[Yes, true love is formed over epic explosions.

And man is Dist enjoying this. After everything they've been through the last couple of days, taking all that frustration out on this creature with his once-lost abilities is amazing. And despite not having his robots with him, he's managing just fine with what he's been given. Kato's mines are a nice conductor, for example.]

Oh, you don't need to tell me. I am well aware of how amazing my artes are.

[Wow, that is the smuggest look on his face right now.]

Of course I can.

[He extends an arm forward and a glowing red magic circle appears under his feet. A large, sinister smile spreads across his face, appearing even more sinister with the red glow from below. For once, he's absolutely gleeful.]

Fire at will, Kato. I will be right behind you.

holy shit Dist you actually are a wizard

He will quite happily allow you your moment of pure smug because um. that's honestly one of the coolest things he's seen in a while good god]

That's certainly one way of putting it...

[...right, time to get a grip - the air mines are primed and ready and he wants more explosions. Turning to Dist, he smirks.]

I'll concentrate this blast around its head; it could be a weak point. Let's give it a shot, shall we?

[Without breaking eye contact, Kato lovingly presses the trigger, smiling blissfully as the room is once again filled with the pure destructive power of his mines.]

[He's glad you approve. Oh so glad.]

I almost hope it's not a weak point. After everything it's done? It deserves at least a few more blasts if you ask me.

[That, and he honestly doesn't want this moment to end.

He return's Kato's blissful gaze as he launches his arte alongside Kato's exploding mines. If the explosion from the mines was large, Dist's arte only serves to make it twice as intense. The sheer magnitude of the blast briefly paralyzes the creature.

In the lull after the explosion, Dist can't help but chuckle. It's one of those excited but slightly unstable laughs. He brings a gloved hand to his forehead.]

My. I think I'm beginning to remember just how fun this sort of thing is. I see why you indulge in it often, Kato.

[He usually prefers not to needlessly destroy things, but he's certainly not against it. In fact, he's seeing the appeal here.

... What the hell is wrong with these two.]

[...Dist has he converted you to the Church of EXPLOSIONS AND DESTRUCTION HELL YEAH because you're giving him some seriously good vibes at the moment]

Isn't it wonderful?! Feel the energy in the air, the pure force of the reaction...it's so beautiful!

[Speaking of unstable laughs, allow the good doctor to release one of his own, throwing his head back and running his hands through his hair.]

I haven't been able to do this in so long...and to think, you're able to make my explosions greater...what a team we make!

[seriously we should be high-fiving or brofisting or something rn]

One more blast should finish it...let's make this next one our masterpiece!

[...perhaps a better question would be what isn't wrong with these two...]

[They're going to have to do some collabs in the lab when they return home now. Exploding robots or something, we can figure it out later.

Dist draws in a long, deep breath before letting out a pleased sigh.]

It truly is. It has been quite a treat to share this moment with you. I am honored to call you my partner, Kato.

[Normally that would feel really weird to say for Dist. He had committed himself to his seclusion because frankly, no one would pay attention to him or take him seriously. He convinced himself that he didn't need anyone. He could achieve greatness all on his own.

But you know what, this is greatness. He and Kato are making each other better by performing as a team. And he doesn't see anything wrong with that.

So...basically yeah, brofist/high five is necessary right now. Though Dist has no idea how to initiate that so they'll have to make do with making more beautiful explosions.]

Certainly! No one will ever outdo what we're about to create.

[Again, he summons the red circle, putting everything he can into making it exceptionally powerful. The extra effort combined with the energy put into the previous two artes begins to take its toll as he can feel a dizziness setting in, but he maintains his concentration. He cannot afford to let their masterpiece fall short, after all.]

Likewise, Dist. I shall treasure this beautiful moment.

[If Dist is feeling odd about all this partnership, he's certainly not alone. Why, the last person stupid enough to work with Kato ended up gleefully abandoned on a soon-to-be-exploding lunar energy plant! So what is it that makes Dist different, and gives birth to some strange non-abandoning compulsion?

Could it be because he's finally found someone equal to his level of crazy beauty and innovation? Back home, no one was worthy of being his servant, much less someone he considered a partner! But this...it's different. Different, but....nice.

and incredibly destructive. Which, really, is far more important!]

Get set.

[Kato doesn't mash the button hard this time, preferring to slowly press it down, closing his eyes blissfully as the familiar heat fills the room once more. Spreading his arms, he turns towards Dist and smiles.]

Go.

[ortion]

[With a snap of his fingers, a second explosion rips through the room, meshing with the first explosion to create an absolutely enormous sea of red and purple-ish flames. The colors create what a beautiful sunset would look like. The entire creature is engulfed, completely disappearing amongst the flames.

As Dist looks on, he turns and smiles wearily at Kato.]

It's...It's absolutely beautiful...

[And before he knows it, a powerful feeling of fatigue washes over him. The dizziness overtakes him, and he slumps to the ground while their masterpiece is still burning bright.]
