Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[My, if he'd reacted like that back when etiquette was first drilled in his head, he'd have been grounded for years. Is he supposed to be saddened by the state of today's youth, or jealous that they can get away with that much?]

...I suppose it matters little if you do not particularly care about such events, even if it would be a shame to waste future opportunities to learn more about this world beyond Johto and Kanto.

We do have an excellent view of the city from the observatory. If only one of the locals was willing to tell us more about its landmarks, or even to give us a tour...

...I'd not be surprised if certain members of Team Rocket had such plans, to be truthful. But you'd think they'd be willing to risk it for an increase in tourism revenue.

[Not that they're getting much revenue at the moment, thanks to those paid hotel cards.]

Right? 'sides, if Team Rocket tried something, all we'd have to do is just kick their asses. 'S'not like it'd be the first time us foreigners had to take care of the bad guys.

[Which almost makes the treatment from the natives even more infuriating than it is to begin with. Look, he's not saying they deserve special treatment or anything, but the people in charge here could at least let the people who helped save the fucking world a couple months ago walk around outside a little instead of just cooping them up in the hotel for two days. Seriously, who the hell even does that?]

Far from it. The locals should be ready for an invasion of exploding snowflakes by now, or at least for a few level five Combees, but we still had to take care of most of those as recently as this month.

[Which... doesn't quite makes sense, if he thinks too much about it. Where are their high-levelled trainers? The ones that obtained their badges years before any foreigner, the ones that should have boxes full of level 100 Pokémon by now?]

Oh yeah, the exploding snowflakes! I heard about those. Where was that, in Kanto?

[It is still so weird to him that that region's called "Kanto".]

In Celadon, yes. They were too weak to stand up to high-levelled Pokémon, but they still managed to damage the city. All that yard work, ruined...

[His poor, poor yard. It only wanted to be left alone.]

[... geez, he sure seems bent out of shape. Naturally, Yusuke's response is to snort out a laugh.]

What happened, they blow up your flowerbeds or something?

Most of my grass, half of my pond, two tree saplings, and and all of my non-Ghost-types caught in September.

... oh, what, nothing? C'mon. It was a joke!

[Sheesh. Yusuke rolls his eyes, the cheeky grin he'd been wearing on his face fading. Some people are so touchy. (Or maybe Yusuke just isn't funny. Nah, it couldn't be that.)]

It would have been a better joke had poor Squall and Eblan not been knocked unconscious while trying to shield their teamates, or had Mysidia not been thrown against the house's wall.

[... oof. Yusuke cringes. Okay, now he kind of feels bad. Being the sort of guy he is, though, he's not going to directly admit to that; instead, he's just gonna scratch the side of his neck, glance away awkwardly and say:]

Yeah, well... they're all right now, right?

They were well enough to pout when I pointed out that I could not bring them all here, which is surely a good sign.
