Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[Chihiro turns his attention back to the couples on the dance floor, reaching up to brush back a lock of his hair with a thoughtful hum in the back of his throat.]

Mm...I suppose they do. Though I don't think all of them do...right?

Right! ... It would be an asshole move if only people who could dance fancy stuff were allowed out there.

[Rin crosses his arms, trying hard not to pay too close attention to Chihiro's minute actions.]

Mhm. Though...from what I've seen, there are some pretty good dancers here.

[He points towards a particular group of super coordinated people. They look almost like dancers from a flash mob to him.]

...This isn't the only sort of dancing you've seen, is it?

Well...other than at the prom that was held a few months back, I haven't really seen much else, no.

Huh.

[He really wants to ask about the prom since he wasn't around for that but... n-nah. That would be lame.]

Then you gotta see other types of dancing! It's about having fun and lettin' loose! Y'know, like break dancing!

[Hey, Chihiro wouldn't mind telling him about it! ...well. About...some things, anyway.

[Once he feels less likely to seem lame in front the pretty-dress-wearing person, then maybe...

Now he gives Chihiro his full attention and a skeptical look.]

You don't know what break dancing is?

Ah, well...I've heard of it, but I can't say I've actually seen someone break dance...in person, before.

[And he feels like that's sortof a thing you have to see to experience properly.]

Seriously? Not even on a dance show or in an alley?

[No, Rin, Chihiro is not a juvenile delinquent like you.]

...Man, it would have been cool if I could show you some kickass moves!

[He grumbles and slumps even more against the walk behind him. Jeez, he want to at least show Chihiro something.]

...Does that mean you're saying that you know how to break dance, Okumura-san?

[He wishes...]

No... B-But if I could, I'd definitely show you some of the cooler moves! There's this one where the dancer drops to the ground and spins - and another with a kick to the air!!

[The thought of that causes him to giggle softly.]

That does sound interesting...though I can imagine it is probably very hard.

It's gotta be if they have to practice all time just to get it right!

[He's not sure what he did to make Chihiro giggle, but it's got him smiling a lot more.]

I'm not much of a dancer myself...

I see...well, that's okay too. After all, watching can be just as enjoyable as dancing yourself.

[Good job, Rin, you managed to bring the conversation full circle...]

Y-Yeah...

[He seriously considers not saying anything for five whole seconds.]

...but even if I can't dance, it doesn't mean I wouldn't give it a try.

[Chihiro nods a little, his hands lowering to play with the edge of his skirt.]

Mhm. Same here.

[He's only tried asking twice before. The first time he was flat out rejected. The second time was more of a way to cheer up his brother and didn't really count. Rin takes a deep breath, cheeks ablaze.]

You ... You wanna try?

[Chihiro looks back over at Rin very briefly before glancing back down, shifting from one foot to the other.]

We...we can, if you want to.

[...and if he doesn't mind that he can't really dance, either...]

[-- HE WAS EXPECTING REJECTION WHAT IS THIS. THIS IS AWESOME, THAT'S WHAT THIS IS. If he could sparkle and shine and glow brighter than a Christmas tree, then he is definitely doing that now.]

For real?! Then let's go!

[Rin could care less if Chihiro had two left feet. He just wants to have fun. For a moment it looks like he's about to grab Chihiro's arm and pull him into the gaggle of dancers.

But he holds out his hand for Chihiro instead.]

You ready? We gotta show those rich guys what real dancing's like~.

[Did that sound cool? Yeah. That sounded cool.]

I...I think so!

[He takes Rin's hand carefully, listening as the more up-tempo song that had been playing shifts into a slower one. That will be a bit easier to dance to, at least.]

Good, good! Now, hold on tight, 'kay?

[The change in tune barely makes a bit of difference to him. It's a little too obvious that Rin isn't sure how to hold on to Chihiro's hand as he leads them further away from that safe little niche. Rin makes sure not to wander too far from it, in case Chihiro became nervous or something.

After all, Chihiro didn't want to dance at first, if at all. He'd do whatever he could to make sure his companion wasn't too distraught. ...Even if his dancing was pretty hazardous. Rin pulls Chihiro along in a huge circle and spins around to get some momentum going. Slow song or not, Rin was certain that dancing had to do with spinning.

Eventually he does find some semblance of a rhythm, swaying occasionally in time to the music. He doesn't say much, partially out of embarrassment, partially because there wasn't much he could think to say. Should he watch out for where he steps? Should he be careful of that dress when he tugs Chihiro in for another spin?

It... It really was a nice looking dress. And yeah, if a person wore nice clothes they would look nice too. But that was a given.

He continues to lead the way, a goofy smile firmly planted on his face.]

[Chihiro lets Rin pull him along, focused more on keeping his grip on his hand and making sure he steps right than how well they're actually dancing. He'd much rather not step on his feet or anything, after all. Once they actually get started, though, some of his former nervousness seems to ebb away; it's helped along by the grin on Rin's face, too.]

I thought you said you couldn't dance?

[He teases lightly after a while as Rin spins him again, still trying to be mindful of where his feet are landing, lest he trip or stumble.]

[No worries! Even if Chihiro were to fall, Rin's confident enough to catch him! . . . Doesn't mean he'll actually catch him in time, though.]

Yeah? [How does one graciously accept teasing? Rin looks at an indiscernible spot above Chihiro's head, anywhere other than his face. The poor guy tries not to laugh too much at that little comment.]

What about you, Fujisaki? All your people watching is paying off!
