Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

Well...there is the Japanese Zodiac. Every year is represented by a different animal, so it's somewhat the same. You are said to inherit the personality of the animals' year you were born during.

Do you know what your zodiac for that is, then?

[He nods, bringing a hand to his chin as he thinks.]

Mhm. I was born during the year of the horse. Which means I'm meant to be a quick thinker who is wise and talented. I could also be...easily angered and impatient...but I'd hope I'm not like that.

If it makes you feel better, I haven't noticed any temper whenever I've talked with you. In fact, sometimes it seems like you could be a little more... Assertive?

Mm...

[He seems to consider that for a moment before nodding, firmly.]

That is something I have been trying to work on, yes! I would like to get better at...asserting myself, too.

Have you looked up any self help books on how to build up your confidence for that sort of thing? I'm sure I could find something back in Goldenrod! I've been doing quite a bit of reading since I've gotten here, so I could certainly take a bit of time for your sake.

Oh...I haven't, actually. That might be a good idea...

[He's been working on training more, and actually taking the initiative to do the things he wants to do...it's been a slow process, but he's getting there!]

That's what I was thinking. Shiny Pokemon are meant to be so rare, after all...so I want to think of something that will suit him.

Well... Most of your Pokemon have Japanese names, right?

[He nods.]

Most of them, yes! A few I got from others don't, or some that I named specifically after certain people don't.

Then why not try a name from a different language? That way it's still different without being... tacky, or something.

Oh? ...What sort of language?

Hmm... Well, we are in a sort of... faux-France...

[They are, aren't they...]

Hmm...I don't know much French...I do know someone who seems to speak it a little, though.

I know some French artists! Monet, Picou, Boudin... I'm sure I could come up with a few others.

Ooh...those all sound very nice.

[The swablu in question chirps, tilting his head to the side.]

I think anything like that would be lovely.

I like Monet best, personally... He founded impressionism, you know, and there's something... really soothing and lovely about his paintings.

Did you ever see any of them?

Mmm...I'm not very familiar with much art, though I feel like I must have seen them at some point in passing on the internet.

[With as much time as he spends using computers, it's very likely.]

I read at some of the shops that there's apparently a truly amazing art museum here... It's a shame that none of us can go see it. I'd love to see what they consider high class art here.
