you're far away from nothing
Who: Bertholt (
bertall) and Walter (
beholdmydemons)
Where: Ilex Treetop Forest Adventure Park (in Azalea)
When: March 20th (forward-dated)
Summary: Goofing off in style. With rope bridges. And ziplining.
Rating: G unless certain canon things come up idk
Log:
[In sleepy Azalea, it's hard to miss the advertising for what passing bits of excitement are commercially offered. Even if you're functionally illiterate. Especially if you're functionally illiterate - when the Pokemon Center gets in a stack of color brochures for the Ilex Treetop Adventure Park, the bright colors and photos stand out next to the muted, abstract flyers like a horse in a goat pen.
Walter spent a few days picking at the text on and off, then promptly went out and got one-day passes, because he's apparently the patron saint of fun shit around here and he is generous in his ways. Maybe a little too spontaneous, but generous.
...Anyways, check out this sweet grownup playground! Fastbird approves and is halfway up a climbing net. Walter is eying the zipline launch with a mixture of "I want to be there right now" and "But I'm not sure what to make of this". Go big or go home...?]

Bertholt would be lying if he said he didn't find Walter's reaction a little endearing. How many children had the same look when stories about the Scouting Legion would spread through the towns and villages?]
Nervous?

Hell no! [He fakes an affronted punch in the general direction of Bertholt's shoulder.] Not a nerve to be felt. It's going to be fun, and - hoy, don't break anything!
[Gertrude caws reassurance from where she's hanging by her feet under a rope bridge, and continues beak-over-talon towards whatever goal she has in mind.
...cough.] Anyhow, what's to be nervous about?
oh lordy I just noticed mobile tagging broke my tag up there to hell weeps
[He actually laughs, one hand going up to block the fake-out. Okay, okay! He gives, Walter!]
Honestly though? I don't know. I was nervous when I first started using the Maneuver Gear back home and that was a lot crazier-looking than 'zip-lining' looks. [He gives Gertrude a small grin. She's definitely having fun up there, isn't she?] But this seems safer.

And we're a sight older than that. There's no call to be all frightened now, eh? [Having said that, he can't be the last one to do it. Walter squares his shoulders and goes for the first rope ladder to the launch, giving a quick, challenging glance over his shoulder and wasting no time starting his ascent.]

At least Gertrude's in the lead, right?]

FFFFFFokay this is nothing like climbing an actual solid ladder. It's more like clinging to a fishing net, except the net is up in a tree and is holding your entire weight. Walter isn't worried that it won't continue to do so, but his balance is off and he slows down as the whole thing sways, scrambling to find a grip that keeps his weight evenly distributed.]
