He glances slowly down at the Torchick still at his feet, his gaze narrowing a bit.]

So why did I end up with this tiny thing? That's hardly fair.

[Suddenly interested, apparently, though he really doesn't plan on indulging in dog fights or whatever these people do. ...but still, how is that even fair.]

How should I know? No one gets to decide what they start off with.

[That prompts Roman to glance down at the bird, who was already watching him and lets out a little peep in greeting when his gaze meets hers for the first time in a while. He sighs through his nose, pushing her back again slightly with the end of his cane when she tries to get up close to his ankle.]

The powers that be were kind enough to give me something to compliment my outfit, at least.

[And there a slight smirk appears as he brushes off the weirdness of it all with a laugh under his breath, shaking his head as he looks back up at the stranger.]

[Yeah...Rideaux will give this guy that fact, it matches a little bit. But that doesn't mean Slasher clashes with his own outfit!!

He crosses his arms, glancing down at his Zangoose to lower his claws for the time being. Guess that battle's not going to happen then...? Well that's boring.]

Around three months. Not much compared to some others here, but enough to know the gist of things by now.

[Well it wouldn't last very long, namely because Roman would have no idea what the heck he was doing. Clearly, that should make him an even better candidate for possible battling.]

Alright. So, place has monsters, populace takes the monsters and fights with them for sport. Is that about it?

[Royally trouncing someone can be just as fun as an even battle! At least, in Rideaux's opinion.]

That's the basic idea, yes, but that's not all they do with the monsters. They also breed them for sport. You can enjoy the experience of purchasing an egg and having a cat hatch from it. How lucky, right?
