7th Act - Boys and girls of every age

Summary: Just like always, the Circus is busy as usual... But with a bit of a spooky twist added on thanks to their current partnership with a certain Haunted House.

The Circus is always bustling with activity, even on the days when the shows in the Big Top aren't on. There's plenty of stalls to enjoy besides those, after all! Games, and food, and stalls with all sorts of interesting things for sale. For those living in Goldenrod or passing through, it's no doubt quickly settled itself as a regular scene.

On the 11th, however... Just as always when the shows are promised to happen, the Circus is more bustling than usual and today there's a twist. On the 11th, those walking past the Circus' gates will find themselves in QUITE the different atmosphere. Genuine spider webs are strung across the stalls, skulls strung up in them that seem to clack their teeth at passerby. legions of pumpkins are sprawled throughout the area. At night, and on the foggy day of the 13th, their eerie glow lights up twisting paths throughout the circus grounds. Even quite a few of the workers seem to have gotten into the spirit (possibly at their boss' badgering), and wear outfits from the simple masks to the more complex things.

Beyond the change in atmosphere, however, there are still the things that are usually about! Food, games, and stalls selling various knickknacks can all be found relatively easy although they're joined by a few other themed goods. There's also, of course, the show that will be playing three times a day in the big tent proper!

One notable addition is what appears to be a small station of sorts with a rather ominous carriage that stops at it every now and then pulled by what appear to be a pair of Rapidash... only colored darkly with bones painted across their heads and what might be actual skulls acting as face covers. Well then! Perhaps you might be interested in letting it take you to Jack's Haunted House?

So relax. Have fun! And cross your fingers that you're not terrified of scary clowns and giant spiders.

They might mind her when I'm not around to control her.

[Ilya looks remarkably serious now, her expression a deep frown, but she's thinking the idea over.]

I'm actually rather worried about what she'd do if she got separated from me. I never leave any of my Pokemon for long.

[pipers_son]

Well, a few a mine are nothin' ta sneeze at when it comes ta level and whatnot... and I have more than a few psychics who know how ta calm folks down.

I could introduce ya ta them, if that'd make the decision any easier.

[dressofheaven]

[She "hmmms" a bit to herself, mulling the idea over. She dislikes the idea of leaving any of her Pokemon for any length of time, but there's merit to the idea...]

Do you have any strong ice types?

[pipers_son]

I got Sapphire and Ace, they're a pair a decent level and the rest wouldn't leave 'em high and dry either if somethin' did happen. Want me ta have 'em fetched?

[dressofheaven]

Why not? I'm always happy to see some more of your Pokemon.

[pipers_son]

Right then! [He turns slightly, yelling off to the rest of the staff area.] OI! SOMEONE GET SAPH AND ACE!

[It takes a moment, but soon enough a Glaceon is racing over to Joker's feet while, at a slower pace, a Walrein is coming up behind. Ace the Glaceon is already taking tentative sniffs over in the Garchomp's direction.]

'ere they are.

[Ilya peers down with interest at the Glaceon, but it's the Walrein that really gets her attention. While Ace sniffs at Typhon and Typhon stares down at Ace as if trying to decide whether to growl or not, Ilya beams widely at Sapphire.]

Oh, a Walrein! How lovely, I have the unevolved version in my own team.

[pipers_son]

[Ace seems completely oblivious to the inherent danger of getting in the business of something that could probably eat him in one bit. His trainer doesn't seem much bothered either, just crouches down besides Sapphire and pats her on the head with a grin.]

Lovely, ain't they? And our Sapph is such a calm lass, don't think I've seen her lose her head yet.

[dressofheaven]

Iris is a sweetheart too. She's the only one of mine I haven't evolved just because she's so adorable as she is.

[She tilts her head at Sapphire and her expression turns thoughtful for a moment.]

Though now that I see Sapphire here... maybe that wouldn't change.

[Typhon, meanwhile, is leaning in close enough to get a good strong whiff of Ace, which causes her to yank her head back a bit and grunt. How can something smell so cold?]

