(no subject)

Who: Barney Stinson, Larry Butz, and Heather Mason
Where: Violet City
When: Forward dated to Thursday
Summary: An epic meeting. Barney and Larry encounter an exhausted Heather. Hilarity ensues.
Rating: PG (?) will change if necessary.
Log:
Barney stretched as he walked out of the inn, wondering what to do with himself that day. He was bored. While it was nice being in a city, he missed his friends, and was running out of things to do. He thought about trying out that pokemon trainer thing, but was reluctant to do so after that weird thing with those letter pokemon. So instead, he took to wandering around town, looking for something to do.

Perhaps, he'd head over to the pokemon center. Maybe he could help out, or actually get a job there. He was running low on funds after all. He sighed, truly missing his past life. He wanted nothing more than to go back to New York right now. This place was really not awesome.

A distraught Larry was also wandering around the city, having just left the Pokemon Center. It had been at least five days since he joined the search for Kay, and he still hadn't heard anything from her. He was beginning to wonder if she really was dead or something. Unbeknownst to him, however, Kay had already been found the day before, and Larry was too busy taking a much-needed nap when the announcement flooded the network.

"Man..." he thought aloud, "It's only been like three weeks and disaster strikes. This isn't fair." He sighed a moment after that, stretching his arms over his shoulders. Not even in the awesome Pokemon world would trouble leave him alone.

Kay had indeed been found. A little worse for the wear, sure, but alive, and that, at least in Heather's eyes, was nothing short of a miracle. Even if she'd had faith in the younger teen's indomitable fighting spirit, she... just wasn't used to things like that turning out for the best. And she'd been more than a little worried about what they would find.

So you'd think the success would relieve all her tensions and bring her back up to snuff, right?

.... Wrong.

Not because she was at all upset about the outcome of the rescue mission, but rather because... well. Her duties weren't over and after a whole year of more or less being a bit of a shut-in, she was now discovering that having real friends? Could be exhausting.

So a very bedraggled, very tired Heather is dragging herself back through town, pack slung over her shoulder.

There's shit that needs to be done, namely a nerd who needs some serious hugging and an egotistical clone who needs a kick in the pants, but first and foremost, Heather needs coffee.

So that is what she's looking for as she stumps down the street with her eyes half-shut and her usually-white vest turned rusty-red from all the clay-like dirt around the ruins. Violet City might not be huge, but there's gotta be at least one place where she can get a friggin' espresso...

What a coincidence, Larry happened to notice Heather as well. But unlike Barney, Larry just saw the young, relatively attractive girl as another chance to play nice guy. And hope that she would go with it.

So, coming out from a totally different angle than Barney, Larry approached the exhausted-looking girl, putting on his best "I'm totally awesome, you should totally think so too" face. "Hey, you look tired. Want a little help with that ba--" He began, but he was cut off in a sudden realization, "Hey, I know you! You're the one who... had an issue with my name or somethin'."

He was already regretting coming up to this girl. He just hoped he wouldn't get punched or something.

Yeeaaah, Heather wasn't exactly looking her best. What with the dirt and telltale signs of a scuffle. Luckily, she'd never been one to care a whole lot about what random people in the street thought of her, so even if Barney had started guffawing, she'd probably have just tiredly flipped him off and carried on with her search for caffeine.

But then something set off her personal-bubble alarm and she looked up as Larry approached, a little warily. Yeeeeaaah she'd seen that whole nice-guy thing before. Nuh uh. Not gonna work. ... Wait huh?

When he recognized her, she paused and lifted a slow brow, waiting for recognition to kick in. She was exhausted and therefore it was a bit slower than usu-- ... ohhhh.

".... Oh yeah. Butt, right?"

Heh. Butt.

... But she was too tired to even feel like engaging in some immature digs at the unfortunate name. So instead she just sort of stared up at him wearily with lidded eyes, hoping to dear god that this encounter would not end in something that would prevent her from getting her damn coffee.

Larry's entire intention from this conversation sort of fell apart when Heather finally responded to him. Usually he didn't let the name thing get to him (I.E. one time he got called Harry Butz), but that was mostly because he was feeling too suicidal at the time to even care. Even so, he decided to let it slide, because the girl had obviously been through a lot.

"Y-Yeah. But just call me Larry from now on, okay?" He finally choked out a response.

He was about to say something else when he got interrupted by Barney. He blinked at the other man, then awkwardly waved back. He already knew what this guy was trying to pull, but his voice sounded really familiar. Maybe it was the guy who scored with that nurse back in Cherrygrove?

But again, his thoughts were shattered by what Barney said. Memory jog, go!

"Oh right, you were looking for Kay too!" He suddenly blurted out, looking excited, "D-Did you manage to find her?!"

Okay, Heather was way too tired to be mean. That, and Larry hadn't honestly given her a reason to. Aside from having a name that was really easy to laugh at.

"All right. Larry then. So Larry, d'you know where I can find a decent cup of something caffeinat--"

A WILD BARNEY APPROACHED!

Heather didn't even try to prevent a groan, although she straightened up an pushed her hair out of her eyes, smirking a mirthless smirk.

"Yeah. Took some voodoo and one or two unholy resurrections, but I'm alive, yeah." Turning her head a little to look at Larry, she raised a brow. Hadn't the news gone out yet? ... Oh. Well, she supposed not. "Yeah, we found her. She's... safe."

Gaaah, sorry this is so late.

Larry let out a huge sigh of relief at the news. Well, there was a lot of weight off his shoulders.

"Well that's good to know. I thought I was gonna die of stress for a while there, and Larry doesn't do well livin' like that."

He turned and nodded at Barney. "Yeah! That's her." He rubbed the back of his head. "Yeah, I bet it would. She's not to beat up, is she?"

That last question was more focused at Heather, since she was in the actual group that found her.

WHY WAS THIS CONVERSATION HAPPENING

IT DID NOT INVOLVE COFFEE AND THEREFORE HAD NO REASON TO-- oh wait they were concerned about Kay. Well okay then. That was understandable. Rubbing her face distractedly, Heather made a vague hand gesture.

"Not... by the Unown, it was-- ... someone from Team Rocket. We think. I'm pretty sure, anyway. And uh... she's... she's doin' okay. She's at the Pokemon Center."

She had NOT been in good shape when they'd found her, but... then, she HAD been in a cave for like... a week.
