Stuck in Rock Tunnel...
Who: Scar and Envy
Where: The deeeepest depths of Rock Tunnel
When: Right as Fourth Wall ends
Summary: Scar and Envy were spat out in a dark cave by Fourth Wall Shenanigans... Now they have to work together to get out.
Rating: Starting at PG-13for Envy
Log:
Scar knows that it's high time for this miserable weekend to come to an end, but he has no idea just how inconveniently it's going to do so. One minute, he's in Goldenrod in broad daylight. The next, he can't see a damn thing.
He stumbles, dirt and rocks crunching under his feet indicating that he's in a tunnel. But where? Is he alone?
How is he supposed to get out?

None of the caves he's been in have been this dark, though.
He shuffles along the floor, trying to find a wall. Which is when he hears the sound of stumbling. He really hopes that's a person and not some pissed off wild Pokemon. He also really hopes that if it is, it's not an upside-down faced Bidoof.
"Hey! Who's there?"
no subject
"Scar."
no subject
He lets out an annoyed mutter of 'are you fucking serious' that Scar can probably make out just fine. Of all the people...why couldn't it have been France or Lust or even Henry again?
"Well, fantastic. Do you have a flashlight?"
His tone is biting and frustrated. He doesn't like this situation and he doesn't want to be in it alone with Scar, especially not after what happened over the weekend. He yanks his bag off his shoulders to rummage through it, hoping that he's got his own light with him. But who knows, after these weekends?

He pointedly ignores Envy as he begins to make his way through the tunnel in silence. The sooner he gets out, the better. To hell with Envy.

And after what happened during the weekend, what he can remember of his encounter with Dante...he doesn't like the idea of being alone in the pitch-dark underground. Really doesn't like it. He has his Pokemon, but it's not quite the same thing as another person.
Even if that person is someone he'd really rather not be around. He's unusually quiet for a while as they walk, but eventually he can't stand quiet any more. He doesn't want to think anymore about what's been racing around and around and building in his head.
"Are you going to stay quiet the entire time?"
Because little digs are an easy, automatic thing that he doesn't have to think about.

He continued forward, frowning as the ground started to tilt down. They didn't want to go down.

"This can't be the right way. This is going to lead deeper in."

But as Scar keeps walking away with the light, he starts following again.
"Are you serious? This is the wrong way!"

That's darkly muttered as Envy pulls out his 'Gear, jabbing at the buttons to pull up his map. Useful? He can act useful to just about anyone, even people he doesn't like, if he has to be. And this situation counts as 'has to be'. But oh, does he not like it.
"Great, we're all the way on the farthest side of Kanto. Rock Tunnel, very descriptive name there."
He should probably call someone, France or Lust, to let them know where he is and what's going on. But he doesn't get the chance for that before there's a loud noise of rock grinding against rock. It's coming from back the way they came, and whatever it is sounds big.
Grooooahhh!
Yeah, that sure does sound like an unhappy, territorial Onix coming their way.
no subject
But the thought doesn't even have a chance to leave his mouth before the thunderous growl of an Onix sounds out in the cavern. No choice, now. Glancing only briefly back the way they came, Scar starts off down the tunnel at a sprint.
Taking the light with him.

But neither of them is as fast as a giant rock-snake in its home cave.
It roars again, from right behind them. Fortunately, like most Pokemon, it's not looking to hurt the tiny humans. Just to get them the hell out of its part of the tunnel. So it doesn't mow them down…but it doesn't stop chasing either.
There's a reason why its territory stops at a certain part of the tunnel, though, and that's because it abruptly gets much smaller. Too small for the Onix to fit…but it was going too fast, and with a CRASH its head gets stuck. Envy looks over his shoulder, letting out a breathless laugh of relief that it can't chase them anymore. He's breathing hard; he's not an endurance runner, he's a sprinter.
"Ha, stupid thing can't fit through here!"
But it can thrash like nobody's business, trying to get its head loose and smashing its tail against the walls. Envy doesn't notice the cracks running along the ceiling and walls of the tunnel, he's focused on the Onix.

Not that he's ever relaxed about anything, but there has to be some point of comparison.
If it were anyone else, he would have urged them to keep moving, but the instinct just isn't there, for Envy. Instead, Scar just takes off down the tunnel once again, trying to make it out of any potential cave-in zone. It's too little too late. First, the walls give, then with the thundering of collapsing rock, the floor gives out beneath them.

