Firion needs to stop being so unobservant

Who: Firion and the Warrior of Light
Where: Route 32
When: Wednesday
Summary: Firion travels Route 32 to train Leila, his Arbok, because she is far lower in levels than the rest. However, an accidental provoking of a Qwilfish lands him into trouble.
Rating: PG for some blood, kudos to anyone who gets the joke in the Cut text~
Log:
He had never tried fishing before. It seemed like fun. So, with Leila at his side, Firion stood upon a boulder and a fishing line thrown into the water. As of late, he had been unsuccessful. However, the rod suddenly pulled down and he nearly fell off the rock. Grunting, he pulled hard, Leila even coiling her tail around Firion's waist to help pull the surprisingly strong Pokemon.

A Qwilfish burst through the water. "Leila, go! Use Acid!" Firion grunted.

Leila let go and moved to make the attack, but the Qwilfish was much faster and launched Toxic Spikes. It wasn't long before Leila was poisoned badly. She wasn't immune to poison despite being of the type. Firion quickly grabbed his Pokeball and called her back. The Qwilfish was still quite angry and just as Ricard was released, Firion felt the sting of the spikes hit him. He never thought the Pokemon would attack him but then again, it was a wild animal, so to speak, so why not?

His head began to spin, dizziness overtaking him and he fell to the hard ground of the boulder he was still own. Ricard gave a cry, batting the fish Pokemon away without getting stung himself to get to Firion. Eventually, the poison took affect and he fainted. Ricard nudged Firion multiple times before taking flight, set upon retrieving his friend.

Warrior of Light was some distance away. He had declined joining Firion in his fishing in favor of taking some time to train his pokemon. He had seen the wild pokemon get stronger as he continued along the routes toward Violet City, and he did not doubt that the trend would continue. He did not wish to constantly rely on Firion and his pokemon as protection, so he had taken to training his own whenever he could. With the way they acted, they needed the extra discipline, anyway.

He had just finished a battle with a Rattata and was calling the Wooper back to its pokeball when a Pidgeot swooped down from the sky toward him. He recognized it as Ricard only moments before it swooped down to land in front of him. "Ricard? Where is Firion?" He asked. Had the pokemon flown ahead while Firion joined him?

To have Ricard suddenly grab the hem of his shirt and start tugging so strongly on it was surprising, and he was pulled forward a few stumbling steps before he tried to get Ricard to let go of the fabric. He could follow without being pulled.

"Calm down, Ricard. I will follow," he said calmly.

At first, he followed Ricard easily, unconcerned about being fetched. It was only when he saw his friend lying on the ground, unconscious, that he became worried. As soon as he saw, he started to run, then quickly dropped to his knees at Firion's side. "Firion? Firion, wake up," he said quickly, as he gently removed the spikes that were stuck in Firion's arm and shoulder. There was no sign of a bump on his head, so there must have been some sort of poison on those spikes. That was not good, especially since the only potions he carried were the ones that were given to trainers to use on their pokemon. Hopefully the poison was only strong enough to have knocked Firion out.

He hadn't realized before that there could still be dangers in this world. Certainly the pokemon fought, but until now he had not known that they would attack people as well. It came as an unpleasant realization, and did nothing to alleviate his worry about his unconscious friend.

The groan was a mixture of reassuring and worrying, because while it was at least some movement and sign of life from Firion, the other man still hadn't woken up. Light almost followed Ricard's example by putting his hand on Firion's cheek, but he thought better of it and pulled away. Instead, he pulled back for a moment and went to the nearby water, taking a cloth and wetting it before returning to put it against Firion's forehead. It would be better than trying to shake Firion, when the warrior did not know how injured he was.

"Firion, wake up," he said once again, worriedly examining his friend.

He sighed in relief when Firion finally awoke, and sat back on his heels to give the other more space. Whatever poison had been on the spikes, it probably hadn't been that strong, for Firion to wake up again so quickly. He gave a small smile in response to Firion's own. "It is I," he said in response to Firion's murmured question. "Ricard led me here."

"What happened?" he asked, worry overcoming his relief. "Were you attacked?"

"Where is Leila, then?" he asked, frowning. The pokemon was nowhere in sight, and if she had been attacked, then she ought to be nearby and knocked out as well. And it must have been a very strong pokemon, for it to have taken down any of Firion's, as well as Firion himself.

"Then she's safe," Light said, with an approving nod, even though Firion had closed his eyes and probably wouldn't notice, but then, of course, Firion tried to get up.

Alarmed, Light pushed Firion back down to prevent him from rising. "You were poisoned as well," he said firmly as he did so. "I have potions, if she needs them, but I am more concerned for you. She is safe inside the pokeball, but you are still hurt."

[identity profile] for-cosmos.livejournal.com 2010-08-26 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Do you have an antidote yourself?" he asked pointedly, still keeping Firion down, to make sure that he didn't do anything else to his injuries. "If so, I will gladly give it to her. If not, then you will not do yourself or her any good by pushing yourself unnecessarily. You are not fine- you are weakened, and injured, and I will not allow you to hurt yourself further."

His expression remained firm for a moment longer before he sighed. "Firion, be reasonable."

Light stared pointedly at Firion for several moments longer before finally getting to his feet and allowing Firion to do the same. "Let us go, then," he said, looking to Firion. He wasn't about to argue when Firion was so clearly distraught, though he didn't really think that he would be able to make it to the pokemon center without at least stopping for rest. He would keep an eye on Firion to catch him if- or perhaps when- he fell.

Giving in the slightest bit, Light reached to help steady Firion when he put his hand to his head. He didn't want to be cold, not really, but when Firion was being stubborn, there wasn't much else he was sure that he could do. This wasn't like the battle with Sephiroth, after all. It wasn't as if the warrior could simply take over and let Firion rest. They both needed to get back to town, and the sooner, the better, but that would mean Firion pushing himself.

D= sorry...

Each time Firion stumbled, Light did his best to help steady him and keep him from falling, even though he shrugged it off and kept going each time. It was one of the most stubborn things he had ever seen the Weapons specialist do. He almost labeled it stupid, in his head, but he couldn't when Firion was so obviously worried about his pokemon. For the journey, he kept quiet, and simply offered his assistance. Later, once both pokemon and trainer were safe, there would be time to argue it.

He was just as relieved as Firion when they reached Violet City and the Pokemon Center. As soon as Firion got Leila back from the nurse, he began to suggest that they should find somewhere for Firion to rest when the other trainer fell. He stumbled backwards as he hit him, but managed to catch Firion before he hit the floor. For the moment, he ignored Nurse Joy's concern and offers of help in favor of checking for himself to make sure that his friend was all right.

Light shook off Nurse Joy's worries with a quick "he will be fine" when Firion fell asleep. After a moment, he shifted enough to actually pick Firion up and carry him. He only carried Firion as far as the nearest bench before settling down and waiting for the other to awaken. He combed his fingers idly through Firion's hair as he waited. Hopefully, it would not take too long.

Once he realized that Firion was awake, Light stopped playing with Firion's hair and put his hand to the side instead. "I carried you," he said in answer to the question. "Are you feeling better now?"

[identity profile] for-cosmos.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Still, it is an improvement. I am glad to hear it." Light said, before he stopped speaking to listen to Firion. He sighed as well, though it was more reflective than anything. "I was not angered," he said. "Please understand. I would not want for her to be hurt, but I have never seen one of these creatures hurt more than simply being knocked unconscious. They are resilient. You, however... I have seen you injured and close to death far too many times."
