Scar, meet the family.
Who: Scar
envy_the_sinners, Lust
a_sin_for_him, Envy
exeggutorhead, France
francia
Where: Violet City
When: May 17
Summary: Amostly chance meeting with a slightly strange group...
Rating: PG...? Will edit as necessary.
Log:
Scar had doubled back to Violet City in hopes of earning himself a badge. He could use the bigger winnings offered by the Pokémon gyms. His own "team," as they were called, had become stronger. He even had a Growlithe on his side, now. A fire type. Winning a battle with the leader shouldn't have been any trouble.
He'd been miserably wrong.
After a being flattened by the Violet leader, Scar was letting his exhausted team rest as he skulked around the city streets to cool down. Miriam, whom he rarely allowed to battle, was at his ankles, occasionally darting away or getting distracted as she tried to cheer up her surly trainer.

At least there's decent food here. Envy's a few steps behind France and Lust when he notices Scar out of the corner of his eye. It's not like the guy's hard to miss, being taller than most other people around. He stops walking for a moment out of surprise, before moving a little more quickly to catch up with the other two. He nudges Lust's arm lightly with one elbow and nods in Scar's direction, acting casual. He doesn't know if Scar's going to notice them at all, but he thinks she'd appreciate a warning if she hasn't already seen him.
"Hey. Over there, look."

France stop when he hears Envy speak and turns slightly to follow their gaze to Scar. He doesn't look like anyone France is familiar with, although that facial scar is quite visually shocking; he won't be forgetting that particular visage any time soon.
When France speaks, it's in an undertone, his demeanour deliberately settled into casual in case Scar turns their way. "Someone you know?"

Oh.
"He's from back home," Lust said quietly, looking away quickly and angling herself with her back to the Ishbalan. Would he even recognize her, dressed as she was and with her hair pulled up into a convenient tail? Of course he would. Not that it would be her her was recognizing.
"We spoke when I first arrived." But not since then. They'd promised to leave one another alone and they had. It was a big world, it was easy to put him mostly out of mind. But now he's right here and impossible to ignore.
She doesn't know what to tell France, in explanation of who Scar is. Or how Envy might attempt to explain.

Envy doesn't know what things wound up like between Scar and Lust back home, only that she'd helped him in Lior. But Lust clearly doesn't want to be spotted by him, which gives him a clue. He takes a half step to get between France and Scar's general direction, frowning. It's not something he thinks about as he's doing it, but he doesn't exactly trust Scar. He'd get in front of Lust too, if that wouldn't make him (and then all of them) really easy to see.
If Lust isn't quite so recognizable from the back, Envy is...well. Recognizable from pretty much any direction; he doesn't tie his hair back when he's not traveling.

He crosses the street to meet them, not taking any sort of cue that they don't wish to be spotted. His demeanor isn't exactly friendly, but there is nothing hostile in it, either. He sees no reason to be angry or uncomfortable with his brother's homunculus, at least not after everything that's happened. He's had a lot to think about over the past month. And... he'd rather know that she's at least been holding out all right.
"You found Envy, then?" Other than a sideways frown to Envy and... whoever it is that's with them, he almost completely ignores them.

He moves with Envy, letting Envy stay ahead but clearly keeping Envy's back. If that isn't a defensive manoeuvre, then France is a pineapple.

"He was the first person I spoke to, here," she answers when Scar addresses her. Neither one of them are big on greetings or small talk. "You two are already familiar with each other, so I won't bother with introductions. This is France, Envy's companion. France, this is Scar."
No qualifying there.

"Yeah, she did find me. We went to pick her up from Cherrygrove."
He's also wondering how this is going to go. It's not like he ever saw Scar and Lust in the same place back home. And if nothing else, this is a good opportunity to figure that out more. He leans slightly back against France; maybe that will help with the feeling left out.

"We've spoken," he says in regards to Envy, who doesn't seem too fond of being ignored, or of Scar's approaching at all. Too bad.
"What of the adjustment to your abilities?" There isn't anything backhanded intended in the question. He simply hadn't known about the change to a homunculus's nature when they first spoke, and... It can't possibly be anything but jarring.
He's well aware of what's changed and what hasn't, and he's had plenty of time to come to terms with it.

He wraps his arms around Envy's waist, leaning to whisper very low against his ear. It's a possessive posture.
"This is very charming, isn't it."
no subject
And now he's here, bearing down on her like a possessive guardian and excluding everything else around him. She can only imagine how it must look. Like a predator who's singled out exactly what it is he wants and cares for nothing else.
It would be flattering, if he wasn't doing it right in front of Envy and France.
"I'm fine. Envy came to get me immediately, he and France have been looking after whatever I need looked after." She lifts her chin some, almost defiantly. "Envy's been looking after me for as long as I can remember."

He still sounds annoyed, and that annoyance (and the frown and glare that go with it) is entirely directed at Scar. Who, while not being threatening, does seem to be making Lust uncomfortable. Which Envy doesn't like.
"And what do you care, anyway?"
no subject
"I was simply asking." He frowns at Lust, as if he has done nothing wrong and only asked her how she was faring. "I spoke with you when we first saw one another, did I not?" He's still addressing Envy.
