Love Like Wine
Who: Envy (
exeggutorhead) and France (
francia)
Where: Ecruteak City
When: February 14th
Summary: France buys scrapbooking supplies. Envy gets theatre tickets. It almost sounds like they've become responsible adults. Except these are the same two individuals who thought it was a good idea to use a Pupitar to jump rooftops. Take that as one will.
Rating: PG/PG-13
Log:
Aside from the frankly absurd and rather disturbing invasion of plasmodial slime molds, it's been a pretty normal day in Johto. France can't complain, although he's trying his resolute best not to think too much about spontaneous generation and all those things he had thought he'd left behind a century and a half ago. He's keeping a sharp eye out for the odd things because who knows with this place.
He's taken the day off work, mostly to hang around the Ecruteak Poké Mart for the order of paper, fabric, and book-binding materials that he'd ordered from both the Goldenrod and Celadon City Department Stores. When the order finally comes in the mid-afternoon, France ends his superficial but at least vaguely entertaining chat with the shopkeepers and sends Envy a text.
What're you up to right now? ;)

France sets about retying the packages of his order, a small, honest smile playing on his lips. Three years is a lot longer than he normally manages to maintain a relationship outside of those with other Nations and that isn't for business. It's deeply fulfilling and France treasures every moment of it. There are some days that France wakes up here where he still doesn't really believe any of this is happening. Envy is, in the most basic sense, the primary aspect of this world that makes life here not just bearable but enjoyable.
He looks up at the short chime of the Mart's door opening and moves quickly to accept the hug wholeheartedly. He presses a kiss to Envy's lips and rests his forehead against Envy's.
"Happy Valentine's Day."

"And to you, too. I brought you something."
He brings the arm that was behind his back around to hold it up next to them, but he doesn't pull back at all. He doesn't want to break the embrace just yet.

"Oh," he says, and Envy can probably tell from the way his eye brighten and his face softens a bit that France thinks it's very pretty. "It looks lovely already."
He motions with a small motion with his chin to the packages on the counter. "I got us a few things, too. Do you want to open them here or go somewhere a bit more private?"
no subject
"We should go back to the room."
Because while he's not uncomfortable being affectionate in front of strangers anymore, he still prefers to be more private about it. Besides, the middle of the Pokemart isn't the most romantic place for opening Valentine's gifts.
He walks close to France's side on the way back to the inn. He still sometimes can't quite believe that he's been so lucky here.
no subject
"Yes, of course. Just a moment."
He shifts the packages into his bag, the boundless space of the accessory easily accommodating them. Whatever technology of this place allows for that would be one of the first aspects France would elect to take back to his world after Envy.
He links his arm around Envy's elbow as they walk back to the inn, the smile on his lips fully reaching his eyes.
"Three years..." There's a clear note of nostalgia and an underlying one of wonder to his tone. "I feel so lucky to be able to have this anniversary with you."
no subject
"I love you."
This is even quieter than before, and he still gets flustered saying it even after all this time, feeling his face heating up, "So...let's still be here next year, so we can keep having these."
Nailed it.

France is happy, simply and utterly.
"I love you, too."
He stops them in the path, only a few paces from the Inn to kiss Envy, gently sweet. If there is a moment he would bottle and keep, it would be this.

After a lingering moment, he pulls back, smiling and tugging lightly at France's arm.
"Come on, let's keep going."
He wants to get back to the room so he can show affection properly without anyone else around to see.
no subject
"Mhm, yes, some privacy is called for, I suppose."
They come up to the Inn pretty quickly; after all, Ecruteak isn't a very large city. France pauses in the lobby to fish the key to their room out of his bag, glancing at Envy with a widening smile.
"Do you think we'll be going back out tonight, or are we getting a head start on a night in?"
no subject
France will find out soon enough, once they get up to the room. Once they're in, he puts an arm up around France's shoulders to kiss him again. Because yes, continuing that kiss from before takes precedence over presents.
