Summary: Ren wakes up from his coma. Luckily enough, two of his friends happen to be visiting when that happens...

[The concert had been a huge success. Their band had officially won the battle of the bands against HEAVENS, yet no one had to quit their band. The air was filled with hope, happiness and excitement.

They had begun singing the song that originally started their journey as a band. What a perfect way to end a perfect evening like that. With their newest member, Cecil, they warmed up the hearts of the audience and their colleagues.

It was a dream Ren never wanted to end. This was what he had been aiming for with the rest of the band. Their feelings had been conveyed to everyone listening.


But all dreams had to come to an end.


Back in the Pokémon world, Ren had been sleeping in the Pokémon Center in Vermillion City. Now he was slowly opening his eyes, even though he immediately closed them after seeing the light for the first time.

He wasn't really sure what had happened as his mind was still getting used to the idea of being awake, but... somehow he felt different.]

[It had been a while since she'd seen Ren. And with everyone disappearing, it had her worried. Thankfully Masato hadn't run off as well, so she wasn't alone. Masato was an excellent travelling partner, and she was glad that at least these two hadn't been taken home yet.

Getting to the Pokémon Center was easy. She was grateful for that, she hoped nothing bad had happened to her friend, although she couldn't help but worry. He'd been so quiet and well...asleep really! Even though, she'd heard that this was something that happened sometimes, she was still uncomfortable with knowing that Ren had slept for so long.

Looking for Ren, Haruka was suddenly really nervous. What if he still hadn't woken up? She grabbed hold of the bottom of Masato's shirt, shaking slightly.]

[pianosongs]

[Ren being this quiet for so long was actually quite unnerving. Although he wasn't a loud sleeper, and even though he did have odd sleep habits that consisted of rarely waking up for his first class, it was just strange that he was still and quiet for days on end. The surprise still hadn't worn off, but it was a little easier to endure it while keeping an eye on Haruka. At least the travel had gone smoothly, but he still worried, not just over how she was handling the situation but how Jinguji was (to his own dismay sometimes), how Utau was hanging in there...

If Masato went gray early, it would be Jinguji's fault.

At the tug, Masato's serious face just hardened, and he paused, turning to look at Haruka. She seemed so concerned and worried... He didn't like seeing that.]

It'll be okay. He can't sleep forever. [He wasn't allowed to if they had their say.]

[saxsongs]

[It took Ren some time to finally sit up and look around him. Apparently he wasn't where he was supposed to be; the last thing he remembered was walking on Route 11 towards Vermillion City. This looked more like a Pokémon Center.

He remembered Utau saying something about being transported to a Center when she fell asleep... maybe this was the same. Could that mean he wasn't actually, really, sleeping at all? Instead he actually... went home?

Then all of that wasn't a dream, but the future... Huh.]

[heartandsong]

[She tightened her hold on his shirt just a bit, her mind automatically thinking that yes, he could sleep forever. Quickly, she shook her head and then nodded. No, Hijirikawa was right. There was no way Jinguji would sleep forever. He had to wake up at some point. And they'd be there.

Taking a shaky breath, Haruka let go of Hijirikawa's shirt. She stood a little straighter and walk side-by-side with him.

He'd wake up and everything would be fine. It was just the three of them from their world now, and they'd be ok. She just knew it.]

[pianosongs]

[Of course Jinguji had to wake up. He was lazy, but he wasn't so lazy that he'd sleep until infinity. They still needed to sing; they were still a band, and there was a sad lady friend Jinguji probably didn't want to disappoint. Of course he'd get up.

But Masato felt really rotten at comforting her. Although she did let go of his shirt, the silence was so thick one could cut it with a blade. While Masato was used to tense moments, he didn't want the two of them to enter the room with bated breaths, worried and stressed. So he opted for more reassurance.]

He wouldn't worry you for too long. He'll awaken soon enough; we just have to remain patient.

[saxsongs]

[Quietly, Ren got up from the bed he had been sleeping in. Surprisingly he felt pretty good, even if he must have slept for a while. He wasn't sure how long time had passed, as he hadn't looked at the date on his gear yet, but... if this was the same thing that Utau went through he could have slept for a while.

He should probably ask a thing or two from the nurses, at least. He couldn't spot his belongings anywhere, so they must have been somewhere safe within the Center instead. So, he walked towards the door, to get to the main lobby of the Center.]

[heartandsong]

[Nodding at Hijirikawa, Haruka took another breath and looked up at her traveling companion. She smiled a bit.]

R-right! [Hesitantly, Haruka opened the door to one of the employees indicated her friend was in.]

[pianosongs]

[A smile. He was more than relieved to see that. Following Haruka, he watched as she opened the door--only to stare in surprise at the standing occupant before them.