[pipers_son]

Well, I 'aven't found a Pokemon I haven't liked yet, heh, but Sapph's lot seem ta be sweethearts so far.

[He's keeping an eye on Ace as he talks, watching as the little Glaceon fearlessly leans in closer to sniff back before getting closer to place a paw on one of those large claws. Someone has neglected to teach this Pokemon that you shouldn't poke things that are much larger than you with sharper teeth. Whups.]

[dressofheaven]

[Unfortunately, Typhon is very temperature sensitive and Ace is very cold. The claw is better than some other places he could have touched, but she still feels that, and yanks her claw back immediately, shrieking. Ilya turns to her immediately.]

Typhon, calm down! He's not going to hurt you!

[Typhon responds with a quieter cry, turning to Ilya with distressed eyes. But he's so cold.]

Yes, yes, I know he must feel chilly to you, but that wasn't an attack. You can put up with a bit of coolness you overgrown baby.

[Typhon's response to that is more a plaintive chirp than anything else, but she drops out of her aggressive posture.]

[pipers_son]

[The dragon made a funny noise. Fortunately, before Ace can give chase, Sapphire very patiently flops one large flipper onto him and keeps him in place. Joker sighs.]

Unholy little terror, sometimes, I swear. And as for yerself- [He speaks directly to Typhon.] -would ya really want ta pick a fight with somethin' that just feels that cold from their little paw? Best just ta ask the little pest real polite if he can stop invadin' yer business.

[dressofheaven]

[Typhon's response to that is to glare silently at Joker for a few seconds, then turn that same glare on Ace, who she has decided is an obnoxious little beast that she really wants to punt, but doesn't want to get too close to.]

And I forbid you to use Fire Fang on him.

[Ilya's command proceeds to short-circuit the poor dragon, and she flops to the ground to sulk. Ilya sighs.]

She'll be pouting for a few minutes while she makes up her mind. Best to let her be.

[pipers_son]

[Joker and Ace both seem to blatantly ignore the glare- they've both gotten their fair share of worst, god only knew.]

Well, the break'll do me and my lot good, so we can spare a lil' time for waitin'.

[dressofheaven]

We appreciate your patience.

[Typhon just huffs while Ilya gives a smile that's clearly meant to tease her, and is just as clearly working.]

So, I've yet to see these two in the acts. Did I just miss them, or do they not have roles yet?

[pipers_son]

I have some things planned for the future, but for right now, they help with some a my troupe in the back. Especially with all the fire that was goin' on for today's show, some a the Pokemon are feelin' the heat!

[Sapphire gives a low agreeing rumble, nodding her head.]

[dressofheaven]

I imagine they all could do with a little cooling down, yes.

[She chuckles a bit and reaches out to pet Sapphire's head.]

[pipers_son]

[Sapphire leans into Ilya's palm, even chillier than the fall air already is.]

Imagine it won't be too much of a problem as we head inta the winter days... At least if they ain't as strange as the rest a the year has been.

[dressofheaven]

[She pulls back her hand long enough to put on an immaculate white glove, then goes back to petting.]

Don't jinx us now. In this world, who knows what might happen.

[pipers_son]

Ta be perfectly honest? I think someone jinxed us a long while ago with all the strange happenin's a late.

[dressofheaven]

Oh I'm sure there's a reason for it.

The reason might not make much sense once we figure it out, mind, but I'm sure there is one.

[pipers_son]

If only we could be blessed for a normal year, eh?

[He hasn't even been here for a year himself, but oh he's heard stories.]

[dressofheaven]

I'm pretty sure if that actually happened, it'd wind up being boring.

[Ilya you have a strange definition of what counts as "exciting".]

[pipers_son]

Now, I'm hurt! Are ya sayin' that I couldn't liven things up?

[The grin on his face is teasing.]

[dressofheaven]

Not on your own, you couldn't! You need the rest of us.

[And her own grin could be described as mischievous.]
