did it just move
Who: Saionji
konpeitoqueen and Atsuro
babel_hacker
Where: Goldenrod City
When: May 1
Summary: Somehow, Saionji asked Atsuro to teach her how to cook. Things... happen.
Rating: Unless someone starts getting threatened with a knife... nah, nothing.
Log:
[Guess who's crashing the Goldenrod Inn? ...Again? Saionji's got a very conspicuous new haircut- her blonde twin tails have beenreduced trimmed down to a fluffy bob, which is pretty impressive, given the circumstances in which it was cut. She certainly went to a good hairstylist to salvage it...
Back to why she's here, though. After finalizing the arrangement after the disastrous circus trip sent her home earlier than she intended, Saionji was very much determined to attempt to forget as much about it as possible.
And move onto some important things... like learning how to cook.]
There you are, Big Bro Atsuro!
[For some reason, someone actually decided to help her with it, too. God save their soul.]

Well, I hope it doesn't look too terrible. I didn't have any say in it. [Funny, because if this was the Saionji that Atsuro first talked to ever, she would burst into tears for him 'making fun of her'. The change in thinking is noticeable even by Saionji herself... how alarming.
This whole lesson is going to teach her way more than just cooking.]
Anyway, Big Bro Atsuro! What's the most common things you cook on the road? I might need to know how to use the utensils correctly first, though.
['Might' need to know...?]
no subject
[He's almost expecting her to get annoyed and maybe even yell at him. Huh... did something happen, or she's growing up?]
But okay, food! That usually depends on what I bought before leaving. But I usually cook hot dogs, vegetables like potatoes, cornbreads and chilli.
['Might' need to know, huh...]
Since you're on the road, the utensils are usually pots, pans, skewers, wooden spoons, knives and stuff that's not hard to use.
no subject
[If you are she'll sock your face in 8)
In any case! She brings out the pots and pans at that- skewers... if she needs to, toothpicks will do.] Let's start with the easy things, then! Vegetables shouldn't be too hard, right? And I'd rather stay away from processed, packaged fast-food garbage like hot dogs.
no subject
[Okay, maybe he's buttering her up a little.]
And that's right, vegetables are the easiest to cook. You can wrap them up in foil and roast them, pan fry them in the pan or toss them into a pot for stews of chilli! Or you can just boil them in water, but I don't usually do that when I can use the water for something else.
[He reach out for the pans.]
I take it you don't know how to pan fry, right?
no subject
[Which means she'll learn it! She grabs the pan and some of the cooking oil- so she knows what pan frying is, but not how to do it- and walks over to Atsuro.] Let's start, then! Which vegetables would we cook? Radish, cabbage...
no subject
[And now he's going to look for the radish in the fridge. There's the vegetable drawer! He's going to take one out now.]
Before we can start the pan frying, we gotta prepare the ingredients first. For vegetables, that means peeling them if we need to, like carrots, washing them and cut them into smaller pieces. They'd cook faster if they're small pieces instead of big chunks.
no subject
[Legit questions, which way in slices or dices so many questions... she goes over to the sink and washes the radishes first, though. Mmm, yes, radishes are good.
wonder how the inn owner will react to them ruining all their food]no subject
[He takes one of the washed radish AND THEN HE SHOWS HER HOW TO CUT IT ON THE CUTTING BOARD.
Handwaving that cutting description because I'm not typing that]no subject
me too tbh]So we just pan fry it now? [She's taking the cooking oil- if Atsuro wants to ask her about something, the perfect time is when they're waiting for the whole thing to be fried...]
no subject
[He'll let her know when it's enough and then they wait for the oil to be heated.
...So, in the mean time.]
By the way, Saionji.
no subject
Hm? What is it? [By the way...?]
no subject
It's a little off topic, but did you apologise to that person yet?
[You know, that...Poolgate thing...]
no subject
I have. [Yep.] At the circus. You can ask her, if you don't believe me!
Then again, I can't police over whether she lies about it. [Saionji wouldn't be too surprised, honestly speaking, if Chihiro lied about Saionji refusing to apology in order to extort more from her. Chihiro's the one that everyone will listen to, anyway... it's kind what she expects.]
no subject
[Since Walter didn't know Chihiro's name, Atsuro's unaware that she's at the centre of the incident.]
