and diplomatic more often than not because he'd had to be.]
You're right, though. What they've wanted to do, what they have done, it's inexcusable. My son is not a tool to be used for their agenda, and neither are you.
I think Konoha is lucky to have someone like you taking the lead, someone who harshly opposes this incorrect way of thinking and demands more for their people.
[And that's not just sucking up, either. Change wasn't going to happen without an abrupt shaking of the system. Something he hadn't been able to do, despite the earnest faith he'd had in one day seeing it.]

[ Tsunade is just old and, quite frankly, everyone she really cared about is dead. As a result, she's full honey badger. ]
I agree. I'll admit, riling them up and seeing the looks on their faces when I told them that not only did Naruto go out, but he killed an Akatsuki member who faced my granddad, was one of the most rewarding experiences ever. It just shows that, although I may be unlucky, when I put my faith in something it's for the best. [ Yeaaaah B) ]
You really mean so? I mean, shit, I thought Konoha was much luckier under your wing. You had just the right amount of diplomacy to not piss people off by existing and you were a strong and hearty man who had enough power that it wasn't undermined. I'm getting jumped on in different directions by Danzo, his snobs, the akatsuki, and now Madara Uchiha joined the fray. Hell, at first when the five kages got together none would really listen to me because I just joined them and Danzo was in my place and they thought Konoha wasn't trustworthy for its actions. All of the good relations I built up with the countries were pissed away because of that man. I was able to regain them, but still... [ He is a big ass headache despite his death. ]

[His shoulders rolled up in a shrug, Minato reaching for the floating tray to refill his cup.]
I wasn't able to find answers in my time, a way to bring about change and peace... no matter how much I might have wanted it. But, maybe you can.
[He took a drink, swallowed, hissed out an exhale of air at the warm burn the alcohol left behind.
This was a little much for conversation in the baths.]
...You said Naruto was the reason you took the title?

But first, thirsty sipping from Mama Kage. ]
Your last action was to seal the Kyuubi inside Naruto. This eventually led him to Jiraiya, which, led him to me. In a way, you did find a way to further the accomplishment for peace and change. Just not directly. When he tried to complete the bet with him, that he'd master the Rasengan within a week, and kept trying to the extent where he was pulverizing a field and passing out every night, I knew I had to take the job. It's what he, Nawaki and Dan would all want from me and how he mastered it and inspired me to get over my phobia of blood just sealed the deal.

[Of course Minato and Kushina had had dreams for their son, the kind of life he would lead, the impact he would leave. They'd hoped he would be a fine shinobi, a man who would stand up strong in his beliefs, even change the world.
And even if he'd expected no less, there was still surprise and wonder in his tone when he spoke about Naruto, and the accomplishments his son had made. A parent couldn't have asked for more.]
I wish I could have seen the things he's done... but I'm thankful to be able to learn about them here.

I know you'll be able to see his accomplishments somehow. Maybe you should find a genjutsu specialist in that void and see if they can envision things for you! [ what type of awful suggestion... ]
