[Although less than half of Shaun's life by this point was spent in Philadelphia, being acclimated to those winters since he was an infant certainly helps.

As does having a gigantic firedog, honestly.

Blaze recognizes Chihiro before Shaun even sees him, excited at the sight of his fellow Arcanine and his trainer's friend, and he gives a happy yip of greeting, bounding forward so suddenly that Shaun has to adjust his grip to keep from falling off. He laughs.]

Blaze, come on, calm down, buddy!

[And then he sees who the other Arcanine's trainer is, and his expression lights up in recognition.]

Chihiro!

[Hogosha's ears prick at the sound of the sudden yip, but thankfully he knows better than to move too much, lest he jostle Chihiro off. Not like he has much to worry about, since he's hanging on like a koala anyway.]

H-huh?

[He shivers, peeking over the top of the Arcanine's head at the one approaching, carrying someone he still doesn't recognize. They clearly recognize him, though, by the way they said his name.

...then he gets a closer look at Blaze, but it's the Floatzel that really cinches it for him and causes him to gasp. He wants to ask if it's him, but...how? He just spoke to him not long ago, this can't be possible...]

[Susie bounces up to Hogosha, still pretty spry after over ten years. There's something about the Floatzel that seems older, but nowhere near an old lady. She gives a cheerful Floa! in greeting, raising a friendly paw to wave at Chihiro. Blaze stops and sniffs Hogosha, recognizing the smell of his friend but not quite at the same time. Shaun has a practiced balance, swaying appropriately to stay seated on Blaze's back.]

You look like you're freezing, are you okay?

[He starts, shaking his head a little. He's okay, but...he's very confused. Suddenly the cold isn't the priority, here.]

Is that...really you, Shaun-kun?

[Shaun blinks for a minute, before beaming.]

Oh, yeah, it's me. I guess you wouldn't be as used to this yet, huh? Weird stuff always happens this time of year.

It kind of sounds like something out of a bad movie, right? Time travelers and stuff.

[Well now that he knows for sure that this is indeed Shaun, he smiles as well. Though for some reason he feels a little...shy, still peeking over the top of his Arcanine's head.]

[Well, Shaun is a lot taller now. But he's so used to the slightly more confident Chihiro of years in the future that he doesn't notice the extra shyness, since he remembers that Chihiro used to be much shyer.

He rubs his chin, scratching his beard sheepishly.]

Yeah, I guess I did.