But I'll be glad if you did. Since from what I heard, that stuff is where I personally draw the line.
[hi, middle school life...]
no subject
[Serious questions, by Saionji Hiyoko. Unfortunately, she is actual serious about that query. Because 'draw the line' is a rather aggressive word choice, isn't it?]
...And is the oil heated up enough?
[That too. The cooking thing.]
no subject
[Oh, the oil. He puts his hands up above the pan, feeling the temperature. Yep, just about right.]
You can feel the temperature like that. This is roughly when we want to put in the vegetables and start cooking.
no subject
[Being a bully herself, of course she's met people with strong distaste towards it.] But the vegetables, right? Do they all go in at once?
[HAHA TOO LATE there they all go into the pan.] ...Uwaaah, it's been so long since I smelled this with my own nose~! The stinks perpetuating my life for the past month is finally over!
[The stinks?]
no subject
[NEVERMIND. Okay, they can still salvage this! Judging from the sizzling sound, the oil's decently hot enough.]
Wait, what stink? [Now what are the things she described as stinks again?] Have you been eating fast food and takeouts for the past month?
no subject
Stinks of... the instant hot dogs at the supermarket, of course! I tried one, and the smell stayed with me for a whole month! It's just that greasy and terrible! You would think, it was a bag of shit from a fat man's backside...
[Yes, smooth, Saionji. Deflect with harsh words and a bullshit excuse. Watch your tongue, holy shit, stop being so fucking honest... it's as if she's regressing after Murderisland honed her senses again.] So, how long till the radish is done?
no subject
[You know, that cooked looking, lightly crunchy parts.]
Instant hot dogs, huh? I usually grab them off from the street stalls if I find any open. Maybe the ones you tried is just that bad!
[Atsuro's biased because he like his meat. Anyway, gently stirring the radishes and checking their undersides to see how cooked they are.]
no subject
This is actually going pretty well.]
Hmmm... it has just the right aroma now! Is it done?
[Hopefully, the rest of the lesson will go smoothly too! Maybe if Atsuro decides not to question Saionji's slightly obvious slip of tongue from before.]
no subject
It should be about done soon! Got the plates ready?
[Okay, he'll ask after they take the food out of the pan. It'd be safer.
Generally speaking.]
no subject
I have them ready! [SHE LOOKS SO PROUD OF HERSELF, TOO
LOOK ATSURO YOU'RE ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING RIGHT WITH YOUR LIFE]
no subject
Alright, here they go!
[While holding the pan, he tilts it so the radishes start to slide off and onto the plates. Woooooo~
Look at them, man. Not his best work, but they're still edible.]
And now they're ready to eat! They're best eaten while it's still freshly cooked.
no subject
You know what they say- when you put effort in them, they taste so much better. It's kinda true for now, because even though Saionji would be picking on the crunch not being right or something to that effect, she takes a trial bite and is totally fine with this.]
Waaah, when was the last time I tasted freshly cooked radishes? That wasn't from an overpriced, greasy restaurant... [When they're eating is also a good time to bug Saionji, Atsuro. Oh boy.]
no subject
Huh! So you have been eating at those types of restaurants?
[So he brought it up and watches her, eating one of the radishes slowly. Mmm, not bad! It's pan fried enough to make it tasty.]
no subject
[Munch munch.]
no subject
[Because hey, he does eat out if he doesn't want to cook up stuff.]
no subject
Atsuro's nice enough, too. Just like Big Bro Hinata, though... so plain, so normal. Except he apparently has demons? Huh.]
no subject
Alright! Just don't forget to practice what you learned today. [AKA DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY EATING OUT.] So they're...
[Listing a few places! They're mainly Western because man, he love a good steak. But there's also one Poke-Japanese place as well.]
no subject
She blanks out all that mentally. But yes, one Japanese place! Alright.]
I definitely will, Big Bro Atsuro! Teehee... thank you!
[WHAT'S THIS?! Your Social Link- no... no, wrong game. You got a Hope Shard- no, that's.. that's not possible here, too.
You... you just spent time with Saionji. Yeah.]
no subject
No problem! If you ever need anything or an answer, just ask and I'll see what I can do!
[atsuro no
no be reasonable about this
man, he's in the wrong desu, but let's pretend they just Fate'd up]
