Who: Melfina, OPEN
Where: Just outside of Violet City
When: Midday
Summary: Gene's busy, Tofu the Spearow just evolved, and the eggs have all been claimed or have hatched. There's nothing for Melfina to do around the Ranch, so... time for a contemplative walk.
Rating: PG, PG-13 for possible emo undertones. ;|

"You're a bird, Tofu... Why don't you like to sing?"

The nearly 4-foot tall Fearow crowed out a defiant answer to her trainer as she selected a rocky gathering beneath a tree cluster, taking a seat in the shade to rest.

"Your new form is very beautiful." The pale-skilled bio-android reached out, cautiously stroking Tofu's long beak, which she opened and closed idly. "You can stretch your wings if you like. I will wait here, if that's alright."

Ventus was on his way back from training, albeit at a dawdling pace. Skiploom had evolved into Jumpluff and the plant was latched onto his head as usual, which made getting a good look at it a clumsy task.

Eventually with a sigh he gave up, supposing he'd see it eventually. Bringing his attention back to the path, he paused as he passed under a shadow. Ven paused and looked around, starting when he got a look at that huge bird.

"Whoa-" Pokémon sure got big. It took him a few moments to notice Melfina, but when he did, he waved. "Hey, Melfina!"

[identity profile] freshbreeze.livejournal.com 2010-08-31 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Huh..?" Oh right, Ven had nearly forgotten about all that. Most of the people he had regular contact with seemed to have learned to differentiate between the two of them, but that didn't change the fact that they were identical. So Ven shook his head and explained, "Nah, I'm Ven! I did see Roxas in town the other day though."

[identity profile] freshbreeze.livejournal.com 2010-08-31 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Ven waved it off, smiling to reassure her he didn't feel at all slighted. "Don't worry about it! I think everybody's bound to mix us up at first. Most people met him before me, so I can't blame anybody for that."

[identity profile] freshbreeze.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
Ven followed her line of sight, but only saw the clear blue sky. Unsure what she was looking for, he shrugged and looked back to Melfina. "Nice to meet you face-to-face, too!" Truthfully, he still found the whole video communication thing rather strange.

"It's been nice, this place is really peaceful compared to what I was in the middle of back home. How about you?"

[identity profile] freshbreeze.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 11:55 am (UTC)(link)
Concern passed over Ven's features for a fleeting moment, thinking that Melfina seemed troubled by something. He wasn't yet sure if he should ask, shuffling his feet a little as he looked to their surroundings. "I can't say it's like any world I've ever been to, but...what do you mean by not being consistent?"

[identity profile] freshbreeze.livejournal.com 2010-09-09 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Ven pondered that for a few moments. "I guess...if everything was peaceful all the time, we wouldn't appreciate it as much. Maybe that's why things get crazy sometimes."

It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, the sky was clear, and Kay was attempting to build her stamina back to its normal levels. It wasn't the easiest feat to accomplish, but she prided herself on not being stuck in bed.

So it was that she was out with her usual bird on her shoulder and her usual Wooper in her muffler when she spotted the Fearow first. This consumed a good three minutes of blinking and wondering what it was, before she saw someone else. Now this one, she knew.

"Heeeey!" She called, cupping her hands around her mouth, and nearly startling Byrne into flight. "Melly!!"

MELLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY /o/

[identity profile] yattagarasu.livejournal.com 2010-08-31 07:29 am (UTC)(link)
Kay paused to regard the large bird with a bit of a pout - okay fine, DON'T say hi - but quickly dismissed it and picked up her pace to reach her friend. Flapper had burrowed further down in the muffler, either because she was sleepy (unlikely, though she was more active at night) or she felt like being playful.

"Hey," she said breathlessly, all smiles and happy that she could still feel that way. "It's good to see you!"

If anything, Kay seemed even happier that Melfina was comfortable enough to hug her at all, and very quickly reciprocated after she had pulled back. She didn't know enough girls who hugged back, oddly enough, but there was a distinct difference between Melfina's gentleness and the exuberance of either Johan or Juudai. She liked all hugs, though.