He can't see anything. Where's the light?
Could Scar have died in the fall and teleported to the closest Center? It would figure if that asshole had and left him alone in the dark. He coughs on the dust as his lungs start to work again.
"Hey! Scar!"
no subject
It's when he moves his right leg even a hair that he notices a shooting agony straight up past his knee. Scar grunts against the pain as the rocks settle around them. He's been hurt enough to recognize when something is more than just a bruise.
He says nothing to Envy. His flashlight landed a few feet next to him.
no subject
He stays down for a little bit longer, waiting until all the fallen rocks have settled. At least that's what he's telling himself. When he does push himself up, it's with a pained hiss. Everything hurts, and he's going to have a fascinating variety of bruises. But all his limbs seem to be in order, which is something.
He wonders why Scar is still down. Now that he's up, he can see where the flashlight beam is coming from, and walks over with as small of a limp as he can manage. He doesn't want to look weak, not in front of Scar. When he gets there, he reaches down for the light, and if Scar doesn't stop him, will pick it up and shine it over the other man, muttering.
"You'd better not be fucking unconscious."
no subject
At least he didn't hit his head, this time.
"Give me the light," the growled, not caring about Envy's state.
no subject
He's pretty sure that Scar would ditch him given half the chance, and there's no immediately useful reason for Envy to hand it over that he can see. Something's clearly wrong with Scar, he can tell without it being said. Envy's good at telling when people are in pain, and he should have gotten up by now besides.
Well, if he wants the light back, he can get up and take it back. But since he's not dead and doesn't seem to be dying, Envy's just fine with letting him sit there in whatever pain he's in. Turning, he shines the beam up the nearest side of the pit they've fallen in. It's not sheer, but it's steep, and the walls are high. He breathes a few more creative curses under his breath.
no subject
He at least wants to be able to check the damage, if he can see any.
no subject
No. Hell no.
"Let's get this straight. I'll make myself useful until we're out of here, but you are not my master."
"What do you need the light for that I can't use it for? Give me a good reason, and you can have it."
no subject
"To look over myself." He stands up, remarkably sturdy for a man who's just broken his leg. He's shaken off worse. He just doesn't like the idea of Envy towering over him.
"It is my light. Give it here."
no subject
He flicks the light up and down Scar now that he's standing, narrowing his eyes when he sees that one of the man's legs is...not quite right. The kind of not quite right that usually means broken.
And yet he's standing up. What the hell, Scar.
But at least Envy can feel fairly secure that he won't be scrambling up out of the pit with the light. Not without help. So while it is extremely tempting to keep the thing anyway, he holds it out for Scar to take.
"Something to do with why you didn't get up right away?"
It's clear from his tone that he knows very well that's the reason.
no subject
He shifts upright and looks up the way they came with a frown.
"Don't pull any rocks loose. You'll cause an avalanche." He begins to make his way up the flatter bottom of the rubble pile, squinting against the pain and taking very uneven steps.
no subject
"I know how to climb. You're the one with the busted leg, if anyone's going to cause an avalanche it's you."
He follows to where Scar's climbing, and starts up the pile with ease, giving in to the petty desire to climb faster and get ahead.
no subject
Scar winces as he tests his leg again. This is going to be a matter of upper body strength, he can already tell.
no subject
There's definitely some mocking in his voice. Envy pulls himself up the rocks, but once he's past the first of the slope, it gets steeper quick. And the rocks are still loose from the cave-in, shifting underneath his grip. He gets a little ways past where Scar is before stopping and looking back. He'll wait and see how far Scar will even be able to get; if Scar falls, he doesn't want to have to climb too far back down to get him.
no subject
He chooses to ignore Envy as he struggles his way toward the next incline.
no subject
And if he does make it, it's going to take forever.
So Envy sighs, resigned, and climbs over closer to where Scar is.
"You're going to need help."

The next ledge Scar grabs isn't quite so sturdy as the last one, and with a cracking crunch of shifting rock, it tilts loose. Envy's not sure if Scar will fall, but he reacts anyway, reaching and grabbing tightly onto the fabric of the man's jacket. His other arm, he uses to hold onto the rocks on his side.
He does not want to have to climb up this again.
