Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[If anything can get Ash to get up so early in the morning with a bright smile on his face, those jets are it. They're not nearly as advanced as the ones found in his world, of course, but after over two years he'll take what he can get. Especially if what he can get has interesting controls to look at.

It doesn't take long before the crew start keeping an eye on him, offering glares every time he tries to approch the cabin. Spoilsports.]

Hologram demonstration; December 31st, 11:30 PM - 11:59 PM

[While most people would surely look upon the demonstration with wonder in their eyes, Ash looks... unsettled, perhaps? There's a slight frown on his face, and once in a while he mutters a few words, perhaps louder than he intends.]

Pool; January 1st, 8:00 AM - 10:30 AM

[Thursday morning sees Captain Ash at the pool area, and not just sitting with a drink either. His technique is somewhat amateurish, and rusty to boot, but it serves him well enough as he swims a few laps between stretches. Those faded but alarming scars covering his limbs, back and torso, however...]

[What self-respecting pirate wouldn't spend most of his time in such a fancy hotel exploring every nook and cranny for potential loot?

...Oh well, it's not as if the pirate thing was his first carrer option. But even if he's not looking for loot, he can still be found all over the place, generally having a good time.]

Apparently, asking politely for a quick look does not compensate for 'looking suspicious'. Whatever they mean by that.

There's a first time for everything, right? It's too bad we can't hop on one of these to travel between Johto and Kanto, though.

No kidding! It's a shame that we don't...I'd probably be taking trips on them all the time if we did!

[Veronica's question snaps Ash out of a new bout of muttering, mostly because he recognizes her voice. He turns to look at her.]

...It's nothing. I was just... wondering if these can do as much as the holograms the Vagans use in my world, that's all.

[He's still frowning and a little distracted, though.]

You have holograms in your world? [That was very interesting to her. Mostly because Veronica was secretly a bit of a sci-fi fan.

She frowns.]

There's nothing like this in my world. None of our technology is this advanced.

Holograms are too advanced for Earth in my world, too. But the Vagans have them; holograms taller than skyscrapers, that can be transmitted between Mars and Earth at will.

[Not that they ever mean good news.]

In any machine that can be built and piloted. I greatly favor mobile suits, actually, but since they don't have any of those I'll take what I can get.

...Holograms tend to be associated with bad news, where I come from. Mostly because only one side of the war has them.

It's pretty obvious, but it usually depends on who's using them. I can see holograms being used for communications and showing models here.

I have to say I'd rather see them used to display models of future mobile suits than to declare attacks on cities. I wonder if this means they'll be used in Johto and Kanto soon?

[There has to be a reson why they were shown this, after all.]

I hope so! They have to be really confident in their technology to showcase it like this. Otherwise, why bother if they're not on track with the development?

...Being a pirate who bumps into a thief doing exactly the same thing.

Presumably they're somewhere with valuables at this point, so probably the Upscale Gift Shop, and "bumps into" in this case is a term synonymous with "accidentally slams right into with little regard for personal space".

[What do? Well, stepping back with a little 'whoa' sounds like a good first step. If by stepping back we mean 'almost stumbling into a very nice display case containing an even nicer necklace'.

In his defense, he was too busy pondering if said necklace would be a good souvenir for a pretty woman he knows to see Parker coming.]

Careful there! If we make any of these fall down, they'll have us picking up glass shards with our bare hands.

[It's really a good thing that she's distracted by all the shiny things around them right now, because under normal circumstances her reflex to bumping someone is to instinctively steal everything in their pockets, and that would just be awkward.]

It's alright. They... could space their displays out a little more, I guess. Give us poor tourists more room to crowd around and stare at souvenirs we can't afford.
