Who: Melfina, OPEN
Where: Just outside of Violet City
When: Midday
Summary: Gene's busy, Tofu the Spearow just evolved, and the eggs have all been claimed or have hatched. There's nothing for Melfina to do around the Ranch, so... time for a contemplative walk.
Rating: PG, PG-13 for possible emo undertones. ;|
"You're a bird, Tofu... Why don't you like to sing?"
The nearly 4-foot tall Fearow crowed out a defiant answer to her trainer as she selected a rocky gathering beneath a tree cluster, taking a seat in the shade to rest.
"Your new form is very beautiful." The pale-skilled bio-android reached out, cautiously stroking Tofu's long beak, which she opened and closed idly. "You can stretch your wings if you like. I will wait here, if that's alright."

Eventually with a sigh he gave up, supposing he'd see it eventually. Bringing his attention back to the path, he paused as he passed under a shadow. Ven paused and looked around, starting when he got a look at that huge bird.
"Whoa-" Pokémon sure got big. It took him a few moments to notice Melfina, but when he did, he waved. "Hey, Melfina!"
no subject
Not that she wasn't happy to see him.
"Roxas...? I didn't know you were still in Violet City."

"... It's just that ... you two look so similar. I hope I haven't offended you."

Relaxing a little, her right hand rubbing the bend of her left arm as she glanced up to the sky to check Tofu's distance. She could hear the bird, but she couldn't see it anymore... It was probably thoroughly enjoying itself.
"It is nice to meet you in person. How has your journey in Johto been so far?"
no subject
"It's been nice, this place is really peaceful compared to what I was in the middle of back home. How about you?"
no subject
No... that would be silly. The Ctarl-Ctarl, the Pirates... Jim wouldn't be able to handle all of that on his own. Even with Gilliam.
"... Then again," Melfina spoke softly, "Johto isn't very ... consistent ... for such a small region."

She pinched at the fabric of her sleeve thoughtfully, glancing at Ventus from time to time.
"... That's all."

At least... the ratio seemed balanced. Inconsistently balanced, but it was enough for her. After all, if it weren't for the chaos of Pancake's kidnapping, she would have never been able to meet the rest of her team at the Safari Zone. And Pancake came home in the end.
When her brown eyes opened, she was smiling.
"That makes sense. Thank you, Ven."

So it was that she was out with her usual bird on her shoulder and her usual Wooper in her muffler when she spotted the Fearow first. This consumed a good three minutes of blinking and wondering what it was, before she saw someone else. Now this one, she knew.
"Heeeey!" She called, cupping her hands around her mouth, and nearly startling Byrne into flight. "Melly!!"
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY \o\
Miss Kay?
Overhead, Tofu screamed her usual alert in mid-acrobatic stunt, beating her considerable wingspan to venture higher up -- probably to avoid being called down to socialize.
MELLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY /o/
"Hey," she said breathlessly, all smiles and happy that she could still feel that way. "It's good to see you!"
/FLOPS ON <3
"It's so good to see you, too!"
Of course, the hug was painfully brief. And she seemed just a little embarrassed for having done it at all.
"... You're looking well, Miss Kay."
And so was her Pokemon -- the one she could see, anyway.
<3<3
"Thanks," she said sincerely, releasing her friend and beaming. It was so nice to be told that, especially after everything that had happened, and if Melfina thought she looked well, maybe Crow and Johan would stop fussing and agree to head on the road again. "So are y--"
It was at that moment that her Wooper decided to play Jack-in-the-Box and poked her head out suddenly with a trill of "Woopa~!"
oh god the wooper xD
"... Goodness! What is that??"
she's very... special
As if to prove her point, the Wooper beamed somewhat vacantly at Melfina and bobbed her head in greeting.
I just realized that if Pancake transformed into a Wooper their faces would be EXACTLY THE SAME.
Perfect for such a, um... friendly Pokemon, she figured. Mimicking the gesture of the Pokemon, she nodded slightly in return. Might as well use body language that she would understand, right?
"... You definitely surprised me, Miss Flapper. She's very good at it, isn't she?"
HAHAHA that would be amazing.
"She is!" Now she beamed proudly, patting the Wooper's head, who was already chirruping at all the attention. "She's got a bucket to use while I'm working, and she got used to hiding at the bottom and then popping up to surprise customers when they came to the counter!"
Which was just plain hilarious, in Kay's honest opinion.
/throws a derp party for all of them.
... Although Gumdrop's intentions were probably just a little more malicious than Flapper's were. Tilting her head at the little water Pokemon adoringly, Melfina laced her fingers together and leaned forward a bit.
"The customers don't mind, do they...?"
no subject
"Um, Miss Melfina, right?"
no subject
... Well, it didn't matter. Tofu didn't like anybody.
"That's right... ... Have we met before?"
no subject

"... Hello, Miss Daisy. You're very pretty."
Knowing better than to reach out to pet another person's Pokemon when she hadn't been prompted to, she stood up straight and extended her hand to the Meowth's trainer instead.
"... I'm Melfina. It's very nice to meet you both."
no subject
Unable to curtsy while holding a Pokemon, she hesitantly shook Melfina's offered hand. "It's nice to meet you, too. Were you in the ranch? I was looking around there earlier."
no subject
With the handshake completed, she seemed very satisfied. What a sweet girl.
"Yes... A friend of mine and I are staying there for a while."

The thought was absolutely enchanting to a space-farer whose feet rarely saw the opportunity to walk upon true-blue soil with wild grass and non-artificial planet life. In the case of Melfina, that had only happened once or twice in her known memory bank.
"Oh. .... Yes. Gene and I both appeared in Johto together."

She gave a pointed glance to her feet in sheepishness. She hadn't meant to complicate things unnecessarily.
"I do agree with you... The people here in Johto have been immensely kind and helpful. Have you been traveling with company?"
no subject
Kirsten nodded at Melfina's question. "Oh, yes! They've all been very kind to me, even if I just slow them down."
no subject
No one should ever resent a parentless child for slowing them down -- That was her first thought, anyway. It was just awful that she didn't have any family from her home planet with her... and it reminded her of just how lost she would feel if she didn't have Gene.
"By the way... I hope you don't mind me asking. I'm only curious. Is Miss Daisy the only Pokemon you have with you?"
no subject

Kirsten sure seemed to have the right idea... That was such a simple, optimistic way of capsulizing what a Breeder's mission was.
"The Ranch is a wonderful place for us to operate from."

She glanced skyward, shielding her eyes from the sun's glare with the back of her hand. Tofu was still swooping about somewhere up there, but she'd probably come down to roost in another hour or so.
"...I just wish we had bigger facilities to accommodate as many Pokemon as we could ever possibly need. There's still plenty of room, but..."
... But there wouldn't always be.

His two companions rolling around in front of him, Johan couldn't help but notice the large bird up ahead - and the trainer with it.
"Melfina...?"
/ typed 'Hojan' at first ;_;
"... Johan?"
