Summary: After all the shenanigans of Hoennween, it's about time everybody had a chance to relax and unwind, courtesy of some actually benign NPCs. With all the luxuries of the Hotel Richissime waiting at their disposal, that shouldn't be too difficult a prospect!

A FEW OTHER SETTING NOTES:

• At the moment, this log spans the entirety of the New Year's Eve plot, so starters may be posted for any time on either day of the event. If things start getting massive and it looks like an overflow log will be necessary, we'll definitely see about putting one up, and will link it to this one if need be.

• The Event Itinerary can be found here! Remember that participating in this course of events is not mandatory, but it's what will be going on in the grand scheme of things over the course of the event.

• All event participants are being housed on the fourth and fifth floors of the hotel. Your bedrooms are laid out like this; if you participated in our IC Rooming Roulette, you can find your buddy on this table here!

• Most activities here will be free! ICly, your characters will use their room cards to "pay" for most things, and the charges will be applied to their room (which of course, they are not paying for personally). Gift shops, parts of the casino, and food not provided as part of the event are not chargeable to your rooms and characters will have to use their own money in those locations.

• Underage characters may use the casino; however, they may be subject to some social scrutiny and side-eyeing in the event that they attempt to get in on one of the high-roller tables.

A NOTE ABOUT USING THREADS ON THIS LOG FOR AC:

Because of how our AC period works (the grace week into January still counting toward December), all threads on this log are valid toward December's AC, regardless of timestamp! However, because the log technically spans two different months and we want to encourage tagging out on it, we have also made this decision:

On this log and this log alone, comment threads timestamped in January (OOCly) that reach AC-length may be used towards January's AC, as well. Therefore, if a thread on this log reaches AC length with 10+ comments timestamped in January, you can use it toward January's AC (assuming the same thread has not already been used to satisfy December's AC).

[Wow. Uh. Okay. Technically that could still be Envy, but... Wrath has never seen Envy turn into an animal before.]

[After a moment or so of NERVOUS STARING, he relaxes, forgetting all about the part where he'd just been caught red-handed trying to pick pockets.]</sub>

Not a bloody clue. But it's a trick he can do. He won't do ya any harm.

[Invidia crouches down, smiling as best as his muzzle can let him, and gives a little wave. Kneeling down as well, Joker grins to Wrath.]

_{[Hesitantly, Wrath lifts one mismatched hand to offer a shy waved back, before his attention is snagged back by Joker.]}

Um... okay!

_{[Tricks are neat! Yes, he would like to see a trick, please!]}

[Grinning, he holds up his own hand and spreads his fingers wide.]

Got nothing in my hand and nothin' up my sleeve, and I only got one for both! But with a bit a hocus pocus... [And with that, he reaches behind Wrath's ear and ta da! Where did that coin come from?] Look what I found in that mess a hair a yers!

_{[Wrath nods, COMPLETELY SERIOUSLY. Joker has his rapt attention. And when he pulls the coin from behind his ear, Wrath literally gasps in wonder, clapping a hand to his ear. WHAT. WHAT! .... W HA T.]}

_{[Congratulations, Joker. YOU HAVE RECEIVED ONE (1) NEW FAN!]}

[Finding an empty table, he plops down in it with Invidia settling down besides him happily enough. As he goes through his pockets to find his deck of cards, he keeps up the conversation.]

_{[Wrath hops up on one of the chairs where he sits with his knees bent and shoes on the seat, hands planted squarely between them. It's kind of a weird way for a child to sit anyway, but it looks even weirder when the kid's in a fairly fancy-looking suit.]}

Now, that's a right cryin' same, a lad not knowin' about a circus! It's only the most amazin' and fun place ya can go ta!

We got food and games and amazin' shows with only the most talented and incredible shorta folks ya could ever meet!

[With a grin, he gives a twist and makes a card 'appear' seemingly out of nowhere.]

_{[Wrath likes the sound of amazingness and fun. Food and games seem pretty promising, too. His eyes grow big as Joker describes it, and while Wrath isn't quite sure WHAT sort of image is forming in his head based on the description, it's an exciting one.]}

[Joker lets him have it; it's just a playing card. He can find a dozen more decks to make up for it later. Hell, even here if he likes.]

_{[With the card in his hands, Wrath proceeds to examine EVERY INCH OF IT. He has no idea what it is, but it's colorful and eye-catching and therefore, he likes it.]}

Alright then. First- tell me why ya were goin' about pickin' people's pockets.

[He doesn't seem to mind so much that it was a thing the kid was doing, just sort of insisten in a friendly way.]

[He's faced with a dilemma. Because the first thing anybody told him about Team Rocket was you don't talk about Team Rocket.]

[Or they find out, and you get punished.]

[For all his naiivete, Wrath knows exactly what punishment is. And he wants as little of it as possible.]

[So after a brief period of obvious thinking, he looks Joker dead in the eye and says:]</sub>

_{[IT'S A BALDFACED LIE but he can't can't can't say that it's his job, because the bosses will know.]}

[And against a guy who, whether he likes it or not, spends most of his time lying just because it's become second nature, well, it's not something that passes by him. He'd been worried he'd have to call out Angel if he wasn't sure, but nah. Just a kid who's obviously real new at this. Joker keeps casual friendly, shuffling the deck with his hand.]

Didn't yer mum ever tell ya that it's rude ta peek inta people's pockets without askin'? Might get caught and they'll raise a fuss. Been there, ain't any fun.

<sub>[Yeah, Wrath isn't particularly great at lying anyway. There's not much of a chance he can get it past a seasoned lying veteran.]

[He kicks his legs a little, watching the cards become a blur.]</sub>

She told me it was rude to interrupt, and, um, that it was rude not to bow when Master came into the room.

But she didn't say anything about pockets.

[Bowing to Master, huh? Joker's gaze gets a bit distant for a moment before he shakes his head a bit.]

Well, if yer caught bein' a flimp, then you'll get put in jail and I'm sure yer mum wouldn't want that. Ya like her?

_{[Wrath sounds a little scandalized at the question-- though he really has no right to be after spurning his true mother and latching onto someone ELSE'S.]}

She's not here, though. Everyone says she's very far away.

S'true! But y'know what? There's always a chance she'll pop up, and you'll get ta see her again. Happens all the time.

[Setting down the cards, he reaches over to ruffle Wrath's hair.]

But until she comes, want me ta be yer big brother and watch over ya? I'll teach ya all sortsa things that'll make her proud when she sees!