Well, it was about time.]

...So you're awake after all.

[saxsongs]

[Ren was a little taken aback when he saw his friends right after the door opened. Though it also made him happy to know that they were here.]

I just woke up... was I out for long?

[heartandsong]

[Surprised, Haruka's hand was still on the door knob when Hijirikawa and Jinguji spoke. Suddenly she's smiling because oh gosh, he's awake!!]

It's been a-a week! [Her voice breaks a bit and suddenly her eyes look a bit watery.]

How are you f-feeling? [He's awake, and he's ok. He didn't leave. He didn't leave, so she wouldn't cry. She'd cried when the other four had left, but he didn't leave so she wouldn't cry.

Or at least that's what she kept telling herself but before she could stop herself a few tears rolled down her cheeks and she quickly covered her face with her hands, embarrassed. A small sob managed to escape.]

[pianosongs]

Here, Nanami-san.

[But the tears were expected. Masato couldn't even help but shake his head as he retrieved a handkerchief from his pocket, holding it out to her.]

And here I thought you'd be lazy enough to sleep through the month.

[saxsongs]

[Ren reached out a hand to pet Haruka's hair. He smiled gently at his friend.]

It's alright... I'm awake and I'm feeling alright.

[He looked over at Hijirikawa.]

Hah. I was having a pleasant dream, so I wouldn't have been surprised if that was the case.

[heartandsong]

[She whimpered just a bit when Hijirikawa said her name, a sniffle when Jinguji placed his hand on her head. Wiping at the tears, she looked over to her fellow piano player. She shook her head at his offered handkerchief and merely wiped at her face with her hands again.

Her eyes were watery but she smiled up at her two friends.]

I'm glad you didn't.

[pianosongs]

[Masato just tucked the dismissed handkerchief into his pocket again, just watching his two comrades. Even though she was tearful, Masato could see how overjoyed Haruka was, and it was quite obvious Jinguji could as well. It was just a good thing to have him back, awake and aware.]

Likewise. You slack off enough.

[saxsongs]

[Ren smiled. It was probably the most genius smile he's had in ages. Of course he was this genuine when Utau was around, but now he could be like this with others as well.]

Hey now, even I couldn't stay away from my friends for that long.

[heartandsong]

[Her smile brightened up a bit at Jinguji's comment.]

What kind of dream was it?

[pianosongs]

[That odd smile had Masato actually smiling a bit himself. This was a nice feeling, just seeing Jinguji seem so happy and genuine, almost like a flashback to their childhood. He stayed silent and waited for the answer to Haruka's question, oddly curious himself.]

[saxsongs]

[A dream, huh? Ren scratched the back of his head a little.]

Well, it wasn't really a dream, but a view on the future. Basically, I went home to see what happens... and I can say that a lot of good things happen to us in the future.

[heartandsong]

[Haruka happily clapped her hands together at the information. It was good to know that everything was going well.]

I'm glad we're all still together in the future. I still don't know much, but I'm excited.

[pianosongs]

As am I. It sounds like everything is well, although I do wonder...

[Masato crossed his arms.] So during your slumber, you saw the future?

[saxsongs]

[If only you knew, both of you. If only you knew.]

Yeah, it's not uncommon around here. Sometimes people just fall asleep for weeks and go home to see what happened.

[heartandsong]

Oh wow...that's exciting. At least, for some of us. I've heard that some people come here in the middle of war! I hope that if they do go home and come back, they get some good news... [BECAUSE HARUKA WORRIES ABOUT OTHERS]

[pianosongs]

I imagine they can come and go in the middle of any point... [He thinks on this for a moment. This world is just far too strange sometimes.]

[saxsongs]

They can. Some are here after dying, after all... so anything could happen.

[heartandsong]

True! I think I'd get anxious after a while, though. Knowing I left something so unresolved even if time does stop.

[pianosongs]

Mm... But they're probably able to resolve it when they return home... if they're able.

[saxsongs]

If it's meant to happen, yeah.

[Though, speaking of unresolved things.]

Sorry, there's something I need to do now that I'm finally awake..

[heartandsong]

Something you need to do?

[pianosongs]

[Masato's already curious on what that something is, but he holds back his own questions.]

And you have to rush to do it? Jinguji, you just woke up.

[saxsongs]

I need to call her to know that I'm awake again. She must have been worried. [You know the her he's talking about.] Besides, I'm feeling fine.

[heartandsong]

O-oh....yes, that's right. She's probably very worried. [She nods]

I'm sorry, I should have thought about that.

[pianosongs]

[He nods.]

Go ahead and give her a call... We can give you some time.