"Thanks," she said sincerely, releasing her friend and beaming. It was so nice to be told that, especially after everything that had happened, and if Melfina thought she looked well, maybe Crow and Johan would stop fussing and agree to head on the road again. "So are y--"

It was at that moment that her Wooper decided to play Jack-in-the-Box and poked her head out suddenly with a trill of "Woopa~!"

she's very... special

[identity profile] yattagarasu.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
"Huh? Oh." Kay's confused expression cleared within seconds; she'd gotten used to Flapper's antics ever since the Wooper had first thrown herself at her face in order to capture her attention. "I guess you never met Flapper-- she's my Wooper! And she kind of-- well, she really likes surprising people, but she's friendly."

As if to prove her point, the Wooper beamed somewhat vacantly at Melfina and bobbed her head in greeting.

HAHAHA that would be amazing.

Kay looked rueful for just a few seconds, still too embarrassed to admit that Flapper had been a total accident, when she'd been trying to remember the Wooper's name and accidentally registered her attempt as a name instead. But when the little thing had started displaying bird-like tendencies, she figured it had all worked out for the best anyway.

"She is!" Now she beamed proudly, patting the Wooper's head, who was already chirruping at all the attention. "She's got a bucket to use while I'm working, and she got used to hiding at the bottom and then popping up to surprise customers when they came to the counter!"

Which was just plain hilarious, in Kay's honest opinion.

Kirsten was wandering around cautiously, holding her Meowth in her arms and still wearing that blue dress. (She did have a change of clothes from the backpack, but while she was getting used to other girls wearing pants, she was still reluctant to do it herself.) It was getting hot, though, so the girl wandered over to the trees and waved.

"Um, Miss Melfina, right?"

[identity profile] beware-of-bears.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, I don't think I've really talked to you, but..." She looked away nervously. "I'm Kirsten Larson, miss, and this is Daisy." The Meowth yawned in response.

[identity profile] beware-of-bears.livejournal.com 2010-09-02 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Kirsten," she corrected before turning pink. "Ah, I'm sorry, miss. I didn't mean to!"

Unable to curtsy while holding a Pokemon, she hesitantly shook Melfina's offered hand. "It's nice to meet you, too. Were you in the ranch? I was looking around there earlier."

[identity profile] beware-of-bears.livejournal.com 2010-09-08 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
"I looked around there," she said. "It sort of reminds me of home -- of course, we didn't have Pokemon back home, but I lived on a farm. Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to go off track. If you don't mind, are you two friends from your home?"

[identity profile] beware-of-bears.livejournal.com 2010-09-08 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Organic?" Kirsten blinked. "I'm sorry. I don't know what that means..." She smiled up at Melfina nervously. "But it's good to have friends around. I wish someone I knew were here, but my new friends help me a lot, so I'm trying to be useful for them, too."

[identity profile] beware-of-bears.livejournal.com 2010-09-08 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, no, it's my fault." The younger girl looked away. "I don't speak very good English yet, and most people here know a lot more than I do about things like the machines they have here."

Kirsten nodded at Melfina's question. "Oh, yes! They've all been very kind to me, even if I just slow them down."

[identity profile] beware-of-bears.livejournal.com 2010-09-10 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Right now, yes," she answered sheepishly. "But I've decided from now on that I'm going to try and catch new ones that are harder to find. That will help everybody out, won't it?"

[identity profile] beware-of-bears.livejournal.com 2010-09-10 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am, miss." She nodded. "It looks like it would be. The Pokemon seem happy, don't they?"

Johan had been out attempting to get his baby Nidoran (who had either two names or none, Johan hadn't quite decided) used to some easier battles, with his Venonat there to help coach her-- Unfortunately, the little rabbit ended up playing with the overly-affectionate insect more than they looked for wild Pokemon to fight, which meant that training was... most likely off for the day.

His two companions rolling around in front of him, Johan couldn't help but notice the large bird up ahead - and the trainer with it.

"Melfina...?"
